  1. i have no aerial on my car, i want to be able to pick up radio signal via my headunit so that i can use my iphone (have a gagdet that plays iphone music via radio signal) what bit do i need to plug into the back of the headunit to be able to pick up radio signal? i think il hide the aerial behind the dash somewhere to keep it out of sight, im off into town in a bit so if someone could respond asap then i can get the parts when im out, cheers!
  2. Right im finally making a bit of progress on the valver. My list of things to get done by the show season is as follows; convert k-jet to bike carbs, relocate battery, and neaten up the engine bay. So... Has anyone reloacted their battery to the boot and if so how? ive heard that the battery needs to be vented, how would i go about this?? im guessing to get it to the boot is a case of heavy duty wire to the boot and earthing apropriately? Also what benefits apart from looking cool does an alloy header tank have as i was thinnking about putting one of those in the engine bay to help neaten it all up? and finally... Is there any point in running an oil cooler? iv heard their complicated to fit and just wondered if its worth it??
  3. oh so your the 1 french speaking person on the site!!! :notworthy:
  4. kev if you could do that that would be amazing. I think with valvers being so cheap these days people are more into trying to get the most out of them rather than vr6's and g60's which tend to be roughly double the price. It would be especially good for enthusiasts such as myself who have gone through the trouble of re sprays and brake conversions who dont particulary want to sell up for more power after putting in so much effort and growing attached to the car they have already....blah blah blah you get the picture lol
  5. *ahem cough*....group buy....*cough cough*....but seriously id definately be up for it! or just an instruction kit would be a good start lol
  6. how's the car coming along any more progress? im going to pass on the carbs as i was hoping to do a whole carb conversion for under £300 so maybe going the bike carb route... get some more pics up of the motor!
  7. i really wish these kits would come back, so many valvers about at the moment and so many people would be interested, myself included (currently thinking over a bike conversion too...)
  8. well it wont be done until the spring anyway as im going on holiday first so paying for that, im just gettin all the bits together so that when i get back it can be thrown together so to speak. Ice isnt too much of a problem anyways as its tucked up in a garage over the winter months im aware of the jets and im sure you can use the bike pump as its 12v so thats not too much of a problem im just curious about the linkage and also the manifold (whats this i keep reading about the brake servo going into the manifold??? ) as well as how it all fits together and works. I know its not an expensive mod so if needs be i might get all the bits and then get a specialist to do it, although once iv got all the bits it shouldnt be that hard to put together and im more of the "built not bought" ilk anyhow... Anyone got any detailed pics of theirs or similar mk2 golfs that i could use as reference?
  9. I have just bought the carbs off a 900cbr....im not sure why i did this (well i do check out the vid and listen to that noise, thats exactly why i bought them...they look cool as hell too ) so now iv got them what do i do :help: i know i've got to get a manifold made up and also a fuel pump and regualtor? could possibly get one off the same bike to help out and keep cost down but also whats the best way to go about mounting the throttle cable?? what other bits do i need to but to get it all done and what kinda of bhp will this add (if any, im more interested in the look and the noise tbh) just any help would be appreciated as iv never done this or know of a 16v rado thats been done!
  10. the valvers perfomance is obviously not as great as a G60 / VR6 but i would say it makes up in the fun factor as said above. Theres lots you can do to get better performace though such as air box mods, good quality oil (perhaps the most iportant thing) ht leads, plugs, you get the picture...also put on vr6 brakes as i have just done and it drastically improves the braking and thus makes you go quicker! Let me know when you come up with a price for the carbs, if the mani is going to be £200 il probs make my own but defo interested in the cars alone!
  11. as a fellow 16v owner im going to be watching this one, good luck with it looks like you got your work cut out! how much you after for the carbs?
  12. youtube is going to take a "corrado exhasut" battering this afternoon  ill just try the above setup and change/tweak things as appropriate. Anyone got one of these?..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-CORRADO-1-8-2-0-8V-INC-G60-STAINLESS-STEEL-MANIFOLD-/400174564649?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d2c434529
  13. cheers chap, iirc the limit is something like 98db right? if straight through is going to be too loud whats my best option, de cat pipe, 4 branch manifold and standard back box?
  14. girl came into work and said my car was sexy, she then said see you at the shows and gave me a wink....boom.
  15. just want some information regading exhausts and mot's.... i have a 1990 16v and would like a custom exhaust made up, but before i do i need to know a couple of things: because its a 1990 model does that mean i dont have to have a cat and if i dont have a cat will the car pass its emmissions test when its mot time? I think id like a straight through exhaust, what do most people go for? id like it to increase powerlevels if possible but also give a bit of noise as my car is so quiet atm! Any info would be good regarding exhausts, cats, and mot's! thanks people
  16. how about my white valver, H663 TGJ. I know a guy in london had it and spent thousands on it, then some bloke in middlesex had it too, any info?
  17. darn. ah well it was exciting for a few minutes lol
  18. so i looked at the white sticker in the boot and it said the engine code is KR AGC or something so im guessin it is the kr, so what does this mean? have i got more bhp now or what? any information on my new discovery would be great!
  19. you know what i mean, people are always harping on about the KR rather than other engine codes lol cheers RW1 ill have a look tommorrow when its lighter
  20. I had a bit of a nerd day off today, went through the folder that came with my car full of old receipts, mots tests etc etc... decided to get it all in order in plastic wallets :dorky: and tbh it made quite interesting reading, its had thousands spent on it over the years...then i came to an interesting receipt that said the engine code was KR. I thought when i bought it it was just a standard 1.8 16v  So how can i tell if it is or isnt a KR, where is the engine number located?
  21. replaced 256mm brakes with 280 vr6 ones, new brembo discs, pads and refurbed calipers. also tightened up the handbrake so i dont have to pull it up to my armpit for it too work anymore! gave it a clean then put it back in the garage lol
  22.   That is truly awesome!!   +1 my pudding literally just came through my nose...
  23. my mistake, im not really sure why i put down yellow pads as there green but hey ho :cuckoo: the bites so much better than standard, cant wait to get them bedded in so i can put them to some proper use  ill get soem pics in my build thread tommorrow in the daylight
  24. .....new 280mm brakes fitted on the valver!! :D  :norty: so chuffed, im still running them in but already the difference over the 256mm is incredible! im running, 280 brembo discs and ebc yellow stuff pads, refurbed vr6 calipers and carriers and its crazy the difference made :D Also on a side note, the bloke in the garage said my car was running incredibly well for a 114,000 year old valver this made me smile big time too. Random post i know but just so incredibly chuft at the moment haha
  25. :epicfail: failed at the first hurdle...... couldnt get the sodding caliper carrier bolts off!! didnt have any room for a breaker bar either :brickwall: so frustrating, got all the parts, new brake pads, vr6 calipers, brake fluid even bought a flippin easy bleed kit!! so booked it in to have the garage do it on friday, although i hate garages doing it as you never know what there gonna do or how "gentle" there going to be :confused4: ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so annoying!
