cant argue with that i guess! whereabouts in essex are you? couldnt ask them how much a crank pulley change would cost could you? -
oh jesus! I dont fancy doing this one on my own, how much do you reckon a garage would charge to sort this one out?

you can do that on your own mate, easy job just unbolt the old and bolt on the new! What about the self service garage on the A3 out of london if you want to attempt it, failing that hearne bros in Brixton are really good depends if you want to venture that far into town? If you can get to Barrett Lee in south suffolk/north essex then theres a couple of vw enthusiasts who work there (bit pricey though) -
anyone been to see this one or know anythign about it?
hyland770 replied to hyland770's topic in General Car Chat
iv offered the guy £850 cash and hes not having any of it!!! its been 3 weeks now and i keep offering him that amount, any suggestions dont really wanna pay anymore than £850 for it! -

This pulley in the engine is vibrating all over the place could you let me know what its for and how i can stop it vibrating!?
-
Finally managed to get a couple of pics done and gave it a quick clean (not easy in sub zero temperatures but enough to wash the salt off) Also managed to find what is making the racket in the engine bay, somehow this is related to the PAS but this is the pulley which is vibrating all over the place: Works completed so far: - Raised suspension which has massively improved the ride and handling - Cleaned throttle body (running 10x better) - Changed oil and added ZX1 treatment - Cleaned the car! - Tightened up the alternator belt With regards to the PAS, when its idling it makes a rickety noise, when i turn the wheel a little the noise goes away...the PAS does feel a little heavy but is still working....any ideas? ---------- Post added at 12:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:10 PM ---------- Work to be done: - sort PAS - Get a new front splitter The list goes on but thats priority!
-
Well your ratio sounds the same as mine then because 1 is real short but the rest are loooooong! Ill do the belt tommorrow and iv sourced a throttle cable thats only a fiver so that doesnt sound too hard to fit either. Ill give it a good blast from london to suffolk tonight too so should clear any cobwebs out!!! Thanks for the help guys
-
Thanks david, knew you would know whats wrong! I know this sounds stupid but could i tie a knot in the cable to shorten it a tad so its nearly back to normal length, sounds silly but in theory should work right? Also where is this 180 degree bend? I have a PAS belt spare from my last rado so ill sort that this weekend too. Service should help general feel and performance i guess, looking forward to getting into this one! Pics on the way....

Right ive decided not too sell and to make a proper go of my latest rado! So this weekend im going to get stuck in, first things after an oil change and service is the PAS. The PAS makes a rickety noise when im stationairy but if i turn the wheel the noise goes away. i only have to turn the wheel about an inch just enough to take up the slack and everythign purrs like a goodun! Do i just need to tighten up the belt to solve this problem, i occasionaly get a whiff of hot rubber so i guess the belt could be slipping and the more i think about it the more that seems like the logical explanation! Also my second question is...How can i make the throttle revs drop off quicker when i take my foot off the gas? throttle is very responsive when i put my foot down but i when i take the foot off the gas its a lot less responsive is there a way to quicken this up, apart from making sure everything is clean? third question...did the corrado come with a long ratio gearbox, the gears seem to go on forever in this one, its a 1.8 16v kr engine. Will get some pics and let you know how i get on over the weekend.

Hi guys can anyone in south london with a c spanner let me borrow it for 30mins, ive got a long journey tommorrow afternoon and need to raise the car but all my tools are back in suffolk!!! can anyone let me come over either this evening or tommorrow at some time so i can raise the coilovers an inch or so?? Even a hammer and screwdriver would do, maybe a couple of sprays of wd40 too, i could give beer tokens in appreciation! my number is 07792738848 (im not weird/ a pikey/a robber in anyway so dont be shy!)

Im in 2 minds whether to get rid of this or not, suspension just needs to be raised and the top mounts replaced then the ride will be fine. and it could make a really good car, decisions decisions, if nobody buys then ill keep it and return it too its former glory, ill get some pics tonight once im back from work.

