Upgraded Headlight Wiring Loom keeps blowing fuse
somersetdub replied to akacheesy's topic in Exterior
Did you make and wire up the loom yourself? I had this when I made my own uprated loom and it turned out I had two wires the wrong way round on one of the relays. I had exactly the same fault as you and with a 25amp fuse it worked, so could be worth double/triple checking that all the wires are going where they should. -
Rear Brakes Locking After Fitting 288mm to front. HELP!
somersetdub replied to Philuk's topic in Drivetrain
Mk3 hoses with banjo fitting is what you need for mk3 288s. Perfect fit. -
Absolute W@^%ers. Gutted for you. I've had cars broken into for stereos before and that's bad enough, but what the chavs have done to yours is awful. I reckon you would be able to sort it out fairly easily though, there's so many good people on this forum and you should be able to find a wing and door mirror quite easily. It looks like the worst bit is the rear arch, but that looks repairable. I suppose the biggest expense would probably be the painting, but if you could prep it yourself it wouldn't necessarily have to be too expensive. Hope you are able to get it sorted, it would be a great shame if other people's stupidity ended Corrado ownership for you.

No worries. The offer still stands if you can't find one locally and wanted to get a courier to collect it. It is from a mk3 vr6 I broke some time ago and is sat doing nothing. Better that someone has some use out of it.
-
I'm in Somerset, where are you?
-
I have one, you can have it if you can collect it :-)
-
Thanks Redfox, yeah I think it looks loads better now. The shape of the recaros definitely suits the Corrado. I was quite happy with the original interior, but the recaros are just so much sportier. I just checked out your thread, looks like you're doing a great job with your grey interior. I didn't have any door card damage on mine, but the leather had come unstuck in a few places, so I used a hot glue gun to restick it.
-
I did... Still got it too, currently trying to decide what to do with it.
-
Thanks, merry Christmas to you too! :-)

A long while since I have added to this thread, but many miles of happy Corrado ownership! I got rid of the 17" wheels some months ago and I'm so glad I did. The car drives, rides and handles sooo much better on 15s! The other more recent addition is a set of electric black leather recaros, which I have been on the look out for for years. I found a tatty vr6 on fleabay with the interior locally, so I bought the whole car and swapped the interiors including power and heating looms. It was a fairly big task and my hands ended up covered in cuts and scratches (mainly from doing the looms), but I think it was worth it :-)

The annoying loose handbrake tunnel cover - a solution!
somersetdub replied to daves16v's topic in Interior
Mine arrived the other day, although I haven't fitted it yet. Instructions look good and it looks like a great mod. Many thanks! -

Could I have one of these with the drill bit and tap please? -

One for me please -
Are you sure there's no play in the rack itself? Or even a column problem maybe? It seems as though everything else has been replaced!
-
Harry, it definitely sounds like rear beam bushes for you.
-
Very good point, mine did behave that way before I replaced mine, they were knocking quite badly too.
-
How about knackered steering rack?
-
I'm thinking maybe the late corrados had mk3 calipers and the early ones had mk2? I'm using mk4 calipers and mk3 pads.
-
Good luck! I can't really help you with this unfortunately, but I do empathise! The fan on my vr only works in speeds 1,2,3 and not 4, which is rather puzzling!

Hi Tom, I did pm you a few days ago, did you receive it?
-
The new bearing races can be tapped in carefully with a hammer, using the respective old race as a drift. No press required.
-
That's fine, thanks :-)
-
Thanks, just checked them out. One set looks good apart from having a big dent in one of the wheels. There's another set, but it's collection only and it's miles away. So is the consensus that 15's will give a better ride, without sacrificing handling when compared with 17s? (I think I must be getting old, thinking about ride quality over aesthetics!)

I'm interested, will you send them by courier? Do you have any photos? Thanks
