As people have said already, it's down to personal preference. In terms of reliability and fuel consumption I would say they are both fairly similar. Also I wouldn't say that the G60 being less common is a good thing.

I have seen a lot of people complain of noisy idling on the VR6, so I assume it is just a characteristic of the engine and nothing to seriously worry about. As for the acceleration problem, im not sure :(
