holeinmk1 replied to holeinmk1's topic in Members Gallery
Ah, i do miss this car. Sadly i no longer own it. i sold her after 2 years to a guy in Wigan, far as i know he has now parted with it too. she was a brilliant car and is still missed. she does have m.o.t and is road legal according to dvla website so yes she is alive. Tom -
Corrado 24v v6 - 230bhp+project Hi, I'm selling my Corrado project due to lack of time and money to dedicate to it. This car was converted back in 2009 to a v6 4 motion engine from a 2000/1 bora. The car is otherwise standard apart from fk highsport coilovers and stainless steel exhaust. I had planned to give the car a standard look inside and out with all mods 'being under the skin'. All accumulated spares will come with the car. Presently not running but an easy fix i suspect, as said i dont have the time. feel free to email; [email protected] phone; 075413706fivezero car is on original speedlines not d90's. Spectacular looking car and went like a bat out of hell. A real head turner! plenty more pics available on request. Corrado 90mm front spoiler and anyone interested in some doors?... good conditon(actually better than my own!) no cracks or splits etc. one lug is broken but should'nt affect the fitment. collection please due to size. and would anyone be interested in some doors? they are off a '90 fairly rust free altyhough they are marked and have the odd dent. glass is with them. electric window loom and motors (removed but present with switches). one has a mirror. think i pinched the seal off one of them but the other is fairly complete. sorry for the roundabout description and terrible pic. 5? So after a almost 2 year slumber in the garage, Pearl is going back on the road. I took the c off the road due to numerous starting issues and am now working my way through them. First big job is to re-relocate the battery back to the engine bay. Pics and update soon. Tom -
spotted j200 dub this morning about 8.10ish on the a56 heading bury /manchester direction. looked very smart.

I know this isn't the place, but....Golf mk2 content
holeinmk1 replied to holeinmk1's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks guys but she has now changed her mind. Looking at a lupo instead, to be fair the insurance is cheaper and it should feel a fair bit newer to. Thanks anyway for the advice, shame really would'nt have minded having a baz about in an 8valve again lol. tom -
My wife is learning to drive and after a bit of looking around and insurance checking we've finally (kind of) settled on getting a mk2 Golf gti (8v) as her first car( i know but its actually not as bad as you may think). Always liked these but never owned one myself, i'm fairly familiar with the old 8 valver so nothing new there to scare me, but any golf mk2 specific quirks/faults to keep an eye open for? Only asking here as i know many members on here have owned these before, and your such a great bunch too.... Tom

N 604/406 DBP VR6 this morning A58 heading from Rammy to Rawtenstall. spotted this one before, flashed beeped and waved but did'nt seem to be noticed. I was in the silver Range rover. Also spotted the back end of a red C hidden deep in the depths of the Garage opposite the eagle and child in Rammy earlier in the week/possibly last week?

Debadged grille spoiler in Bordeaux pearl - suitable for all years/models After being messed about on ebay by some muppet who can't read i'm offering this spoiler for sale here. Its in reasonable condition - some paint wear to the corners and 1 fixing tab has snapped at the back. 10 List Date: 5/28/2014 Location: Bury, United Kingdom For more info, click here to view the original listing: Debadged grille spoiler in Bordeaux pearl - suitable for all years/models -------------------------------------- This item is no longer available. -------------------------------------- Mobile friendly version: Debadged grille spoiler in Bordeaux pearl - suitable for all years/models Go Mobile: Download the free Panjo iOS app now!

For me condition is'nt that important - i would be spraying it black to match my VW badge anyway. oh well back to ebay for now.
-
It looks pretty good that although i think i will hang on for a proper Corrado badge before i go robbing the one off my Golf. Can't believe even the Golf badges fetch so much. Thanks for the answers.

Does the front grille badge off a Golf VR6 also fit the Corrado (late) grille? Cheers Tom

some excellent histories there. some very nice cars and interesting stories to go with them! :)

Been getting a bit sentimental after having a photobucket clearout, so thought i would share my car history with you, feel free to post yours up to! where it all started - 1985 Polo Coupe s(not my car, sadly there all on print- not my image) this was my mum and dads car when i was growing up so its where the vw bug bit i guess. next up mum and dad bought me a 1996 polo hatchback(again not my image but here for completeness) as my first car, i took it for granted really and did'nt treat like i should have done. it got wrote off in the end. a boulder in scotland killed it(who left that there?) Next was my first 'proper' Vw, a mk1 golf 1.1, i loved this car, it was cheap old smelly and broke down(at first) alot but i loved it. it was 100% mine. i later sold it and think it went on to feature in pvw? next was my first 'grown up car', a audi a4. whats to say? good car did what it said on the tin, except for bloody folding down rear seats...trips to ikea where never the same. I then managed to persaude the missus to let me buy a second car, another golf. so i bought this little beauty for £500 next up came my first real project, a 1981 GTI, it never really got off the ground as a project because i was in between training and work(stupid time to start a project but there you go...) ended up sadly selling in bits. still i could sit in it and make engine noises. We then got rid of the GTI and ditched the audi and bought...(fanfare)...a corrado! this where my Corrado love affair begins. a 1991 1.8 16v in diamond silver, we nicknamed her Betty. Betty's engine packed up and we did'nt have time or funds to patch her up so i sold her as a rolling project and bought sid, a 1992 2.0 16v, next i bought a golf vr6 because i'd always fancied a big '6' haha then came pearl, my present Corrado. i think she may be a keeper. and lastly, my daily driver feel free to tell me i'm a boring sod for sharing. all good motors with some really good memories attached. New show on Ch4, "For the Love of Cars"
holeinmk1 replied to Roger Chatfield's topic in General Car Chat
It did feel a bit to family friendly for me, not enough restoration action! and philip glenister was far to easily swayed for my liking. the white rally rep they wanted to build sounded far more fun to me! that said it was certainly entertaining and any tv involving cars is ok by me -
I to would be very interested.

Spotted this morning joining the motorway heading northbound from Ramsbottom. I was in my friends blue lexus is200 and what should appear but a black Corrado vr6 (N reg - ending DBP) to cheer me up! very happy as its been a long time since i last saw a C(apart from my own) Tom:cheers:

Watch those prices rise - its says so here!
holeinmk1 replied to Bullfinch's topic in General Car Chat
i was flattered it got mentioned alongside the karmann ghia ha ha. its true though i have noticed 'older' classics have started to drop in price(got seriously tempted by a 1955 austin a30 the other day for less than a grand, and no it was'nt a full blown resto). Won't be selling mine anytime soon though. Tom -
help! Corrado 24v not starting! possible crank sensor issue?
holeinmk1 replied to holeinmk1's topic in Engine Bay
I'll have a look later on. Thanks guys. -
Hi, i took the Corrado out the other day for a run. Literally got about a mile or so from home about to pull out of a junction when the engine died? would'nt restart and some builders in the van behind helped me push it out of the way. Tried to restart and i thought maybe the fuel gauge was lying to me(the initial symptoms did seam to suggest this) however 5 litres of petrol made no difference and she still would'nt fire up. i ended up calling the rac to recover the car home where it know sitting in the garage. it does seem occasionally to fire up and idle for a bout 5 seconds then die and sometimes it just won't fire up at all. the engine always tunrs over and there is definelty fuel. It has been suggested that it could either the cam or crank sensor? Any ideas? Tom
