  1. Hi, I have decided I want to return my vr6 to original speedlines.

I have a set of 17 inch league 5 spoke alloys which are in good condition with 2 Yokohamas and two budget Tyres.

Would anyone like to do a swap/part ex?

  2. If it's definitely not misfiring, then it's doubtful leads etc would make a huge difference, but it might be worth looking in the dizzy cap to check for any obvious corrosion etc.

Also you could take the plugs out to see if they're all the same colour/correct colour.

Maf can definitely cause rough running, but it should show up as a fault code if it's faulty, as should the lambda.

  3. Hi,

I'm currently in the process of replacing the radiator on my vr6, I have some DG brackets and have one 11" spal fan on order as I've heard a few times that one is enough??

Anyway, I am trying to find out a definitive method to wire the fan up.

Currently there is a (in-line) 3 pin switch in the rad and the original fan has four wires, 3 fat, one thin..

Is it just a case if joining the three fat wires together for the positive, with the thin wire being the negative?

  4. I've had both assisted and non-assisted 205s, both are full of steering feel and both are precise and direct.

The only real difference is felt at parking speeds, where obviously the pas equipped car is easier.

To be honest though, i never had a problem with parking the non pas 205, they really are like go karts in the sharpness of their steering and lack of size and weight.

In fact my old 8 valve mk2 golf gti without pas I remember being much heavier and quite hard work when parking.

  5. A couple of other things;

I compared the performance to the golf, but the golf is torquey and not too revvy, the pug is the opposite.

I think if you like cars, a 205 gti wouldn't be great as a cheap runaround because they crave attention and maintenance, much the same as a Corrado does! I was forever chasing rattles and water leaks and other imperfections.

Great cars when they're working properly though, especially with an mi16 installed!

  6. I've had a few. The 1.6 isn't too bad on fuel, but obviously it's a 1.6 and it's quite an old engine now so it will never be great, but I reckon they're similar to an 8v Mk2 Golf Gti in terms of performance and mpg.

  7. Familiarise yourself with the mk4 calipers (the alloy ones)- most VAG cars from that era with rear discs had those calipers, I think the only ones that didn't were the 4wd cars (quattro Audis, r32s etc).

So I think the calipers came on Audi A3s, A4s, maybe even 2wd A6s, seat ibizas, Leon etc, Skoda octavia, vw golf mk4, passat, some polos etc etc..

Correct me if I'm wrong though guys...

  8. I bought Audi A3 ones from eBay for around 30 quid for the pair.

The same calipers came on several Vws, many Audis, also Seats and Skodas, so always worth checking that out, as you may get them cheaper that way :)

  9. Agreed with all the above! - Particularly the ones that get mad if you overtake and the well named 'middle men'!

You can ALMOST start to stereotype types of driver by the cars they drive too! :-•

How about the indecisive ones that approach a roundabout (it's clear), stop.

Then wait until a car actually does come, wait for it to pass, THEN (hopefully) proceed!!?

  10. i was thinking 16vG60 but don't have a spare 1500 lol that and i think the wife will kill me. But who owns the green vr6 that keeps blasting past me every time i'm driving the wife's punto bad times

Not sure, there was a Dragon Green vr in ilminster a while back sat at standard height on big Audi alloys.. Looked like a 4x4! Maybe it's that one!?

Why don't you pick up a vr lump mate, they're pretty cheap now!

  11. L12VRG ive seen twice in the last year or so.... once i was in a transit van heading home after picking up my recaro interior.... you over took me quite rapidly i tried to keep up so i could have a look and got caught speeding .......70 mph!!! i was in a van......gutted....

the first time i saw you i was in my blackberry vr... you were north bound on the 303 i was south bound i did flash and wave but not sure if you spotted or not..

not from yeovil but we are in south devon so a mini meet isnt out of the question guys!

Shit, sorry mate! - I do tend to drive quite quickly at times! - where did you get caught?!

A mini meet would be cool, be good to check out some other Corrados!

  12. Yeah good cheers. Glad to hear you managed to do the matrix without taking the dash out!

Just put a vt front engine mount on mine which feels great, made a good difference.

Sounds like your old one might be back up for sale soon, the guy reckons it's too complicated to work on after the trekker!
