  2. Personally i think it looks like the undertray screws used in 6n2 polos, either way a torx bit tends to denote that its not original 'rado. Hope this helps.

  8. Where abouts are you located mate?
  9. Vw list the part as a camshaft sensor. the engine will run fine without it in principle as it has mechanical ignition timing, however the auto advance/retard will not work properly. so you wont notice any running problems, just a tad retarded ignition at high revs. Hope this is of help
  10. I would have said the answer would be no unfortunately. :-(. Have you thought of getting a mk2/3 golf one. should fit.
  11. I run just an ebay one on mine works fine, its only 3/4 wires guys. not hard work really is it. like danny said generally three wire lambda's have 2 white heater wires and a black signal wire. should match the bosch ones on the loom plug. then it should earth through the system. Should have a little diagram in with your sensor.
  12. what colour are the wires on your plug and new sensor?
  13. Yeah thats exactly what mine has got, auto data, previous knowledge, and the the injection system suggest that it comprises 2 switches. this can also be deduced from the tests previously outlined, What sort of problems is this causing with your car? i.e. the symptoms?
  14. KE-jet injection doesnt need a potentiometer as fueling is only electrically aided. its primarily mechanical. they may sell a modified part, although i cant see why. or maybe the guy at the dealer is trying to give you the wrong bit? who knows. Can you describe your problem in a bit more detail and hopefully i can shed some light on it for you. Thanks james
  15. on a 2.0 16v the throttle body should contain a 3pin connector. Pin 2 being the earth. and 1&3 are Closed and Wide open switch feeds respectively. If you wish to check if yours is working all you need is a simple ammeter and to carry out the following tests pin condition resistance 1&2 Throttle closed Zero 1&2 Throttle Slightly open Infinity 2&3 Throttle closed Infinity 2&3 Throttle fully open zero If youre getting anything else you have a faulty switch, if this is the case, then need to test the wiring to the ecu before condemning it. ill let you know which pins on the ecu if needs be.
  16. that is your camshaft sensor. Fairly integral for the running of the engine. should be on the no.4 HT lead. im not 100% this is totally advisable, try it on another old lead first but on the plug end simply pull the lead out of the plug cap then the sensor will slide off. lead should just push back into the cap with a satisfying click. if this is sucessful then do that. Hope this is of help.
  17. Best way to isolate the alternator to test is to check the voltage from the back of the alternator to a known good earth, as opposed to just across the battery. anything around 13-14 is fine. failing that you'd need a pretty beefy ammeter to measure the charging current.
  18. 0.69 amps is very high for a drain, 4.8 isnt too bad with the ignition on. My 16v drains 0.1 A. which is still quite high. if it dies whilst running then youre not charging properly, an alternator delivers upto 90amps, only a short would drain that, but that would cause some sort of fire. My guess if youve changed the alternator is that youve got a poor earth or another faulty alternator. Hope this is of help.
  19. Does that battery die whilst the car is running mate? Or does it just drain very quickly after use?
  20. The filter should be on the outer tank pump under the offside rear seat (accessed from the underneath.) Just while we're on this thread, i have a 2.0 16v and on a totally motorway run at 75mph i get 34mpg at best, and more like 22 across town; tyre pressures are fine, new filters all round, injector spray patterns look fine. what sort of noises will the fuel pump make if it busted? Anything else i should be aware of? Cheers for the help
  21. Seats and frames now sold. thanks for the interest guys
  22. I bled my abs unit through even though i had all new pipes and calipers and the unit had been dry for 2 years. Have you bled the master cylinder??
