There seems to be a little confusion with the offset debate. The offset or et is the distance in mm from the mounting face of the wheel to the centreline of the wheel (width in profile). The higher the figure the further inboard the wheel sits. The lower the figure the further out the wheel sits. This only applies to one piece wheels really as on split rims you can alter the offset by bolting new rims on. The above reason is why the US market used to use 'back spacing' as a fitment guide. This is the distance between the mounting face of the wheel to the inner lip of the wheel (usually measured in inches). So, basically, the higher the offset the more likely to touch suspension, inner arches etc. The lower the et the more likely they will catch on the outer arch. Hope this is of some use to some people.

check the arches tho!

I use Zimmerman discs on all my motors mainly because I work at GSF! Never had any fail or had any back! Zimmerman are OE to Mercedes Benz and are TUV approved so they should be good. As with all mods they have pros and cons - basically - fast road pads and x drilled need to be hotter to work better - if you dont thrash the nuts off your car then you will never feel the benefit but they look pretty lurking behind your wheel!!

Which would be best 10/40 or 15/40 oil for 16v on 126k miles
doublezero replied to purple-rado's topic in Suppliers Forum
Ive got the same miles on an untouched 16v and I use Synta (silver) in mine! The fully synthetic synta gold is a little thin for mine as it tends to leak a little when its in. I also change it twice as often (6000 miles) with it being cheaper. Never uses a drop now :D -

A pal of mine (who buys and sells vw) says the yellow rados hes had have stopped on the forcourt the least time than any others - and he sold one to a guy who was just walking past and saw the colour! I love my banana but if youd have said i was going to buy a yellow car before hand i would have probably laughed at you. It would take more than the colour to make me hate a corrado anyway!!! 8)

personal opinion.... too bling

Robs got a point with the 2l 16v but buy a good one with fsh etc and anyone of them will last you well if looked after - i love my 1.8 16v because its a good one even after 130000 miles. Look at the car as a whole rather than just an engine. Check the electrics - especially sunroof (make sure it slides all the way back without making noises) and the rear spoiler (goes up and down freely using the switch as well the speed sensors). Check all the seams especially the rear panel and make sure the vw options sticker is still stuck to the paint work in the boot (check it matches with the sticker in the front of the service book). Remember - everything that is unique to the corrado is going to be fairly pricey - so haggle hard if there is anything wrong with it! The corrado is the first car out of 28 ive owned that i have kept over 12 months and ive had it two and a half years now!!!!!!!!!!!! says something! 8)

Hi I work for GSF and the grille spoiler is a direct copy of th kamei item as far as i know
-
nice one - same effect as the late scirroco lights

The blue wire is for speed sensitive volume control for factory head units that runs from the speedo - if it was this causing the prob your speedo probably wouldnt work either. check the wiring from the shell to tailgate - they often rub through and cause non working spoiler - use a multi metre or check light to see if there is power to the motors

I upgraded from a Porsche 968 clubsport - more fun more respect!

Use Qantum synta gold if the engine doesnt burn oil currently and is in all round good condition - if its getting on a bit drop to semi synthetic Its made by castrol for vw and is 21.75 plus vat for gold and 10.75 for silver both plus vat from german and swedish
