  1. thats one well cared for corrado. you should be rightfully very proud of it. one day i hope mine will be this well maintained.
  2. Well thought i had better start a new thread for this one. I thought i was getting this; and in fact i got this; The car sadly had a distinct whiff of neglect about it (or was that mouldy carpet i could smell?) which left me feeling a bit underwhelmed, it was hardly love at first sight, nonetheless being the good little ebayer that i am i handed over my hard earned dough for this unloved Corrado. Mechanically the car feels bang on, starts on the button, stops well and goes like stink. First gear is a bit tricky from time to time but i can forgive that as i can the slow oil leak from the sump. However the lack of spoiler action has really wound me up especially as i was told it was working, but i think that meant button only as it does'nt work at speed.(not going to affect the operation of the car i know but its one of the best bits about Corrado ownership!). There was also the incredible collapsing centre console which is more akin to Buckaroo than the usual well built vw-ness i am used to. the centre console then decided that it no longer wanted to hold the heater facia or fag lighter half way along the m6 when we attempted to put the heater on to warm up a bit. The ashtray then revealed its hoard of assorted nuts bolts and screws, which was promptly joined by the rear ashtray chapter and glove box chapter of the nuts bolts and screws club joining in. needless to say i spent some of today trying to find where most of said nuts bolts and screws have come from. I can only assume that the heater matrix was replaced at some point and the dash was hastly put back. however i would'nt know that as half my service history is for a now defunct honda crx:scratch: There was also the case of the faulty speedo clocks. temp and fuel appear to be working thats it though. Anyway, this is my Project now so its time to put my stamp on it and make it mine. first things first; the bloody awful debadged grille/eyebrow spolier combo. Before; After; Ah, thats much much better :thumbleft: next job was to attempt to get some sort of structural integrity back into that centre console. amazing what you can do with some washers and cable ties. Before; After;(ok so not a massive improvement but its not going to fall all over the place now) next job was to clean the filthy interior. I do not think in 9 years of driving i have ever bought a car with out mats, there a first time for everything though and you only live once, but whoever thought cream carpets + no mats = good idea, was wrong. eurgh; much better;(note magic tree(forest fresh) to get rid of smell of neglect) Lastly(my favourite bit) was a bloody good wash, polish and wax. i could tell when we got caught in the rain on the way home that the car had not been polished for some time and the paintwork had gone porous. This thread is'nt intended as a dig to the previous owner/s, just expected it to be clean and not have so many little issues that were'nt mentioned. apart from the speedo which i was told last minute about. Now the car is clean i feel i can actually enjoy it. Watch this space as i have plans for this one and as mentioned will be putting my stamp on it. in the meantime i'm going to enjoy a spot of 24v v6 goodness. Tom
  3. I personally prefer 17's on corrados, think they fill the arches well aesthetically. comfort wise I think the difference is neglible although my corrado is presently on 16's and I don't like them lol. 17's all the way.
  4. Tonight is the last night. she bought me an amazing corrado I collect it at the weekend :) one more vote to help her is all I ask thank you so much. when I showed her this thread she was really really happy and grateful (and a little big headed) http://www.weddingindustryexperts.com/votes/xgjJlPuzI.html thanks again for your help cant wait to drive my new Rado home on sat!!
  5. I don't remember dodgems being so big. wouldn't wanna take a speed bump heavy route.
  6. that's a shame as I like borbets but as you say they are 4 x 100. I had a slightly staggered look going and iirc I had 205/45's on the front and 215/45's on the rear. these wheels do fit really well without adaptors etc(assuming your not scraping your sills) lol. Tom
  7. Hi I am selling my old BBS RX as they are 4 x 100 fitment and my golf is 5 x 100 as will my new corrado be! looking ideally to swap for the same/similar wheels as I really like the design but will sell. quite a rare size as far as I can gather, very common in 16'' format but hard to find in 17''. really nice looking wheel as the pics show. all 4 would benefit from a cosmetic refurb . 1 of the rims has been repaired to a good standard(have reciept to prove) and there are no tyres on them at present. also 1 centre cap missing. Provisionally sold! Tom.