Location: south wimbledon Price: 800.00 GBP Date added to Classifieds: 6th Feb 2012 Description: Hello, Bought this Corrado as a project but ive just got a new job which means more hours away from home and a company car so unfortunately im not going to have time to complete it! The Pros: NO RUST! The paint and bodywork is excellent, no bubbles and no rust so a very solid base too work with. of boy There is a full stainless steel exhaust system going from the downpipe to the back box, im unsure of the make but it makes a really nice subtle sound, not chavy or boy racer ish at all. It comes with coilover suspension which is fully height adjustable, again unsure of make and provides a firm ride (im not a massive fan of coilovers due to the stiffness they provide and the ride is very firm indeed) Engine runs very nicely, during the short period of time i have owned the car ive cleaned out the throttle body and cleaned all the vaccum hoses, lubed everything up, just basically making sure everything runs as well as it possibly can and i seem to have done a good job as the engine really does run well. Its reliable starts when i ask it too and theres no knocks, bangs etc its also only got 136,000 on the clock which for a corrado these days seems to be pretty good! Electrics all work, spoiler works both automatically and manually and the car comes with a sony head unit and some 6x9's which again arent too over the top but provide a bit of bass boost and a bit more volume. 4 good toyo tyres, and vw alloy wheels no kerbing, there all straight and as they should be. The brakes are very good, drilled and grooved discs which provide more than enough stopping power. The cons: The ride really is firm from the coilovers which as ive mentioned im not a massive fan of. The interior is a bit scruffy, nothing too bad (apart from a small patch on the drivers seat) but the seats could do with a hoover or a shampoo. Could do with some new top mounts in the near future (these arent expensive or hard to fit, ive just been too busy trying to get this new job!) Power steering feels a little heavy, not sure if the pump needs bleeding or just needs to be topped up, i just havent had the time to do any of these little jobs. In summary: Great solid base to build up from, the car runs and pulls very well, all works as it should just needs someone to pay it a little more attention than i can give it. This could make a very impressive car indeed. I have been very honest with the description and the price reflects the little bits and bobs i have mentioned. Also cash on collection, sold as seen although dont take that too mean anything negative, mot'ed until October but tax runs out at the end of the month im afraid. Any questions please feel free to drop me an email and ill get back to you as quickly as possible.

well ive just been offered a new job in international sales so im going to have to stop the project already! The car is on ebay if anyones interested (£850ono) the car itself isnt that bad tbh, i sorted the engine and idle...was just a dirty throttle body and a few clips which hold hoses on had been misplaced so replaced them cleaned it all up and now it runs really well! Work which does need to be done is the front top mounts need to be replaced and the power steering is intermittent but this possibly could be because i was about to run out of fuel!? Im not suprised the car is on the wonk, the coilovers are wound near enough all the way down, was going to raise on the weekend but it was waaaaay too cold. It could make a hell of a project as its a solid base, there really is no rust to be found and the engine is strong, i just dont have the time now im going to be flying around all over the place! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300660524589?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_888wt_932 As for the door, cant say i noticed it as it looked pretty straight to me! i also did an HPI check and it came up clear so wouldnt worry too much about that :)

well the car made it back, the journey was horrific through the snow and abandoned/crashed cars and jackknifed lorries! runs fine and paint and bodywork is superb, just a couple of niggles such as a sticky throttle and bouncy idle (possibly related?), car bounces from about 600rpm to about 1200rpm on tickover!? Going to clean up the throttle body, check all pipes are secure and give her a service to hopefully sort that out, also steering didnt feel too sharp, may be because its stupidly low on coilovers or because some of the bushes could do with replacing so thats all to come too! She was from Caldicot in south wales, proper back country from what i could make out! Pic will follow once im out of bed!

Hi Guys, just about to pick up the new valver project, its green 135k on the clock, rust free and comes with a 4 branch manifold (not too sure why the guy hasnt fitted it, will find out later...) Im in london at the moment and picking her up from south wales so its a hell of a trek and a bit of a leap of faith as i havent seen the car in person yet! Anyway plans are: - Service (new oil, filter, plugs, dizzy etc) - Cambelt - New brakes (unless the one on atm are still fine) - Rims (some sort of dish havent made up my mind or collected enough pennies yet) - Interior strip or re-upholstered and finally ive always wanted to run a valver on carbs so either that or at some point a 1.8t conversion, however a mate of mine did suggest old skool power by playing with differnt bottom and top ends so might look into that too. Its already on coilovers so need to change suspension unless its really cheap and nasty in which case ill do that too. Other than that just keep it clean, mean and on the road for as long as possible. Ill get some pics when i return tonight. Its going to be a long term project, something to distract me from work haha maintained using the overdraft (probably!) Wish me luck :S

yeah if you could get some pics that would be great.

hmmm i thought they were keskins but wasnt sure what model, im more of a fan of the low and wide stance so going to have to be dishes, picking up the car Saturday and im excited to have project 2 on the go! Cheers for the help guys

Right i know this is a pretty lame post and i used to hate it when people posted such topics but.... I am due to buy a green Corrado this weekend and its got some god awful 4 spoke alloys on it, im a bit a bit of a wheel whore so along with a service and cambelt change the wheels will be pretty high up on my list of things to purchase/fit. Im after some 9j's on the rear and front or 9j's rear and 7.5's front and i cant make my mind up between: - Borbet A's (had these on a white valver and it looked so good) - Shmidt moderlines or any other suggestions people can come up with? Of course if you have any good pics of dish rims on corrados that would be helpful! thanks guys. ---------- Post added at 10:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:00 PM ---------- found this thread online, whats are the rims in the first pic? http://www.volksforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37966&page=1&pp=20

(whoever thought 135,000 would be considered lowish miles!!! haha) Cheers for any help
