Last week got blown away by an M3, last night got smoked (literally) by some scooby. Now i know the old P1's are fast and this one looked like it had been worked but as we opened up of a roundabout it was pretty even until i reached 5k in 3rd and was running out of puff. His scooby then just lit up, massive black smoke out the back and funny smell, not petrol like and he dissapeared off into the distance and i mean over 20 car lengths like i was standing still. Not sure if NOS smells but i have rarely seen a car take off like that. I know the old Vr is never going to beat them but i must be able to put up more of a fight. I think the easiest way is going to be a bolt on supercharger. Anyone know how much i would be looking at to buy a kit ready to bolt on and if its worth looking for second hand. I dont have a clue what i need to look for and what might be wrong with a second hand one. cheers jez

Keep the Corrado Man! I have been through no end of cars golfs early-late, bmw's, landrover? porsche, lotus its a running joke that my friends bet that i won't keep the next one for more than a couple of months. That was until i found the VR! I use mine as a daily. It gets 30 ish MPG on my commute, makes all the right noises when you push the loud pedal and it is practical. Its a hatchback with 4 seats. When ever i have sold a car be it mk1 golf or elise i always regret it afterwards as i love my cars. However when i bought the corrado it was just right. All the things i had looked for in others cars in one car. Classic style, understated, practical (even had roof bars on mine) performance when you want and not a million bazzed up ones outside halfords on a friday night. They will become a true classic in a few more years and lets face it niggles aside they are still a lot of car for the money and i still love the looks from the average jo who i can tell think thats a damn fine looking car but what is it? Keep it, you know you wanna really or you would not have to ask this question :D

E30's are brilliant handling cars. I had a 325i with suspension and solid mounts it was a beast. ahhh where are you now e806vua? Would show many a modern bimmer its heels. Think it was quicker than my Vr6 to be honest and a lot more fun on roundabouts :D

Any more pics?? The reason i ask is i have installed HID;s before and there is so much variation on quality of the equipment. Are these the newer slimline ballasts? Also what temp are the bulbs? Think you need to make clear if this is a really good quality kit or not as there are plenty kicking about on ebay for half your asking price which perhaps why there has not been masses of interest. I am interested but the kit needs to be quality. cheers jez

Very nice, think i have seen those brackets on this forum before. They are for the standard radiator which if i replace i will defo be getting a set of. I am after a alloy radiator though like godspeed but in the uk. thanks for the reply i will ask the folks at dgtech see if they know anyone. cheers jez
-
I need a replacement radiator and given the mixed reviews of aftermarket rads thought i might as well go for an alloy rad for improved cooling. Have seen some godspeed ones in the big US of A but dont really fancy the damage that might be caused shipping it all that way. Does anyone know of a source in the uk of a good alloy rad to fit the VR?? Preferably one that will slot straight although i would consider a universal one if its not too hard to make fit. cheers

Hi there i might be interested in this. What brand is the kit and are the bulbs twin fliament hid or halogen dipped or solenoid operated? Also are the bulb bases plastic or ceramic/metal. Some pics of the actual kit and bulbs would be good. Cheers jez

oooh what work did you have done? i am intrigued!! Will check them out, think my arches have been rolled already just need a bit more flare :D cheers jez
-
Their work looks good, where abouts are they?? Nr you? Think they may be too far for me to travel.

Hey folks, after a drop and some hefty rims i have a few issues with tyres rubbing. The rear not so much its just the arch is a bit out of sorts and needs smoothing out again but thought might as well get it flared at the same time. The fronts only scuff very slightly on more than half lock which i thought i could live with but now its getting on my tits. I only need a bit of flaring and i have no arch liners to worry about fitting so should i? The other option is wait a few weeks till the roads get salted for the winter. Apply a few rainy days and wait for the arches to rot out. After a few days they should be crappy enough. Roll out the grinder and welder  Cut away offending arches and weld in new metal flared parts. Fill and get sprayed. This option does have a great potential to go horribly wrong if i cant get the arch back together properly although i am a good welder/fabricator. A couple of the arches are bubbling on the edges anyway so a lick of paint is in order anyway. Just looking for advice on what to do and if theres anywhere in norfolk who does it?? I am on coilovers but please dont suggest lifting the suspension as i love it down here in the weeds! cheers jez