  8. Excellent, good stuff! and it sounds like your recaro's didn't suffer from the sickness. which is always good lol.
  9. Looking forward to picking it up next weekend, be in touch later in the week. : ) Tom
  10. Well CYD has gone, sold today to a young lad from South Yorkshire. T'was rather sad seeing her being driven away. Its gone to a good home though and my sadness didn't last as i'm picking this up next weekend (sorry for the small pic)
  11. http://www.weddingindustryexperts.com/votes/xgjJlPuzI.html here you go cheers. Tom
  12. As it says, my amazing wife is buying me a corrado VR6, I already have a golf VR6 and a Corrado 16v (selling) and have always wanted a VR6 rado, and she is kindly buying me one with the profits she gets from her business, because she loves her cars as much as me all I ask is can you pop a vote on this link for her its the only thing I can think of to thank her is to help her win an award. If you don't want to its fine its just a button to push no registration required and it would mean the world to her. thanks in advance Tom http://www.weddingindustryexperts.com/votes/xgjJlPuzI.html
  13. heres a pic ; http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u198/holeinmk1/photo25.jpg and heres how they looked on my corrado http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u198/holeinmk1/photo19.jpg Tom
  14. Hi have some wheels I would like gone, off my corrado 16v. five spoke design not sure of make. 2 good tyres, 1 borderline and 1 needing replacing(rock in the middle of the motorway! rim is fine but tyres shot). ok for a winter set/refurb/ moving a project about etc. far from perfect but they go round and balance up! £30 or swap for something interesting? after a couple of corrado brochures? pics available. 15. it went to good home, the guy who bought sounded like he knew what he was doing lol. 20v turbo conversion as I remember. I want one fairly standard to be honest, if i'm going to modify I want to be the one to do it. really want a green storm, just need to find a good one. I do, and always will like the sound of a g60, however maybe its something that I will come back to one day. for the time being want a vr. took mine for a quick blast out today and thought how awesome would this be with a vr? lol
  16. Ben, its long gone. sold it about 2 years ago after the engine died. it was fun while it lasted. tom. ---------- Post added at 11:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:58 AM ---------- yeah i'm kind of settled on a vr now. would take a very standard low mileage or very special g60 to change my mind now. I want something which is still gonna have me smiling in a couple of years and when I give the golf the boot it does just that, it can only be better in a corrado surely? plus I want something that is a bit grown up but still fun to drive. just waiting for the right one to come along now.
  17. some interesting opinions again, and some very well researched ones to! I have a lot to think about now, I want something that can be enjoyed and as much as I do enjoy fixing cars myself, I don't want something that requires being spannered every weekend. so engine will be limited to filter and exhaust. plus I have to take into account what my wife wants, she's paying half(and wants a vr6)! ha ha.
  18. I always let my engines warm up, if the opportunity comes along to test drive a g60 then i'll take it(the test drive, not necessarily the car ha ha). i guess its just waiting to see what comes up for sale over the next couple of months(and hoping mine sells ha ha ). standard is good, but i will probably modify, nothing serious just the usual suspects, exhaust, suspension, brakes, intake etc. cheers.
  19. the vr6 proves its worthiness as a reliable engine everyday, mine(i'm ashamed to say) is well overdue a service, starts first time everytime and has chased down a r32 and a corsa vxr in the last 2 days lol(I was happier about the r32 ) so in terms of big cheesy grin out of the box vr6 wins. but theres always going to be that niggle. I think ill just have to test both at some point. I wouldn't go down the 20vt route, personally not a big fan and find old school engines far more entertaining(and better sounding). In short I guess it still comes down to the right car, a perfect g60 might crop up at a decent price round the corner, equally you've all kind of scared me off getting one now lol(don't fancy £500 charger rebuilds every so often ). other considerations for me are I want a leather interior, this is rare on a g60, but fairly common with the vr. anyway thanks for advice chaps and chapesses. im gonna get me some corrado huntin' :)
  20. well there both pretty awesome sounding. what I meant by leftfield was remaining numbers, theres a lot of vr's left and not a lot of g60's. I won't lie, I am slightly leaning towards the g60, but there is that niggle that what would a vr corrado be like? plus everyone used to ask when I was out and about in the corrado 'is it a vr6?' which does make you want one more. guess its just waiting for the 'right' car, which ever one that may be.
  21. Do you like ~200bhp or do you prefer spending money trying to get there only to find it's blown up two weeks later. I know the vr's are good engines, but surely the g60 is too? it is basically an 8v which lasts forever anyway. the vr can't have been that bad handling or it would have got panned for it back in the day?
  22. Hi, I have decided to sell my 16v corrado in favour of a 'big' corrado. I can't decide which would be better for me, vr6 or g60. I have a mk3 vr6 as my daily and I have to admit I love the vr, but its no corrado lol. everyone goes on about the vr corrado being the better one and on paper its easy to see why. The g60 just seems that bit more leftfield, an irregular choice, plus I do like the sound of a charger and it was the original big corrado and there pretty rare birds these days. but then again the vr sounds awesome at full chat. I know theres more to it than what I've put above. both have appeal in there own ways, and before anyone mentions fuel economy, it really isn't an issue as it will a dry weather/weekend toy only! :) any input would be good. thanks.
