  1. cheer up man. i pay $350 canadian a month = £140 = £1680 a year! DOUBLE what you pay! i have a spotless history other than my cavalier's stereo being nicked a few years ago now..don't think it even effects the rate. 1990 chev cavalier theft coverage = $42 a year 1990 vw corrado g60 theft coverage = over $1100 a year you guys can complain all you want, you got it good. we all get bent over and greased up over here.. :x :x :x
  2. wow vr, i'm planning a move to fraggle rock! cruisin in my car looking for nice cars is my favourite thing to do!! other than sex. 8) they just announced the release of the R32 over here a couple weeks ago. i'm gonna be in the dealership as soon as it arrives! i remember when i showed up (when i worked there) the morning the le mans TT arrived.. the 337.. and the W8... and jetta wagon..... i think the R32 will be the best of all! ..until the Corrado 3.2L comes out!!
  3. was told by my trusted mechanic friend (who was a vw/audi tech when roccos and rados where new) not to take the car past 5500rpm if not required. he said 6000rpm is a good safe upper limit, especially since it makes good sense to shift at this point anyway. hehe, and he didn't know i'm running a 65mm pulley 8) causes undue charger stress as has already been mentioned. get a shift light too.. that can help not bouncing off the limiter when you're racing your best friend in his japanese RWD... i only did it once i SWEAR!

    Stiff accelerator pedal

oh also.... have one of your friends floor the pedal (with the car off) after you put in the new cable and watch the cable where the adjustment is.. adjust until its just right. one little notch can make a lot of difference. if you leave this slack you'll never use all the car's power. if you make it too tight you'll be buying another cable in a while. good luck.. keep askin questions, sounds like you have all the same problems i've had! aren't corrados FUN!!?

    Stiff accelerator pedal

buy a new cable!!! its true. amazing difference in the feel and satisfaction of the go pedal after you fix the cable. you have to take the lower dash panel above the pedal off. i took my seat out too since it takes 3 seconds in a vw. lie on your back with a flashlight and you can see that the cable is attatched with a loop of wire around a post that looks like a screw or nail with no thread. my cable also had a wire clip holding it in place that looked like a previous-owner quick fix that was a bitch to get off. its a 5 minute job other than fiddling with the hoop and the post.. good luck. GET A NEW CABLE!!!!

    Squeeky brakes

stock pads.. mine don't squeek! try the copper grease. might do the trick..
  7. get those pictures mate! you're doing what i wish i could do, custom parts for my c with a CNC machine! have you ported your charger with it yet???
  8. if its american spec she aint got a 16v. only sciroccos, passats, golfs and jettas got 16v engines over here! (only passats got a 2L) 4 stud = G60 5 stud = VR6 what an ugly, ugly page to put up on the internet. take this down at once! the silver one looks too much like mine!!! :? :(
  9. seen this yet? http://www.bahnbrenner.com/movies/RSRCNC.MPG is that a cnc controlled drill? i used to operate those. seems a simple enough procedure, if you have the equipment..
  10. sounds right to me jon.. many of the cca list members have talked about this. your procedure sounds like the ones i've heard before but i've never done this myself. my car ran wonderfully without any distributor rotating when i ran high octane (110). i have a chip, so maybe it sorts all that out automatically...
  11. hehe. i just told her "i'm a pro".. i was the vw/audi dealership courtesy driver at the time  l.
  12. hey! wagons are cool!! anyone have any pics of the south american c that the guy tried to do up in red and yellow like a pontiac??? THAT is the ugliest c ever!! i wish i'd saved a pic. i usually only save the ones that i'd actually want to look at again!
  13. i think you're driving the wrong girls LowG. when i met my girl i took her down my favourite backroad by my house at 190km. when i looked over at her and saw a grin from ear to ear, i knew she was a keeper!! :D (and at that speed a corrado feels more like 220-230km) anyone have any experience with AVO coilovers? i've heard they're stiff but they drop the car right down to the ground. is there a coilover that offers a comfortable smooth ride up high and a stiff ride down low?
  14. i have seen a number of (over 10) corrados with shaved door handles online...so i'm not *too* concerned with the seal sticking. very good point though. all i'm gonna say is when i have the cash my car's handles are history. what's that bastid gonna think when he goes to jack my car and there's no handles on the door?? 8)

    '83 GTI 8v

i might have finally found an '83 GTI that i can work with. i've been looking for a cheap one in decent shape for a while now. '83 was the first year that vw brought the GTI into north america. i don't know the exact numbers, but as i'm sure many of you know, rabbits weigh nothing. i think this car will be a perfect excuse to swap the corrado's G60... and replace it with a 2.1L 16v turbo.......... heh heh.. in about a year when i've had some more fun first. i'm planning to strip the GTI down to nothing, put in a roll cage, custom dash (sheet metal) and see what kind of times i can get with it. i'm going to check it out this week.. my friend who does body at the vw audi dealership says its worth taking a good look at. needless to say i'm very excited. i'll be using this car as my daily driver
  17. good advice on the live heated washer wire nugget.. i had fuse 14 blowing.. i fixed a bunch of wiring, including the live washer wire floating around.. and problem solved.

    which oil

mobil 1 is fully synthetic. actually, now it says 'new supersynth' on the box. i've been told many times mobil 1 is one of the only things to use in supercharged cars. i've had great success with it. maybe you have different stuff over there.. dunno.

    wipers

you get them at the vw dealership. its a redesigned part replacing the crap wipers we have. i haven't tried this myself but i heard that it is a huge improvement over any of the fixes for the original wipers. i can get part numbers if you'd like, but i don't know if they'd be the same over here..

    ISV

cleaning mine out fixed the problem. i also replaced my breather pipe. use crab or brake cleaner and hold the isv motor side up, do it a few times and put it back on. if the inside surface of the isv gets scored, its garbage. that's what makes em go to hell.. along with your idle. not too expensive though. good luck.

    Rain X

i use rain x all winter... they make a yellow formula that won't freeze and works wonders. the stuff i get is just like washer fluid, but yellow. maybe you guys use something else across the pond.. corrado wipers suck. get the redesigned replacements. about $65US.

    Insurance

i'm with a small local company here in canada. they think i have a clean driving record, i'm 21, did driver's ed, have never claimed anything other than stereo theft and key marks (on my old cavalier) and i have never caused an accident or anything like that. i pay $350cdn which works out to about £140 each month on my '90 G60 which has not been appraised. at first my jap-driving-friends all laughed, then they all ran into stuff.. posts, cars.. more cars.. now they all pay more than me and drive crap cars. they'd be payin a g a month if they drove corrados! ahahahaha :D
  23. jet's got the right idea.. 2.0L 16v G60 Turbo ported from charger to exhaust, dual ram-air intakes, dual exhaust, front-mount IC with fogger, 6 speed, synchro, on coilovers, 17s and z-rated rubber with a couple NOS shots. (then maybe after i drove it once or twice and blew the charger through the hood i'd get a lysholm) 90G60 www3.sympatico.ca/frank.family/G60
