  1. Funny, I was thinking about this the other day. I made a couple of different versions. The second one I need to test fit but I think it's closer to being a suitable fix. I've got it set out on my work bench and I need to try and get a chance to get back on it again. It's a fiddly bugger to get just right.
  2. Well..... isn't this dragging on a bit? I got distracted with loads of other cars and crap getting in the way. I have one of the door cards almost grafted together. It wasn't easy but I'll get some pics of it to post. I also found some sport foils for the clocks which matched up with the icons on the very rare circuit board. Again, I'll get some pics of this. Next up, I need to clean out the engine bay and get the lighting wiring connected up inside the car. Back on the wagon!!!
  3. Got mine. Thanks. By the way, my 2.0L 16v had a 70L tank so make sure you check first.
  4. I've never been impressed with a painted finish. It never looks as even and doesn't last like a recovered headliner.
  5. Made another fibreglass plate for the other drivers door car parts. So now I have one for both sides. This is going to take some head scratching to work out how they'll be attached and how the door card shape should be formed for clearance.
  6. Biggest cams available that can get squeezed in without head machining. The map will have to be written to try and keep it stable at idle but it'll not be the sort of car that'll get driven in traffic much.
  7. That's good to know. I'm going a step further. Piper 294 cams, GSXR 750 SRAD throttle bodies, Wossner high compression pistons, SAAB 93 turbo bosch red top injectors, ported head, 1.8T fuel rail and FPR, 0.5mm overbore, ARP studs all round. Should be interesting if I ever get the time to get in finished.
  8. If anyone is having a problem with glue order some of the AF178 from woollies. It's the only stuff I use now and I tried a lot of glues and it's the only one that holds the fabric properly.
  9. I recovered my own in black felt. Very easy to use and it's stuck on with Alpha 178 heat resistant glue from woollies trim restoration.
  10. How many people here are running with bucket or race seats, 3, 4, or 5 point harnesses, roll cages etc? I'd like to see a few examples of how some of your seat harnesses are mounted or what kind you have etc. I just got myself a set of Schroth ASM seat harnesses and would like to get ideas on how they should be mounted. I'm seriously considering a rear seat delete and false floor in the back and would like to get some ideas or suggestions from people who have done it already.
  11. Does anyone know the answer to my query above? Just want to make sure I get the right ones.
  12. So here's the new harnesses. I got them at a pretty nice price. They came with inertia reels and extender straps as well so they can be attached nicely at the back. Sorry for the crap pic. I'll maybe get them unpacked later.
  13. I checked my clocks last night and they say 15 gal. I assume this is in imperial gallons so the tank would be 70 litre. Is this correct? It's a 1994 2.0L 16v so a lot of the parts are the later type. I just wanted to make sure before I send payment through.
  14. Couple more pics here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=66329 It's still in progress but I'm looking forward to getting back to it.
  15. Good work. I thought I might as well post this as well as it's in some way related. I went the opposite way and fitted the MK4 one to the MK4 center console. Bit more work involved though because of the dash conversion. lol As far as the clearance to the bracket goes with the cable ends (mk4 cables seem to be closer to the lever). Check out my solution with the tubes. I used the Corrado bar but that's because mine was offset away to the left.
  16. I'm breaking a MK4 anniversary golf and thought it might be worthwhile posting up here about the engine as it's a good conversion for a corrado or MK2 or 3 platform. It's only going to stay for sale for a couple of weeks and then I'll probably separate it out for parts. 1.8T AUQ 180bhp Engine with Samco hoses (worth £250+), loom, ECU, and all extras for a MK2 golf conversion ready to be bolted onto a 5 speed box and flywheel/clutch - £650 I've been told it's been remapped as well but haven't confirmed. 107K on the engine K03s turbo Full Samco pipes including TIP hose. Can be heard running as engine bay is still complete. ECU can be deimmobilised at buyers request. Full service history with the engine. Very well looked after. Located in Northern Ireland. The engine can be crated and posted no problem.
  17. Is it too late for me to jump in on this to get a set for my 2.0L 16v?
  18. Bloody hell, it's like waking up after being in a coma. Everything is bright and shiny. FEBRUARY..... what the hell happened since then, where have I been? OK Quick update after I get my bearings. Moved house (it's ok, i'm now in the house where my garage is.) Rebuilt a garage floor that must be getting on for 50 - 60 years old. It's now solid as a rock. Still trying to tidy up the garage after the rebuild. Bought a bargain low miler MK2 Golf GTI (too good to pass up). Need to get it running and moved. Been battling with the Fabia to try and keep the damn thing up to standard, new MOT last week.... yay. Been on olidays to Wales and Chesire for C4R FEST.... brilliant. Been pottering about with about 2 dozen different small projects here and there including making shelving for the garage after it's clean up. Bought and broke a MK4 anniversary golf - nearly all gone. Anyone need a 180bhp (+ remap) 1.8T golf engine for a conversion? Got the GFs Polo remapped and fitted a flip key with oem remote locking. Got new seats for it from a TT but she doesn't know that yet. Getting brackets made later. And now.... well, back to work isn't it. Here we go again. Update for the car itself. Got myself some Schroth ASM harnesses. I'll post pics of them maybe later if I get a chance. Looks like i'll be going for the rear seat delete. Everything is powdercoated for under the front end. I need to go and get some new bolts for it all and start getting it cleaned up ready for fitting. Wiring - the never ending story. I'll need to really get my head down and get that finished. So don't let me run off again, it's time I kept this project moving.

  20. Yip, sitting here with a lump of aluminium in front of me and just about to head over to the garage to cut a couple of bits off it. I'll try and update as best I can. I'm going to make it by hand first and then when I'm happy with it i'll hand it over and see if it can be machined more accurately.
  21. The vb and va turbo outlet pipes are identical by the way. Same engine part for part in the 130 and 150. Only difference is the head bolts. If you need any more info on tdis let me know. Lets try and keep this to pms though so the threaad stays on track.
  22. For your donor you can use any one really, even some of the earlier ones. Just check out what wiring it has before you start. PD engines are from 2000 up. 00/01 is pd115 and from then on is pd100, 130, 150. Far tidier engine than a 90. The braiding is extremely time consuming. But it's hard as nails. Takes some effort even to cut it with my wire cutters.
  23. You'll actually find the MK2 a bigger task mechanically. To put it simply, the MK4 dash doesn't fit in a mk2. By that I mean that the car is actually narrower and shorter at the front end of the cabin so you'll need to butcher a bit off the front and off the sides of the dash to get it to fit. The other alternative is to cut down the middle somewhere and remove a couple of inches and piece it back together. It has been done before a couple of times on mk2s and there are build threads on it but it does take a fair bit of work. I know it might be a bit of a long shot but your best bet would probably be to take a MK1 golf citi from south africa as a donor car as it uses the polo/fabia 1 style dash which might fit easier. As you're using a mk4 engine the wiring will be a lot easier as you only really need to wire up the wipers and lighting looms. Remember if you're fitting the climatronic that the fan controller from a mk4 will be needed and the version of the climatronic will depends on the age of the car. Hope this thread helps you when the time comes.
  24. Where is the controller for the security system? Do you still have the wiring diagram? Obviously one of the wires from it will be going to the lock where it pops it. All you need to do is find which wire that is and zap it with a few volts and you should be good.
  25. Flat piece of steel is with the engineer now to get two 45 degree bends put in it. Next up is the test fit of that again and we've worked a solution to the bottom shaft to make it modular in case I ever need to remove it. I also have more or less sussed out the wiper loom swap. I'll post that up after I double check the wiring in the 2 relays.
