  1. Not sure what you mean mate? You can change the resolution to suit. Ive had it linked to my laptop playing DVDs that look great in widescreen!
  2. Bought this to attempt at building a carputer but just never got round to it and could do with the dosh to be honest! Touch screen works a treat and is compatible with XP, Windows Vista and 7. Only 1 day left http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120730646534&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  3. Possibly a coincidence! Does seem to run a lot better though but perhaps it just feels smoother because its a lot less rattley now. Totally agree with what you're saying, my VR seems to absolutely love the stuff
  4. Quite rattley and just generally ran poor. Recommended oil fair enough, but plenty of people on here have sworn by 10w50 and thats why i used it. Theres been a few threads on here talking about it. Absolutely top notch so far.
  5. Ordered myself some of this from Opie oils (25% off this weekend) got 6 litres for £60 so bit pricey but after just changing the oil and filter I'm absolutely stunned at how good this is. My VR runs so smooth now and the engine and chains have quietened right down. They were quite rattley before and were only changed about 6 month ago but now they're more or less silent. It ran like a bag of bollocks before but totally different to how it was only an hour ago I'd recommend this to everyone. I know this sounds like I work for Opie oils or silkolene but i don't, honest.
  6. Hi mate im after a rear boot plinth? (the plastic bit behind rear number plate) If you've still got it how much inc postage? Cheers
  7. Hi matey, have you got the rear boot plinth (plastic bit behind rear number plate) I'll have it off you if its not cracked etc Cheers
  8. Yeah mate definitely the chains, id know if it was big end bearings ive had that before. Plus you can hear them from inside the casing. Chances are they've just put basic oil back in when they've done the chains and thats probably causing the issue. I'd obviously change the oil filter too but just need to know the best oil to use ---------- Post added at 07:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:03 PM ---------- If its on the left hand side of the block as you look at it then i'd suggest it was tappets too. I used to have a 1.8T A4 which had the same issue and it was coming from that side, sounds very similar to chains but slighty less rattley ---------- Post added at 07:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:04 PM ---------- Thinking of trying out a silkolene 10w50. Heard its nice on the engine and reduces the noise Any advance on this?
  9. I've had my chains done less than 1,000 miles ago with new tensioner pads, rails, bolt etc etc but the chains are still noisy. Its nice on tick over and only really rattles at 2,000 revs or so. I've had it over lilfuzzers place and he reckons an oil change is in order which seems about right. But whats the best oil to use to try and shut them the hell up. I was thinking a semi-synthetic maybe as a fully synthetic oil would be a bit too thick to get around all the chains well to quieten them down.. Any help is appreciated and if you can give me brand names of decent oils that'd be good.
  10. Ive got one mate £20 posted?
  11. Ive got a digital 2.0 16v one? Not sure if they're the same as the 1.8 though? Mileage is about 150k I believe £20 posted
  12. Got a power steering pump for you mate excellent condition no leaks or anything £30 posted?
  13. Not too sure mate but I've got a 16v power steering pump if you're interested £30 delivered ;)
  14. Doesn't appear to be a tappet sound it's deffo the chains I know they're meant to make a bit noise so perhaps I'll just see how it goes They're a VW specialist so I assume they'd have known to re prime the bolt but I'm taking it back to them to sort a drop link so maybe I'll get them to have a look at it
  15. Right, just had my chains done and on the way home from the garage I notices that there is still a bit of rattle there It's loads and loads better than before but was just wondering if they'll get any quieter as I use them more? Does it take a bit for the oil to fully circulate around everything Cheers!
  16. Mines in the middle of Gettin them done now. Full set of chains and tensioners bought for £98 from euro car parts and a crank shaft oil seal from VW Costing me £400 for the work from a VW specialist
  17. Personally I'd go for the VR conversion. Loads more power and you can get an engine and gearbox for about £300-£350. I saw one on eBay the other week it may still be there I believe Chris on here done a 16v to VR conversion so you should message him for advice and what else is needed for the conversion etc £1300 for a rebuild is ridiculous in my opinion
  18. Nah wasn't takin the piss lol any info is good really. Plus I'm due an oil change too so might look into it Could probably get it a bit cheaper than in halfrauds too
  19. Cheers for that mate! Might give it a whirl How much did it cost you?
  20. Thanks for lettin me know. Think the proper ones from VW are fairly cheap anyway so I'll deffo get one from there
  21. Ah right thanks guys. Those flanges on the matrix is what's left sticking out the engine bay so the matrix mustve just given up Looks like dash out then and new matrix
  22. Sorry Shouldve explained better. I mean it's never had a heater matrix since I've owned it. In the engine bay the pipe flanges are just bare and there's no hoses attached at all So would that suggest the matrix has been removed then? If so I can't understand why they wouldnt have just put a new one in
  23. Right since owning my VR it's never had a heater matrix for some reason. In the engine bay where the hoses were using leading to the engine and coolant piping etc theres just the 2 flanges left sticking out. My question is why has the matrix been totally removed and not just replaced?? I intend on ripping the dash out and replacing the heater matrix with a new one since its freezing now. I wonder if the old heater matrix is still in there and they've just bypassed all the hoses etc to stop the car overheating etc rather than having to remove the dash etc. Both Corrado's i've owned it seems im always fixing the things people haven't done properly or haven't done at all :confused4: :confused4:
  24. Ah thanks for that mate- looks like a set of irwins are only £20 so i suppose i may aswell buy them anyway and give it a shot Cheers
