Deluk, cheers, worth a try.

Grant Motorsport in Bristol have a good reputation.

Yep- it's a cheap part that can cause probs. Defo worth changing. Get a proper VAG one though.

Niiiiiiice!

Advice on lumpy, erratic 2.0 16v - being a bit crap again..

Glad you're getting somewhere at last, matey! :) -
Yeh, got a K&N panel filter. I actually took it out on the last retest and it made no difference :(

Soooo gutting when this happens. 3 of my previous cars have been keyed- 2 of them Corrado's. I parked my black valver outside once in the whole time I owned it, and it was keyed all the way from the rear bumper to the front bumper! I was in the process of selling it, with the guy picking it up the following day. Thankfully it polished out.

Thanks, Stanley

Car still at the garage. Still not sorted- gonna try a new Lambda today. They think it may be the FPR if the lambda doesn't sort it. They think it's prob not the cat as it's only 2 years old.

We've had a good chat and done our sums, and we're gonna keep them both for the time being, and review the situation again in a few months. Desperately need some money from somewhere though (don't we all?!). Someone please buy my wheels!

At least it's still got 2 years of warranty left. The C on the other hand is doing my head in...
-
Hmmm, food for thought. Maybe selling the RS would be a false economy :?
-
Hmmm. I used to find the car felt quite cumbersome, and it also tramlined on the 17's, whereas on the 15's it feels a lot more nimble. I guess it should have a bit more grip with the 17's.
-
Just changed from 17's to 15's and the difference is quite marked. The car feels quicker of the mark and much more sure-footed. They don't look anywhere near as good though!
-
Steve, gonna look at the cat today. Starting to think that's the prob.

Looks like we're gonna have to sell the vRS, as we're pretty skint :( Want to replace it with something decent, and have noticed that 4Motion estates can be had for as little as £3.5K. Don't know too much about them, but they look like the perfect alternative. Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated! The C may also have to go too...

Hi mate, Yeh, it sucks :( My local specialist is looking at it again tomorrow- he thinks it may be a temp sensor or something. He's a bit stumped, but reckons it's running slightly rich. Think he could be right, as MPG isn't as good as it should be. I'll also suggest testing the pre cat CO. He doesn't want to fiddle with the mixture via the metering head, as he says it's too fragile. Last time he checked the ECU for faults and there weren't any.
-
Any joy with this?
-
Back to the garage then :(
-
Don't bother with the balljoints- it's defo the Borbet C's that are causing the probs. Sell them to me, put some standard wheels on and you'll be sorted again

having one of those weeks! (thinking of selling my vr!)

Jim, you're right, but it's starting to stress me out! TBH, I don't think there's any point in downgrading to a valver apart from purchase price. My current valver has cost me far more in maintenance than both my VR's. Then again, my last 2 valvers didn't cost much at all. -

Ha ha- we'll see! You're probably right, but we're due a few goals- we really need Deano back! -

I've been in this situation several times now  , and am going through it again at the mo :( Personally, If you want to get something that costs less, I'd go for something new/nearly new with warranty, or get a Honda. Seriously! I changed my G60 for a 1995 Civic VTI with 80K on the clock. It had been really looked after, and absolutely nothing went wrong in the year or so that I owned it. Then later I changed my VR6 for a 2000 reg VTI, which had 125K on the clock. Again, absolutely nothing went wrong. My wife had a 1997 Civic Coupe for a year, and again, nothing went wrong. There are some older cars out there that won't eat your wallet. They're just not as fun as a Corrado, but a great compromise. Both my VTI's were close to G60 speed, and the 1.6 would have been close to a VR 0-60mph. -
Steve, I did, and it made no difference. In fact, it was slightly higher :? :(
