Guys Can anyone help with this query? Now, on the VR6 cam cover, theres an outlet on the rear left of it which on my engine has a plastic breather pipe with a grey 'blanked-off' sensor which then connects to the plastic inlet pipe. Now, I've seen some VR6s where this plastic breather pipe has been removed/blanked off and the outlet from the cam cover has a small filter attached. What does this setup do - any advamtages of doing this? Where can i get this type of breather filter from?...... I'll try and get a pic of one if I can to show anyone who's not sure what I'm rambling on about..... TIA

Agree that although it's a compliment, it's courteous to ask. I found out today that one of the VW parts suppliers in the US has used a pic of my engine for the VR6 metal coolant pipe.......... ....and nope, I wasn't asked either - but it's nice!

Keep up the good work Daz - noticed the cut out scuttle tray too, nice! 8)

My new engine - (progress pics)......update 16/05/05
Valver replied to Valver's topic in General Car Chat
14/02/05 Right, here's an update.........Stripped the engine bay Surface rust on battery tray..... Ground it all back to metal..... Sealed it all with hammerite and red oxide primer and then welded the smooth panel over and seam sealed it all..... ..and here's the bay ready for paint......... Painted smooth inner wings..... ...other wing (left that hole for the air flow meter sensor to be popped through - but could have done it without that! ) Finished bay with painted servo, m/c, overbraid on brake pipes etc... Powder-coated subframe, wishbones, full Powerflex bushes, Eibach ARB.. Powder-coated front cross member.... ..and the engine bolted up with colour-coded gearbox, Vibratechnic mounts.. ..another full frontal..... All this work, including the painting has been undertaken in my single garage, and the man responsible for this automotive mayhem is this little fella........Fatt mk1 (or Dazza!) - keep up the good work dude!! -
Gavin Earley. Yep, all sound guys. It initially had a supercharger on it, but he sold the car to one of the mechanics at Autotechnik who then proceeded to sell all the best parts from it ie. charger, custom leather recaro trim, rallye front etc etc.

2.3 V5 - think early ones were 150bhp and late ones 170bhp iirc?..
-
...and it says he's running 4x100 to 5x100 adapters rather than VR hubs.

Good work fellas - keep up the hard work!
-
Agree with you Kev - the blue one looks like Sukh (bluSLC) one from WestsideVW.
-
From VAG?.........about £500+!!
-
If you want one for MP3 then go for it - I don't usually listen to the radio anyway, so bought an Alpine 'phantom face' HU last year.........saved about £300 on retail price in UK (and that includes the postage!!!)

Aha, thank you for confirming that  Everybody assumes no noise = no chain tensioner wear - WRONG! Yeah, the Passat lump we took apart for my mk2 conversion had no rattle and ran sweet as a nut but we found the upper guide although bolted in, just came apart in 3 pieces when removed and also was worn down to the rivets..... All been replaced with new components now, so should be good for the next 100k or so...
