  1. Yes, basically the same weight. This place is the UK importer and will have the full specs... http://www.justoffbase.com/optima/
  2. Cheers Kev. Yeah, the yellows are the better ICE battery, but they've still got some serious cranking power although not quite as much as the reds. Best part is that they can be mounted any way even upside down (alledgedly) as they're sealed gel - so mine will prob be laid flat in the spare wheel well when the VR goes in..... 8)
  3. LOL! already have one, my current 16v, now covered 235000 miles and used daily......
  4. Cheers for the comments guys! Daz> yep, definitely need that pedal box/shifter mech asap please......still got your rims too! dr mat> LOL, yeh I'll have to change my username to 12valver!...
  5. Just a little progress report on my engine rebuild ready for the transplant into my Mk2 Golf. Stripped down the 140,000 mile engine to a block, checked bores and look good, so gave it a good clean before painting it up..... ....and here it is after paint.... Some ancillaries fitted inc new water pump and metal crack pipe..... Box full of assorted chrome brackets, bolts, nuts, washers etc.. Fully rebuilt head from StealthRacing, cams fitted along with polished lower inlet manifold.... All new chains, guides, tensioner, head gasket etc.... Polished rocker cover, alternator and thermo housing fitted... Upper manifold trial fitted......still need to fit injector rail etc.. ....just bling it!!.......... Hope you like it, it's been done over the last couple of weekends and most of the stuff was bolted together yesterday.....will keep you posted! ;)
  6. It is back down to 290bhp now as he's dropped a standard 225 lump and K04 in to sell it - his other engine, big turbo etc which was nearer 400bhp is going into another project.......
  7. Sweet car mate, love those S3's.....and you don't see that many Nogaro blue ones on the road either - lovely!!

    Teledial alloys?

All Porsche wheels like Design90s, 928s, Teledials etc are 5x130pcd - offset ranges from about 52 upto 70 depending on width ie. from 6 upto 9inches wide.
  9. Yeh, cheers for that guys - you're just confirming what I'd thought, may as well do it while it's all apart anyway.
  10. Guys just wanted to know if the chains themselves are pretty robust or if they stretch with mileage? My mate has stripped down my VR lump as we're rebuilding it (it had 140k on it), it didn't have the dreaded chain rattle but the plastic guide was quite worn - nearly to the rivets, which is when the noise starts iirc?.....Now, can I re-use the old twin chain or should it be replaced, bearing in mind it hasn't skipped or jumped on the sprockets etc so seems to be ok?.......It's about £60 +VAT from VAG so i'd rather not fork out if I dont really have to?...... Cheers
  11. Hmmmm, call me cynical but I wonder how many potential buyers he is stringing along who will send him £1000 and then never hear from him or be able to get hold of him or their money again?.............

  13. You can use the 312mm's off a TT aswell.
  14. Have a chat with John from Stealth Racing - he's selling his 20vT Corrado. It's on DTA, runs about 280bhp/290lbft, and has done a 13.5 qtr and 5.1s to 60 dash. Oh, and Greg Howell from Southam bodies has fully resprayed it too!
  15. Hmmm, currently have an uprated 90A one on my 16v Golf - the one on the VR6 engine I'm transplanting has a 70A one as standard but I'd rather have the biggest one I can get due to ICE system (2 RF amps), Xenon HIDs, possibly SatNav/screen etc... Cheers
  16. Can anyone tell me if all the VR6 alternators are the same but with different voltage regulators? ie. if I have a 70A or 90A alternator can I just swap the regulator for a 120A or 150A one?..... or are the internals totally different?... Cheers in advance.
