Top nut hex size? Looking for a good allen/hex key
OllieVR6 replied to OllieVR6's topic in Drivetrain
Thanks for the replies, the Draper tool seems more readily available that the Sykes version, will it be good enough? I also read here that you need two specific tools from VW. I found that one of the tools looks like these on ebay look the same and they are cheap, has anyone bought one? -
Can anyone confirm the size of the hex/allen key required for the VR6 front strut top nut please? (I think it's 7mm) I'm going to be doing my top mounts soon and I want to make sure I have all the right tools. I know from experience that 'regular' allen keys can hurt your hands if the bolt is tight so I'm thinking of getting this as it has a rubber handle: http://www.mptools.co.uk/products.asp?partno=68425 It's the only one I can find with a handle, so unless anyone knows of better allen keys for the job (or a good set in general) I think it looks like a good one.

THE Corrado Forum 2.0 FEEDBACK THREAD
OllieVR6 replied to Andi's topic in Site Comments and Questions
Well I managed to send a PM to myself, so yeah I think I got confused! Haha. -
Perhaps I have missed it, but I can't find the 'old, old' knowledge base pages...did they get left behind? (I was just looking for the VR6 servicing guide). Also I see the new one (that was never really started or finished) doesn't work any more either. I don't know if it is open to suggestion, but in case it is, I didn't really like the newer wiki...it was clunky and was stuck in 800px resolution.....is there any chance we can use MediaWiki? I believe it is free and open source.

Perhaps this has already been asked (although the super new search didn't find anything), but are existing subscriptions still in place? I believe I set mine up with Paypal, however I see there is something built into the new user CP. Should I leave my existing sub in place with Paypal, or cancel it and re-do it through the forum? Cheers. -

Hey Andi, Nice upgrade mate, LOVE the new forum. Have to say the Twitter updates were fab, a very nice touch! Ollie. -
I'm looking forward to this!

Followed an N reg VR down park road in Camberley tonight at about 5.45, who was it? :D

I haven't tried it myself yet, but I have heard/read/seen amazing things about Bilt Hamber (specifically the Deox products). I will be trying it out later this year so I will let you know how I get on. I tried Kurust before now and it was rubbish (I might have been doing it wrong :? ).

Wow that is some pretty awesome customer service right there! Joining the forum to post progress, I have never known that before! And Jim is right, finding a trust worthy body shop is hard work so people WILL travel if they know they are going to get quality work done.

Help get obsolete parts re-introduced via VW Classic Parts!
OllieVR6 replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in Suppliers Forum
Great thread. How does this process work, do they need a certain amount of requests? What are the chances of parts going back into production? -
Reminds me of something out of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit!

I'm after a boxed Dreamcast (as mint as possible) if anyone has one lying around in a loft or cupboard. As a collector I'm a bit anal so it needs to be minty with all the instructions/inserts and so on. I know there are a few on ebay but you never really know what you are going to get from there. Let me know what you've got, Cheers!

When I did my matrix I'm pretty sure there was no way this box was coming out without removing the dash. In fact, anyone who is doing the matrix should take the opportunity to sort out this part while they have the dash out. Wish I had done mine!

This is what I got when I was made redundant a couple of years ago. I walked away with 1 months wages in total - I had been working there for nearly 4 years :gag:

Wow, if for £25 you can get a new original stereo with ipod connector, I want one now!

Hmm, this sucks. So I need to put a chip/crack in the screen then arrange for them to take it out then fit a new one another day? I know it varies greatly but if I need it welded, what's a ball park figure for how much I will have to pay to get it collected on a flat bed and get it welded?

Alex, if it was me, I'd get the iron out the bumper, get the rust off with a wire brush on a drill, then see how much is left. You might find that with some hammerite smooth on it, you don't need to replace it. Worth a shot before you shell out for new iron?

After replacing the foliage cover seal to try and fix the leak in the cabin I have finally found the culprit  The top corner of the windscreen seat on the passenger side is rusty and is letting water in :( Is it possible to remove a windscreen and then refit it, or are they useless once they have been removed? I'm not going to know how bad it is without getting it taken out but after seeing some of the horrors on here I'm a bit worried about it all. I'm hoping I can get a fitter round to remove the screen, leave it with me, I'll clean it up and fix the rust, then get them back to refit it. Will this be possible? What do you think I will be charged? Cheers, Ollie.

I think potholes on minor roads is to be expected and should be fixed as soon as possible, but potholes on motorways is simply unacceptable! It's lethal and they should be fixed immediately  Use our goddam road tax to fix the goddam roads!

This thread is depressing!!!!

I see you have had a taste for the Pugs! I had a 205 XS for my first car, not nearly as nice as the GTi but it was a good car, always wanted to do an MI16 conversion. Would be good to see some pictures of the Storm. Let me know if you want to sell the coilovers to help fund some standard shocks, or you can have my shocks in exchange :)
