Right changed the header tank yesterday but this done fu@k all, it still rises and the light still flashes grr!! What would be the next thing to try? A new temp gauge? A new temp sensor? I have changed this recenetly (the 4 pin one) when i went to the staelers they said the yellow one was discontinued, and they gave me a blue 4 pin one instead is this correct?

This afternoon mine slowly went up then stayed at the top, as soon as you stop though and let it idle it drops slightly and the light stops 2 flash but as soon as you move even 1m it will go to the top and the light will flash again could this be something to do with the airflow or something?? :confused4: Its really racking my brains, could it be the water pump?? What are the signs of a dodgy water pump? £56.80 + VAT for a temp gauge and coolant gauge from the stealers. cheers

This will sound like a daft question :epicfail: But...... Will that passast temp gauge fit into the VR6 clocks i know they are different from early valvers and G60s? cheers

I live in inverness, got a blue VR6, theres a few kicking about town now. cheers -
thanks mate much appreciated, i hopeing the new header tank will do the trick but the next thing would be the clocks, thats my jobs for the weekend then. 16 year old electrics there bound to be a bit suspect at this stage off the cars life, Is it possible to just buy a new temp gauge or is it a whole new set off clocks i would need?
-
Is it easy to get the clocks out mate? I have my new header tank comeing on friday. Don't know if this will help Its really strange it will rocket up even if the car has been sat overnight, my oil temps are spot on it never goes above 102c and the fans come on when they should (i think), if i leave it to idle the gauge will drop then it will go back up the light will flash then it won't, iam not looseing any coolant haven't had to top it up for months :confused4: :confused4: Could it be the water pump?

hi dave i have just ordered my new header tank could this solve the problem? I tryed disconecting the 4 pin yellow switch i thought that would stop the gauge going up but it still did :confused4: while the switch is connected the gauge will still rocket up even if the engine is cold :confused4: any ideas? cheers
-
Its the exact same thing as mine, it will sit idle fine fans come on etc the oil temp will be spot on, it has now started rocketing straingt up even though it is cold :brickwall: iam going to try a new header tank How much do u reckon for a new temp gauge?

Hi Thinking about ordering a timing chain kit for my VR6 from FOUR SEASONS in the U.S.A, anyone had any experience of there kits and if they had any problems with them. They just seem like such a bargain. cheers paul -
Thats what i thought the positions were in the wrong place, thats a shame theres a mint grey interior on ebay whats hopeing to stick it in the VR, never mind :( cheers anyway
-
This may sound like a daft question but would a complete leather interior from a 1990 valver fit into my 1993 VR6? :brickwall: Thanks alot Paul

Yeah its a fairly straight forward job 2 do. 1. Disconnect HT leads from coilpack. 2. Remove the two bits of plastic trim from the top of the engine. 3.The sensor sits on the right hand side of the head just above the coilpack, after removeing the two bits of plastic trim you will see the sensor. Disconect the lead from the top of the sensor then remove the sensor useing a allen key (cant quite remember what size it is) should be fairly easy to get out. Insert the new sensor and tighten it up, put the two bits of trim back on connect the leads back to the coilpack and away you go. paul

yeah my reverse lights work, i have tryed a bulb in the other cluster still nothing, there are no apparent loose wires, iam starting to think it could maybe be the switch??
