Hammond is an annoying little dyke. The others are funny but I swear hammond is their to appeal to nans and idiots. He dresses like KD lang with his shit leather jackets and wooden beads around his neck...really wish he would fuck off. The show is what it is though. We can complain but I think we would all rather it was there than not (even with the ratHammond!). I watch every show and some are good and some are as people have said, motorised travel shows.

That's class. This video linked off the one above is quite funny. Sideways rascal. [youtube:12k0fnui] [/youtube:12k0fnui]

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_221665_langId_-1_categoryId_165705 that's the stuff...loads of other uses too. or the proper vw stuff: Defo not WD40 G 052 778 A2.jpg[/attachment:uai1wqlx] G052 778 A2 Lock Lube. Note the the cap labelling "with de-icing effect". Comes with a spray tube as seen and also a lock "slot" adaptor to spray into the key slot. Its a PTFE based product which lubricates and repels water. It's tacky to the surface it's applied to. Used it for years on MK2 Sciroccos. . As quoted above...not sure about 3-in-1 oil or WD40 as these might be a quick fix but not solve the problem.

Had the same a couple of weeks ago. De-icer did the trick but had to do it every time I got in car. Tried to get vw lock grease but had none in stock so got White grease from halfords. Sprayed that on for 3 days in a row and none since. Key turns first time every time.

Drove from London to Liverpool and back over the weekend with no issues. Drove through Hertfordshire today and that was pretty bad but no issues so far. Gave a Audi a6 quattro a push but the old rado was fine! I'm shocked by how some people drive though....people driving up eachothers arsed on the motorway is scary.

compomotives?

I have just got some Passat ones from the stealers whilst my car was at Stealth. The Rado ones are obsolete but the Passat ones can fit but you have to remove quite a few bits and bobs from them (air con switch and plastic bits for lighting) to get them to fit in the Rado. As Dr_Mat says...they are always broken second hand. New ones are not cheap (about £180) but I was sick of not being able to aim my blowers. I'm pretty chuffed I paid the ridiculous amount though with this shitty weather we are having.

Picked car up from Stealth last Saturday after it had new chains / tensioners and a couple of other bits including a new fan / heater panel in dash, HT leads etc. It is like a new car now. Didn't realise how poorly / noisy the engine was before. I was badly hungover when picking the car up so didn't get the chance to quiz Vince and the lads and talk about getting some more work done but I'm sure I will be going back there. Top garage.
-
How much is that costing if you don't mind me asking. Just a ballpark figure. Are you getting the clutch done at the same time? I had quite a few bits done and haven't got the break-dwon on me. I remember when I was getting quotes it was a similar price to other garages but you know they are going to do it with no fuss, being the corrado dons they are. Just give them a shout...Vince will reply with a quote asap. Get it done before the VAT rise too!

Mine's in at Stealth now, with 139K on the clock, getting the chains, mk4 tensioners etc done. Wasn't excessively noisy and ran fine. I just wanted piece of mind and if it gets me a few more years with no issues from the engine then it's relatively cheap. Then I would be looking at a transplant probably.

My girlfriend, never seen a Corrado before, calls it leroy. Reason being that she thinks it's the type of car a skinny lad wearing moschino jeans would drive in the 90s with old school garage blasting out. Annoying thing is I have started referring to it as leroy to her. Annoying.

AA said it needs new HT leads which is probably right...I'm just keen to get a lift up to Stealth so I told them I wasn't gonna wait another day whilst they ordered the leads so begrudgingly they've towed it up today. Should be at Stealth now. So finally getting the chains done and a few more bits whilst there. Getting a courtesy car for 3 days over the weekend from AA too. The tow alone would cover my annual fee, and car for 3 days on top...can't complain really.

crafty...think I'll have that up my sleeve if they turn me down.

I don't think it is broken down but it was pretty horrible to drive and I could see something possibly going wrong soon. I have the full national recovery but it's just if they are willing to accept it shouldn't be driven. Abdul...I'm in Potters Bar now (still not in proper London yet) and probably should take it to Torque but I've heard loads of good things about Stealth and I want somewhere that will give it a good look over and see what else is up with it. It seems like it is starting to go to shit since I moved down south and I haven't had the time to look after it.
-
Now after a while of stress-free ownership my car has decided to play up. My VR started to shake today and run rough. It was late so couldn't look into it but I'm not happy driving it. It's long overdue for the chains so I'm looking on just getting these done with whatever the new issue is. I don't want to drive the 80 miles to Stealth really so I was wandering if I could get the AA to take it there. I have the full cover (except the parts and labour cover). Is it a case that they won't unless the car will not move, or will the AA man who comes out judge whether or not they will take it up to my preferred garage?

Just ordered some. Should have done this in the first place really as the description on ebay actually says it is much better than the foam stuff I used. Cheers mate. Little note to everyone...don't bother with the halfords stuff for your door strips!
-
right...my strip fell off, leaving a load of stubborn tape residue. drove around without it until I had time to attack the old tape and inevitably someone dinged my door in the meantime. anyway...got it off and re-applied with double-sided tape onto a clean door. couple of days later and it fell off again. re-applied with a hair dryer this time and it is starting to peel off again. it's as if the strip is wanting to bend off but it was 100% straight when taped on. the tape I used was from halfords (used 2 rolls of it now) but think I will need something stronger (that won't damage the paint). so...what are your suggestions then? the stuff from halfords is shit tbh.

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

After a couple of weeks working away the battery was as dead as a dodo. Jump start and tested it but decided to get a new battery. -

still trying to decide if I should go for this or not. And if I do black or blue? Anybody got any pictures of a VR6 engine with blue hoses? Think black makes more sense but wouldn't mind seeing VR with blue.

Timing chain - need to find a garage near Liverpool
joeyboswell replied to myfirststorm's topic in Engine Bay
What are doing in Liverpool? Profile says Bournemouth. I'm scouse but just moved down to London. I used a garage in st Helens called just vw (jvw) and had a good experience. I know garages in Liverpool but none that specialise in older vws. This place does and even has a vr6 transplant in the work van. Ask for John. He quoted me about 850 with a new clutch for chains from memory. -
What are the options? Been offered an R32 2003 3.2

Give me a shout if you are selling all the timing parts. Would be interested. -
It does look nice in the camo shot. Don't know if it is the same car as the 'anniversario' which definitely takes design queues from the UR.

Car sailed through an MOT today. Chuffed. Said emissions were like a new car which I ws surprised by. No advisories but he told me that the brake lines will need sorting soonish and i could give the underneath some TLC so gonna get the subframes sorted and general clean-up / waxoyl when I get a chance. Will have to fish through posts here for some advice on it. Nice one for the garage tip Abdul but I was able to come back to Liverpool to get the MOT but might get Torque to do a few little jobs. Will give you a shout when I do mate.