Quick update, the Stutter i had returned fairly shortly after my last post. it was bucking so much that it snapped the front engine mount!! Trouble was it wouldn't always do it. It was always after idling at the lights or a junction that would trigger the stutter on acceleration. A quick dip of the clutch to let the revs fall back to idle and it would be fine. I tried plugs, leads, induction pipe, isv, isv damper, fuel filter, Maf and was just living with it until today. I got thoroughly pissed off. Got a second hand throttle body cleaned everything up and swapped over the used throttle position switch. When i started it it backfired and wouldn't run so i reset the ecu and its all okay now, well hopefully. Even the idle speed is at 650 rpm whereas before it would not go lower than 950rpm no matter what i did, even with the throttle stop adjusted right back. Dont know why i was so worried about the TPS as it was a doddle to switch really and now (fingers crossed) my girlfriend will be able to drive it without the fear of death after pulling out at a junction and getting rear ended as it cuts out. :D

Definitely a bit of a bodge, looks like they have deleted the plastic thing, think its a damper or something. You could just get a decent one piece bit of hose and delete the damper without all the joins and horrible bends. Did mine and cant say i noticed much difference but a nice bit of silicone hose makes all the difference  oh and cable ties are great but not perfect for sealing pipes, try a couple of jubilees or hose clips to get a good seal just in case there is an air leak. Just a thought but did you completely disconnect the battery as i think you can reset the ecu doing that. maybe needs to relearn the settings again. there is a recommended procedure for doing this. Have a search around theres a few posts on it.

Hi Andrew, i got a set of Vf Engineering mounts 2nd hand from this forum. They are a nice piece of kit well made. I have fitted the front mount and it has firmed the engine quite a bit but is not harsh or noisy. Will be doing the other 2 mounts later this week. Paid £200 for them but they are nearer £350 new i think. Not sure i would want to pay that much though. All the best Jex

Yep i know but it seems theres not really a lot of choice. its either VF or Vibratech as far as i could find. Black forrest industries who looked like a potential did not want to know. Ah well its sorted now, well sort of. cheers jez

Sorted some nice VF Engineering Mounts now. Thanks for the replies guys, really helpful!!

Just been replacing my front engine mount with a vf one as there was a hell of a lot of play in it. On closer inspection it seems that the passenger side mount bracket bolt was missing the bottom drivers side was not tight and the bracket has snapped under the top bolt. so basically it was held by one loose bolt. Bugger! Just another of the previous owners bodges no doubt. Anyway i am now obviously in need of a replacemant bracket but my question is this. The top of two the front engine mount bracket bolts on the drivers side has a captive nut welded on i think. However there is no bolt. On mine its got what looks like a stud coming out of the block and the bracket is on that. Is this normal, should it not be a bolt as i cant see any way to remove it as the bracket is tight against the engine so obviously cant spin round on the thread. The pain is i cant really get a good access either so cant get mole grips on it, might just be able to get it with a couple of bolts on the end though. Hope this makes sense. if not i basically need to know if the front engine mount bracket is held on to the engine with three bolts not two bolts and a stud. cheers oh and where can i find a cheap replacement bracket? unless i can get this bit off and weld it up! cheers

Bump as the engine is denting the bonnet now!!! Anyone know where i can get black industries mounts? uk distributor??

Hi folks just looking for some help on uprated mounts. i see from searching that people use the vibratech and vf mounts but these seem a bit pricey to me. I have seen mounts available for mk3 and mk2 golfs out of uprated material and wondered if they can be used. I know that vr6 ones are normally listed differently as they are oilfilled but would a say mk2 gearbox mount fit or a mk3 front mount? The reason i ask is that i have seen poly bushed ones available on ebay that might fit and save a few pennies. The other option is to order from the states who seem to have much better selection of mounts at much less cost. Ideally i would like a solid front mount. Any links or advice would be great as i need this sorting asap as my engine is wobbling all over the place!! Before anyone says i know that solid mounts are bad for vibration etc as i have been there before as i made some welded solid mounts for my e30 but dont have time right now to try on the vr so need something off the shelf. cheers jez :)

Bugger i must have only just missed them! Unless i was one and was half asleep

Did not see the plates but only a side view as you went by. Used to think there wern't many around but seems to be loads now. Maybe its because i am relatively new to corrado ownership and now i notice them more but i still used to look out for vw's in my mk1 golf. oh well, see ya round maybe

As has been mentioned does not really matter on the thickness except that they look bling. What matters more is the quality. Avoid cheap leads the fittings and insulation are rubbish, i had to return two "new" sets of cheapo leads due to current leakage out of the insulator bits that go over the plugs. Like most things in life you get what you pay for.
