  1. Can't answer the question directly, but the ones I have fitted are marked as follows, which I think are the same recommended for the Corrado VR6. Might be able to use this info to get the answer from the H & R website. H&R springs H&R X/1 KBA 90445 Golf III VR6 29872 HA/R1

    Rebuild progress

Big day today. After 8 months of rebuilding effort, finally completed all the preparation work. Car is now with the bodyshop for painting.
  4. Hi Tom, If you do split I will take the ISV. Cheers, Andrew
  5. Just wanted to add my admiration for all your efforts. Fabulous :salute: Can I ask what belts you used? Front & back? Were they a straight fit or did the mounts need tweaking? Many thanks, Andrew
  6. Hi Gaz, Can I add my name to the list, understanding there are no promises? Cheers, Andrew
  7. Hi Erny, Neil Davison (Sheffield based) has been breaking his white VR6 and may not yet have sold the tank. I think his breaking thread has dropped off the 'Parts for Sale' board but I have PM'd him to look at this wanted post. Cheers, Andrew

  9. Thanks for the suggestions and explanations. I have a carpet down, which helps with the diurnal cycle, but the construction of the garage doesn't lend itself to any easy permanent remediation. A dehumidifier would do the job, if I sealed the gaps, but looks like it would be expensive to purchase and run, from my research (big garage). Hence why I have looked at the 'garage within a garage' solution. They seem to be popular with the classic car fraternity, but probably not (yet) with us 'neo-classic' owners. Cheers,
  10. I use AutoAid which is a pay and claim service. Full personal cover for £37 a year http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/. Gets a good write-up from Moneysavingexpert.com http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/roadside-recovery.
  11. I have a concerete sectional garage which has lots of condensation in the winter. Having spent a lot of time and effort this year on a full refurbishment and respray, which is approaching completion, I am not keen to let the Corrado sit covered in condensation for a few months. I have done quite a bit of research on my options and it looks like the most sensible and cost effective idea is put the car into a storage 'bubble' inside the garage. There seems to be four choices: AIrflow airchamber:http://www.airflow-uk.co.uk/Airchambers/ Carcoon: http://www.carcoon.co.uk/carcoons/index.asp Cair-o-port: http://www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk/acatalog/CairOPort.html Permabag: http://permabag.com/ I like the convenience idea of a framed one so you can use the car on suitable days without too much hassle. Just wondering if anyone uses them and has any feedback? Many thanks.
  12. This has worked for me for the last 12 years. Never had a damp battery cover since. Black foam draught excluder. Bit hard to find these days in black. Runs from the windscreen deflection plate down to almost the headlight. Being black it isn't noticeable. . What a good idea. There are bunch of various foams in different profiles available from here: http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/bbCMS/shopping.asp?intDepartmentId=1
  13. Looks like you did a great job there :salute: . Funny you should mention the OEM battery cover as that was a key element in the water ingress as the rain ran down the front wing channels and saturated the battery cover and the wiring loom wires close by. Serves me right for polishing the wing channels! Yes, just seen that and have posted a potential supplier of the foam edging that RW1 mentioned, which I think is a good idea. I would also be happy to send you some of the dirt from my wing channels
  14. Ah, understood. No idea on the surgical gloves issue, but I used a small, click-top tupperware box, just larger than the relay block. Slid the battery as far left into the engine bay as possible and put the box between the battery and the inside of the N/S wing. The battery and box are within one of the OEM fabric battery covers so it all looks very tidy.
  15. I use some cleaned out, clear plastic, paint tester pots: Homebase own brand ones, I think.
  16. Hi Paul et al, Many thanks for the info. Will have a root around the fuse box. On both sides I presume that the central locking tube has to be unclipped and fed out? Am thinking about chopping it and re-joining using some aquarium air line hose fittings, if I can (a) find the right diameter and (b) the fittings will work with the rigid pipe. ^^ +1 ? :) Good idea on the photos. Currently I must have about 50 little polybags all labelled up with what everything is for and have also used a Dymo label maker to label plugs and cables. But, I am starting to forget what things look like when assembled.
  17. I need to take the doors off but an unsure about what you do with the door cables and central locking air tube. Do they all need to be unclipped and fed out of the door, or are there some connectors near the hinges? Thanks
  18. I used to see these advertised for the Mk2 when I owned one. Have just checked Ebay; see here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/V-W-GOLF-MK2-1983-1992-FUEL-FILLER-SURROUND-BRAND-NEW-/350370968428?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5193bcb36c#ht_1440wt_1114
  19. Mmmmm! I really like the red rears; looks very nice. Have also been thinking about this. Any more detail on what you did (paint/film), what LED's etc? And where did you get the pressed plates?
  20. Most kind. Ah ha! So, not me this time. Hurrah! :). Engine mount! You must have been watching me yesterday. Rebuilt the front end (my first time) so I could move the car: rad support panel, crossmember, front bumper iron, put the rad back in, topped up the coolant and PAS fluid, went to take out the support under the sump/gearbox and then noticed what I had missed  .
  21. Can anyone tell me where this cable goes? It is part of the wiring connectors and cable tidy which sit on the front engine mount. It is yellow with a black stripe and is attached to the loom going to the black plug. When taking the front end off, I only removed the two connectors for the fans, AFAIR. The same cable is shown in the last picture which is from the Wiki on chain replacement. 22. Hear, hear. But, for once, I am really, really struggling with spending £140+ on two mirror glasses.
  23. As of last week: £57.56 including VAT for the left mirror (available on back order), flat glass, part number 535 857 521A :)
