  1. Bump I also have a late 2.8 vr6 engine which I no longer need - when I bought it, it was sold as having 80 odd thousand miles, but I have no proof and I haven't heard it running. The gearbox was at fault apparently. Also £100 collected
  2. Would you be able to send me some photos please?
  3. Hi all, I am after 2 standard vr6 speedlines in straight, undamaged condition. Paint condition not so important as I will be getting them powder coated. Thanks
  4. It's not going to be easy for me to send it, that's why I put collection only I'm afraid. I have also priced it low to allow for someone to come and collect it. It was a coil pack engine, but I have removed the upper timing chain cover and the magnetic pick up on the end of the cam for my new engine. Meaning it is now basically dizzy spec, although obviously it could be converted back to coil pack by swapping parts again.
  5. Due to a new engine, my old one is now for sale. It's a 1993 ABV engine and was running well before removal. In cold weather it tended to be a bit rattly first thing, but the performance was good and it didn't smoke. It is just the bare engine and cylinder head and I have swapped the upper timing chain cover to allow my new engine to run coil pack. The engine has covered just over 140k, but did have a rebuild at 90k - I have the invoice for this. Collection only from Merriott, Somerset £100 Thanks
  6. Well a good day today, I managed to borrow a friend's engine crane and with another friend pulled the engine out. I am just waiting to get hold of an engine stand now so that I can get the new motor on it and start transferring parts. The new motor is a distributor type, so I'm going to need to convert it to coil pack using the timing chain cover from the old one. Not sure what else is involved yet, but I'm sure I soon will! I also began cleaning/polishing/painting a few parts today - dipstick tube, manifold head shield and inlet manifold. So much to do!
  7. Well it's been a long time again since posting on here and this morning rather impulsively i decided to make a start on replacing the engine on my Corrado. I bought a zero miles Vege engine from Rob on here around a year ago now (believed to be the last fully built engine they produced) and have since been meaning to do the swap, but in that time have had my first child and she has kept me very busy! Also, the existing engine has been running great, so there hasn't been much incentive to swap. I have actually been very seriously considering selling the car recently as I haven't been driving it much and fancied a change, but decided I didn't think I would get what I want for it. Anyway, today was the day and I started stripping and the engine is now pretty much ready to come out! So far I have found that one of the front crossmember bolts was missing! The oil pressure switch was snapped at its connection, I have found plenty of tired looking clips and bolts etc. Another issue is that the engine loom at some time has obviously corroded at the multi plug and has been repaired by soldering all the wires, meaning that I had to remove the whole engine loom bit by bit and throw it all to one side. If anyone has an obd1 engine loom complete, I might be interested! The plan is to completely strip the front end and get everything I can powder coated or painted or replaced so that everything is fresh when it goes back together :)
  8. That advert has been making me chuckle all day! Brilliant. It's been relisted now as I think he had to reword it slightly. http://bit.ly/17FwCoi
  9. Yeah, it's about time the Swampy Specials come off and go in the bin 😄
  10. He seems to have gone awfully quiet now. Taken the money and ran I reckon. Doubt he needs a ban, I'm sure he won't be on this forum much any more.
  11. I haven't received any 10mm banjos yet swampy, did you send them?
  12. Hi Neil, I recently bought a Pioneer avh8400bt head unit which is a 7" Double Din. http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/25/109/281/AVH-8400BT/page.html I was looking around for quite a while at various options. I didn't see any with built in digital tv, but i suppose that's not what i was looking for particularly... Maybe you can get a separate digital tuner and plug it into the av in? The pioneer doesn't have a built in sat nav either, but it does have app radio- this allows you to use various iphone apps straight onto the screen including various sat navs, one of which is navfree and it seems to work very well. Or there is Pioneer's own sat nav which I think is £80 from the App Store. There are other apps which are quite fun, one of which allows you to browse the Internet from the stereo! For jail broken iPhones there is a guy currently developing a way of having everything on the phone (display and touch screen) working straight to the head unit, which would be amazing! I have been very impressed by this head unit, it sounds excellent considering my Passat is running standard speakers, much louder and clearer than with the standard one. It is intuitive to use too and navigating around the menus is easy. To be honest I haven't really got much to compare it to, but I'm very happy with my purchase.
  13. Well I would have thought that now I have measured and posted photos of the discrepancy, Swampy might have at least apologised for repeatedly professing that there was nothing wrong with the lines he sold to me. Or better still an offer to rectify the problem.
  14. ---------- Post added at 7:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:16 PM ---------- "There you go then"?! So was I wrong?
  15. But i thought you said they were meant to be slack? Exact? Not really.
  16. Well I have just removed the banjo end on one of my brakes. Banjo bolt - 10mm diameter Banjo end ID - 12mm Pics soon
  17. Sounds feasible and would explain why my lines clearly don't fit quite as they should.
