  1. I can vouge for Skodas, i recently bought a Octavia vRS and the car hasn't put a foot wrong yet in the time i have had it, i have been very impressed with it, it dosn't have the same character as a Corrado, but its a strong realiable car, as for the dealers anytime i have gone in and inquired about anything they have been very friendly and always willing to help, still think VW should be in the top 10 at least though, but these surveys are utter bulls#@t though
  2. What a muppet!! :cuckoo: and it aint even a storm! L reg
  3. Car looks great ben, very jealous :(
  4. i thought it could be the heater matrix jon but the carpets are bone dry so i have really no idea where the hell its going :(
  5. ok so i changed the kneck pipe at the top of the radiator at the weekend and i also checked the two water pumps for any leaks i couldnt spot any leaks but the car is still looseing in coolant, anyone got any ideas as to what could be causeing this?
  6. I ill do that, are they prone to leaking at the waterpumps mate?
  7. Forgot to say the car dosn't put any white smoke out the tailpipe att all, i replaced the thermostat houseing less than a year ago so i don't think it will be leaking there, took the car for a long drive tonight came back and had a wee check under the oil cap and dipstick and there was no mayo, gauge sat at a constant 95c oil was about 100-104c throughout.
  8. I have tryed using the search option through older posts but i can't find a clear answer to what my problem is Right i have been driveing the car more regularly now but i have noticed that the car is useing a little coolant as i am frequently topping it up every 500miles. I have checked for mayo under the oil cap and dipstick as i thought it could be the head gasket but nothing the car is not overheating either the gauge sits about 95c all the time. There are no visible leaks either. Anyone know where the coolant could be going? leaky matrix? Advice appreciated Paul
  9. This happened to me but my gauge would shoot of the top of the scale, i eventually fixed it by changeing my dials and also replaceing new temp sender with the older yellow one instead of the newer black one which was already in the car.
  10. Yeah mate the pump unscrewes from the bottom of the tank its quite fiddely trying to pull it through the hole in the boot but its fairly straight forward.
  11. Nice clean car you have ther gaz, lovely colour :D
  12. how do i go about fixing it so i have stage 1 working mate? rad switch? well my gauge was misbeheaving it was shooting up off the scale when the car was started even if it had been sat for a few days, so i got another set of dials this is my thrid and also swaped my newer black temp sender to a older yellow one this now shows about 92c while cruiseing, but just a bit paranoid about it riseing while in traffic, Paul
  13. ok bit of advice needed i have finally got to the bottom of my dodgy water temp readings, the car now reads about 92c while cruiseing but when i am stuck in traffic the gauge will go uo to just under 110c, iam thinking stage 1 of the fans aint comeing on? whats the best part to replace first? rad switch? Paul
  14. Yeah i know the smell you mean exactly, the thing is though if you don't drive the car fast its fine, theres no smell of burning or fizzeling pads, but i think i might just put a new caliper on to save any hassle
  15. thanks for the replys guys, Yeah i gave the whole area a good clean where the pads sit, I did suspect the piston could be the reason but it seems ok, iam going to take it apart again tomorrow and try give it another clean to see if that helps, if not ill get a new caliper, it just seems to be on the one side its sticking though? Paul
  16. Ok i am after a bit of advice i have been driveing the car more frequently in the last couple of days and noticed that i have a problem with my front caliper. Once the car has been driven for a few miles the caliper starts to stick. It can lead to a violent wheel wabble once i go over 40mph. Once i stop you can hear the pads fizzileing away. I have replaced the disks and pads less than 500 miles ago but the car has been sat recently for the last 6 weeks could this have anything to do with it? I striped the caliper today to see if i could see anything wrong with it but couldnt see anything wrong so put it all back together but the caliper still sticks? Is my caliper goosed? Paul
  17. What else you planning on doing to your car steve? just MOT it and drive it?lol, i forgot how much i loved to drive them haveing not driven mine for 6 weeks or so, Well there aren't very many specialists up here infact there is only and he has started doing MOTs so he has no time to do the work. I would prefer to take it somewhere who knew the VR6 engine well but its hard up here to find someone. I have a couple of mechanic friends who could do it but i just don't know at this stage. I thought about haveing ago myself but thought against it in the end.
  18. Thanks for the replys guys yeah it was my fuel pump that was goosed steve got another one fitted it and she fired up first time :D yeah i do love the interior, i now want to replace pretty much all of the front suspension components and maybe try and get a engine rebuild when you think you will have it MOT d steve?
  19. Cheers mate i do love the interior i think it suits the colour of the car. yeah i was planning to put the chrome badge back on the front and keep the chrome one on the rear
  20. Just gave the car a quick wash thought i would take a few pics of how she is looking now. Iam the worlds worst photographer though I have replaced the following in the last few weeks; - de- wipered the rear - smoked rear clusters - Red/black leather seats - black leather doorcards - new disks and pads all round, just went for standard ones for now - replaced the chavy exhaust with another stainless steel system(don't know what kind it is though) - replaced bonnet cable - new fuel pump - just serviced it myself all new filters and fluids and some new spark plugs - and most importantly a corrado forum sticker fitted to the rear O/S window :D I want to get some new alloys but have no idea what to go for so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great, i just want to enjoy driveing it for the time being. Paul
