where can I get a cheap replacement exhaust for my 2.016v 1995?
hyland770 replied to nicklouse10's topic in Suppliers Forum
ebay, gsf, euro car parts, various internet sites e.g. venom motorsport etc, look in pvw too loads of adds in there, just google it chap its not difficult to find somewhere! -
c'mon man you can see the k-jet right there its a 16v!!!
-
how much did it cost you too have that done then?
-
yeah if you could get a picture so i know what bolt it is that would be great!
-
i know its jetex but what exhaust model is that, im after one for my 16v for a bit more noise as its dead quiet at the moment, how does yours perform? that first picture in this thread looks badass man, keep up the good work!
-
can you really do the timing like that?? i would love to have a go but im pretty sure id mess it up hahah!
-
this gets even better.....he wants £250 for the whole car its a mk4 gti golf, to be fair the body is completely shot but it will be good for brakes and the engine plus any interior bits! Im going at this with maximum caution as it just sounds a bit too good to be true but if it is genuine then wow is all i can say!
-
...just got offered a 1.8t engine for £250 i couldt say no could i!? ....100,000 miles on the clock but full service history looks like the conversion is a goer after all!
-
well id suggest if it looks like its been hit with a hammer its probably not good anymore!
-
thats a nice post you have attached to that giant add!
hyland770 replied to hyland770's topic in Site Comments and Questions
yeah i guess its still early days and you lot do do a top job i was just/am finding all these adds all over the place a bit irritating! and yeah i had a massive add in one of my threads, had some blond girl with a red top on thats all i remember....goes to show how effective that add was LOL -
woah glad you said that in time, cancelled the order hahah could i just get someone to weld a bit of straight pipe on then, so it would nearly be a straight through system? so literally central silencer then straight pipe right out the back to a stainless steel back box?

i understand that perfectly and i would be happy to pay or donate if it meant getting rid of these ridiculous adds which are splashed all over the pages. -
i hope that meant to say "shouldnt" rather than "should" haha cos i just found and bought a decat pipe from "unit 3 tuning" off ebay! at £40 it might be a bit hit and miss but at the end of the day its just a bit of stainless steel pipe so should be okay and a guy off another forum got one and was pleased with it so hey ho! now just looking for a stainless back box as the rest of the system is in pretty good nick!
-
I know that to support the forum you need money, whoever "you" is haha so therefore i understand the need for adds etc etc but jesus isnt this new setup taking the **** a little bit? am i interested in smileys..no, am i interested in buying a new vauxhall corsa....no etc etc and i think it really takes the **** when you've made a thread and theres now a bloody great add in the same box as your writing!? maybe all these adds are whats slowing down this forum too?? i too am noticing its much slower than it was before the "change" just my thoughts anyway as it is slightly cheesing me off, might be better if we all pay like a £5 subscription or something instead? that way you woudl also get rid of the people who dont really contribute much to threads anyway!? and im sure even the poorest of the poor can scrounge 5 quid!?
-
also will a decat pipe from a mk2 golf 16v fit as im finding it hard to find anywhere that does 16v decat pipes!?
-
I think theres only so long you can blame this new look for the lack of interest people seem to be showing at the moment. There are the popular group on here which i would imagine know each other outside of the forum and they reply to each others threads consistantly but seem to ignore others? I mean this thread had a large number of views but nobody posted anything and it seems unlikely to me that nobody had any answers to give!? just a thought thats all, were all enthusiasts trying to keep corrado alive, so help a brother out!
-
just get it all, the dizzy and cap are literally peanuts to buy!
-
it seems nobody seems to like answering threads these days, unless your a well known member that is...... anyways il try and help seeing as nobody else is, i had the same problem, change the dizzy cap and rotor arm and this should help, mine didnt like the damp either and it turned out my dizzy cap suffered from damp bad! There easy to change and are only a few quid, if that doesnt help id go to the coil next again easy to change, and if those dont work go onto spark plugs and ht leads, may help to spray a bit of wd40 about on the electrical connections etc....not sure if thats good advice but i do it to try and protect them from the elements! Also take it for a good blast every now and again i do it in my 16v and it always runs better afterwards! Hope this helps!

My 1800 16v is a bit quiet and whilst im not after cherry bomb saxo type noise from my exhaust i do want it louder as its really quiet! If i got rid of the cat and had standard back box would that make it louder? Or should i get rid of the middle silencer and keep the cat OR.... get rid of the center box, cat and keep the back box so its almost a straight through system? mines a 1990 model so i dont need the cat on there for an mot but would having it like this make it likele to fail an mot due to emmissions??? Thanks for any help recieved and i would just like to emphasise i am not a rude boy chav or anythign just want some noise to liven things up a bit!!!
-
As some of you may know i was having starting issues on my 16v where it wouldnt fire on all cylinders and would idle at about 500revs then after 30 secods or so would be fine and run as normal.... well..... After replacing the rotor arm and dizzy with no avail i had a good rummage around under the bonnet and noticed that one of the hoses around the back of the engine behind the airbox wasnt connected to its relevant connector, connected it and so far the start up issue is solved! no idea why this hose would sort it but it seems to have done, no idea what it does either but hey ho should have looked properly in the first place hahah result :)
-
Thanks david, think i need a direct line to you hahah re tensioned it and seems to be fine now, altho my strange start up problem is still there even after dizzy cap and rotor arm replacement, might try the a new coilpack next....

Replaced my PAS belt today and it went well but now my steering feels tighter and heavier and the belt squeels when i move the wheel... Do i just need to slacken the belt off a touch to calm things down? I know its not the pump as it was fine before the belt change! cheers

1.8 16v alternator / power steering belt replacement
hyland770 replied to hyland770's topic in Engine Bay
gave it a go and although probably not the best way to do it i managed it, pretty much loosened off every nut and bolt around the PAS pump to get enough slack to get the PAS belt off!!! replaced it and now the anoying whirring noise that came from the engine has gone so im guessing that old belt was the cause! looked at the alternator belt whilst i was there and it didnt need replacing so just tightened it up a bit so all in all a success. BUT.... I think i may have the PAS belt too tight as when i turn the wheel stationairy it whines a bit?? However the steering feels much better now which is also good! Thanks for the advice and help that made it possible hahah -

hyland770 replied to hyland770's topic in Engine Bay
and i just have to loosen them off and that will give me enough to get the belts off, that plus the alternator should be about an hours work then....right!? hahah
