  1. nope when through about 14 pages in the search function and couldnt find it, from what i have read there are 4 bolts that hold on the power steering unit where the pulleys are attached and i have to loosen these off which will give enough slack for the belts to come off, also best done with the front wheel off am i about right!?
  2. Right im doing a bit of valver maintenance at the moment but have got stuck... Im trying to replace the alternator belt and whilst im there power steering belt too. I got the alternator belt loose enought to slip it off but the power steering belt/pulleys are in the way so i cant get it all the way off! How do you loosen the power steering pump to get the belt off? I almost started trying to undo the pulleys on the power steering belt system but then though no, il ask on here hahah Ive tried searching but i really need an "idiots" guide to getting these two belts off, once iv figured out the power steering belt i can do the alternator easy but i just cant figure out how to loosen off the power steering belt in order to slip it off and then get the new alternator belt and power steering belt on!
  3. Some more little updates on the work done so far.... Had a few start up issues, where the car would fire up fine then idle at about 500 revs and not on all cylinders then after about 20 secs it would run on all cylinders and drive fine etc....so i narrowed this down to the dizzy and rotor arm. Took the old dizzy off and it was pretty much black inside lots of carbon deposits etc and also the rotor arm looked knackered! So replaced these and so far it seems to have done the trick...success some pics of the engine and dizzy lol just because i have none on this thread of them haha On the next pic, you see the clip on the top of the dizzy well i managed to snap the end of the bottom one off :/ it still holds it on alrite but not sure how to fix it properly, not a problem atm as it works fine but just a niggle that id like to get sorted, any ideas? Also managed to do the lupo wiper conversion, i never really thought it would make as big a difference as everyone says but BLOODY HELL IT DOES!! they look pretty trick too :) there we have it another update, gettin closer to how i would like it too be, coilovers hopefully by the end of the month and also new HT leads and plugs.
  4. So some thread lock is advisable when replacing the rotor arm to stop it flying off?
  5. Is that a legitimate way of doing it (just shattering it)? Im a bit worried that if i pull really hard with the molegrips im going to end up with more than just the rotor arm off!!! Someone please reassure me this womt happen!? Also if worst comes to worst does the entire distributor just bolt on and off or is it more complicated than that? And finally is it safe to squirt wd40 into the dizzy to help keep the damp out?
  6. Il get the big screwdriver out and give it another go in the morning then, i wont rip any of the internals of the dizzy out with it will i!?
  7. Right iv been having a weird starting issue, 1.8 16v fires up fine then idles down to below 500 revs and doesnt fire on all cylinders and then after about 20 secs runs fine and drives fine! The other day after leaving the car outside it did the same thing then as i was driving just died and wouldnt re start.....the aa man came out and said my dizzy cap was damp and needed replacing sooooo he got me on my way and today i replaced the dizzy cap, but also noticed the rotor arm looks tired so tried to replace this but cant get the darn thing off, its not screwed on or bolted but i just cant get it off and even with the cap replaced its still doing the strange start up procedure! If the dizzy arm doesnt work then il try new ht leads and plugs and if that doesnt do it im not sure where to turn, so any ideas on getting the arm off or any other advice to help with this issue?? Cheers guys and gals
  8. as above will collect locally but post otherwise if possible!
  9. yeah your right, il just spend the extra and get something decent, i just thought that because there FK they would be better than all the other trailor trash!
  10. Hi guys, i've got a bit of a fault coming through when i start my car. It fires up fine but the revs drop to about 500 sometimes lower then struggles to idle and then sorts itself out and idles fine (about 1000 revs). Its just an odd pattern that seems to be developing, i mean after that it runs fine no issues at all (touch wood) so it doesnt bother me too much just want to get it sorted before it gets worse. It doesnt happen all the time and when it does its usually not firing on all cylinders but then as stated above it sorts itself out, fires on all cylinders and then idles fine too!? This all happens in the space of about 30 seconds... Any ideas? the Cars a 1.8 16v year is 1990 (although i know its had an engine transplant at some point so not sure what age the engine is exactly)
  11. okay so two opposing views, could you go into anymore detail?

    DIY Camber

Anyone done it? I've heard that if you put a 1mm washer in between the lower bolts in between the stubaxel and rear beam you can adjest your own camber to get that "euro look" i wondered if anyones done this before? and if so is there any pics?
  16. Right quick update, i finally found, bought and fitted my 9j's on the rear, havent lowered it yet to get the perfect stance as im gettin new coilovers next month so thought id just leave it be until then. heres the pics:
  17. i've recently noticed that FK are producing a cheap coilover at a price of £200 (think there called FK AK street coilovers) my brother is doing a budget build on his rado and he was wondering if these would be any good over other budget brands. His and my train of thought is, FK are a reasonable suspension company therefore there entry level coilovers would be better than say JOM, Jamex etc etc... Anyone had any experience or thought on the matter? (im trying to avoid the save up your pennies and buy somethign better comments as iv told him this already hahah) cheers guys/gals
  18. haha im over in monks eleigh, near hadleigh which is next door to ipswich! mate i need your rear wheels, if there is anyway you can be pursuaded to part with them let me know! You seen that black rado with the bonnet bra that cruises around ipswich, looks amazing (well it did in the dark lol) more pics to come when i have my new suspension on..
  19. was thinking about maybe gettin soem kelskins?? dont know if the dish is deep enough tho??
  20. yeah just did some detective work and saw his are 5 stud.....FUCK! i really just want the wide rears, im happy with the front just need that holy "stance" lol they've stopped making borbet A's now (according to the bloke at rimstyle) i was gonna buy them new otherwise as ive been searching for sooooo long now but cant even buy them bloody new!
  21. as in the borbets are wide at the rear!? sounds perfect dude!!! erm i dont suppose if i gave you some money and a pair of my 7.5j's you could just let me have the rears? then you can just sell a set of 7.5j's (see where im coming from??)
  22. sounds like it may be a bit out of budget for me :/ im looking for something around the £700 mark, (sell my borbets for £375 and then stump up the cash) would ideally like 16's too... still, got any pics?
  23. anything with a dish preferably a set with front 7.5j and the rears 9j open to any dish rims, i got borbets on atm and would love to keep them but all 4 are 7.5 j and i want wide rears!
