i got round to investigating this the other day, and the problem turned out to be one abs ring not quite being pressed onto the disc square all sorted now
-
cool, i'll have a fiddle later and report my findings cheers supercharged
-
its a g60 rado mate. i'll inspect the abs rings next then! thinking about it the guy i bought the car off had just changed the rear discs so maybe these are off centre or missing! do you know why 60mph is significant to the system? maybe the rears don't start 'sensing' until this speed?

hey guys, i have a problem with my abs that doesn't seem to have been covered before, i've had a good search but found nothing. the problem is that the light comes on, without fail, the first time the car gets to 60 whilst driving. When the ignition is turned on the light comes on and goes off like it should. I have been over all the sensors and cleaned them, and bought a copy of vag com, but can't get it to communicate :cuckoo: has anyone had this problem? cheers

the new golfs (mk3 onwards) are boring yes, but i would rather go out for a hoon in my mk2 golf than my g60 corrado tbh. I would put the corrado in the comfy cruser category its a wicked car though, don't get me wrong! after a year of replacing part after part on mine i think i'm finally on top of the jobs

Saw 2 yesterday as well! silver one broken down at the side of the a3 (kingston) and black one driving down queens road in bisley
-
same here, the best combo in my opinion. the late dashboard reminds me of a mk3 golf :pukeright:

it has happened quite a few times mate. i know of a couple exploding in golfs over on another forum i use, but most of the time they just leak your right they do last a long time, but these cars are old! its not a risk i want to take tbh for a fairly simple fix. its either change the matrix or wait for it to leak, strip the interior, dry it out and then have to change the matrix anyway! you are probably right about srvicing the cooling system properly, but how are you to know how he previous owner serviced it? most people on here have owned the car for what, an 1/8th of its life?
-
or wet feet
-
you know the valve is there to stop a pressure buildup in the matrix, which has been known to make them explode hot water all over the occupants? if you aren't changing the matrix i suggest you buy a working bypass valve!
-
thats a bit thin for an old engine tbh
-
cos theres none left at vw in the uk and not many left in germany  hurry up! from my brief search i don't think anyone does a pattern one either
-
well it was his fault for stalling  i was quite lucky and slammed the brakes on just in time so no damage other than the vw badge falling out my grille lol he was still :bad-words: though
-
the mk3 matrix is better than the mk2 and corrado one - no bypass valve needed! theres nothing wrong with gsf's matrix. its £40ish and the pipes you need to delete the bypass valve are about a tenner, although the last time i bought them it was for a mk2 golf, the pipes for a corrado may be a bit longer. if you wish to waste money at vw though its up to you
-
i did this once following my dad
-
wasn't the corrado always considered 2nd best to the integra? thats quite a compliment tbh
-
have you tried cleaning it?

is there any reason the old column can't be repaired? just seems like a lot of work to me for a bit of play
