Not sure yet.. it's still work in progress. It's impossible to keep everyone happy unfortunately mate so inevitably someone will get their nose put out of joint!

West Midlands Rolling Road Day Feeler...?
Jim replied to Jim's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Ok :) -
lol.. you're pretty determined.. yes, I am too lazy. But I have tried and did cycle commute for a while. It just isn't for me!
-
Indeed... I do plenty of other drives (parents on the east coast, football up in Grimsby, etc) :)

300-600hp and 100mpg. Too good to be true? Maybe not
Jim replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in General Car Chat
I'd almost say this was too good to be true if it didn't have that sort of pedigree / background! I can't wait to see if this makes it into production!! -
Hi folks... Just sticking out a feeler. Now the nights are turning darker and the days cooler wondered if there would be any interest in a Rolling Road Day. I'd most likely be looking at organising it at Stealth Racing as they've always been good for us in the past and priced runs on the rollers very well! I'd be looking at something like end of October / early November. It'd be on a Sunday. Any takers? :)

Don't worry.. the classified system is going to get overhauled. We have taken the hostility towards it onboard!

A scooter would appeal! I very nearly bought an electric one for commuting purposes. They have sorted a special deal out at work with a company that does something that basically looks like a Vespa, has a range of 40 miles, will do a top speed of 50MPH, is tax free, and they're eventually going to put charging points at work so I could run it for free as well.. was £1,500. But bit late now - committed to the Fiat! Besides, can't really drive to the football in Grimsby with my mate on an electric moped ;)

The problem is that sellers need to mark their items as sold to expire them off the forum.. how are we to know what has sold and what hasn't if the original posters of the adverts don't update the adverts?

Boy we sure do like to jump to conclusions, eh Alex? :) ;) I like cycling recreationally and will happily do 20-30 mile bike rides on a nice day. I did spent a little time cycle commuting last year (5 miles each way) but it just got boring quickly. I just can't be bothered when there is a car just sitting there. The traffic doesn't queue up so cycling in doesn't save me any time but it's REALLY busy and frankly I just got a bit fed up of being nearly knocked off or sideswiped by careless idiots every morning.. there are no cycle lanes around here either. I might come back to it again next summer or I might go through a spell of cycling in the winter.. but I'd rather just go to the gym after work instead for the fitness side of things rather than facing the roads!
-
It's about 3 miles each way. I used to cycle to work on and off but just have no willpower and prefer to just hop in the car each day - lazy I know but.. hey ho. Walked it the other day and it took about 45 minutes each way so a bit far for that every day! ---------- Post added at 03:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:09 PM ---------- Mais oui ;)

I did initially want something with more poke and did consider the Panda 100HP (and then started looking at the Renault Twingo 133.. then the Clio 197...) but was immediately thinking it'd be a mistake purely because it was defeating the point of the exercise.. insurance would go up, tax would go up, fuel economy would go down.. I wasn't trying to get something with performance, I just wanted cheap as chips motoring but still something quite new and with at least an ounce of character. Any of those would have taken away from VR6 expenditure. Maybe once the VR is all tarted up in a few years, I'll swap to something a bit more fun again. Always hankered after a Clio 197.. or would rather like a 500 Arbarth Essesse ;)
-
Seems to be the same for a lot of us. I barely made it to any shows this year! Would be good to catch up though. There's quite a few folks going and some folks coming over from Germany and Holland so a bit of a different crowd! :)
-
Are you coming down to this Scirocco Register meet this Sunday? It's sort of in your neck of the woods!
-
Wasn't you then, Fay? ;)

It's white with black interior. And if I go on a date with someone and they have some kind of problem with the car I drive, then frankly they're not for me! I'd be looking for someone quite significantly less shallow. ---------- Post added at 12:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:58 PM ---------- Yeah - I do like the MiTo a lot but I think it's a bit too big to be considered a super mini - it's based on the Fiat Punto platform and actually pretty large. Aygo I do like. IQ is dreadful though..
-
The 500 is the only supermini I like.. I hate the rest of them! If the 500 wasn't around, I don't think I'd have ended up buying into this class of car..

Does look very good :) Where abouts in Birmingham are you? I'm only over between Coventry and Solihull.

Late Headlight Switch....New Batch Delivered. Fit All Corrado's.
Jim replied to 8vMatt's topic in Forum Group-Buys
Mine came through this morning :) Just in time to go and fit this weekend. Thanks very much for organising this, Matt! -
Is that Ice Grey Violet? Looks lovely!
-
Hahah... I'll think about it! No I do fully accept they really are not the most masculine of cars and I did expect to take some **** taking! :) But really couldn't give a toss.. I think it's an awesome little motor!
-
Yeah - I really couldn't find many complaints about reliability at all. Read a few forums, and read opinions from folks who were early purchasers and have done 50k+ already with no real problems to report so not concerned there at all. As you say, totally different to the VR.. makes it feel all the more special whenever I drive that now :)
-
Tis a 1.2 Pop - so poverty spec (not even alloy wheels) - but has air conditioning and the Blue & Me system which is just excellent. I simply can't believe how much technology they can put into a small / cheap car these days and how well it actually all works. It makes the interior of the Corrado feel like something from the 60's! It's packaged together so well - fit and finish is great, the interior just looks superb, and it's very spacious even around the pedals etc given how small it is. As you say, it's busting with character and even though the engine is quite gutless it does come alive and fizz a bit once you give it some revs! I just wanted something with massive economy and didn't give a damn about performance.. the VR is always there for that, when I need to de-stress or go out for a thrash :)
-
Welcome aboard! £2,500 should get you a very good, straight 2.0 16v. There are some around but you just have to remember the Corrado wasn't made in great numbers, and there are certainly less 16v's around than there are VR's - so you're going to have to be patient and keep trawling the classifieds! In terms of when to look - well I guess heading into christmas is a good time because it's traditionally the time when people have the least spare cash so chances are, if you have the money waiting, you can go and make a good deal with someone! But more cars seem to come out of the woodwork when the weather gets better.. people get itchy feet and think they want to move onto something else.. In terms of finding the right one.. you'll just have to wait for a proper enthusiast owned car to come up. Get us much as you can in terms of pictures, information, history and then decide whether to make the trip over. A lot of folks on the forum are quite happy to look cars over for you and give an unbiased appraisal.. I'm based in Warwickshire and would be happy to do that. And I've owned a few 2.0 16v's so know what I'm looking for :) Hope that helps.

I expected something on that sort of level. Thanks for your valuable insight.
