    and convert it to LHD!
  2. If its the same engine as the Mazda Xedos 9 i would think its more likely to be piston rings than head gasket, in my experience people use cheap oil and it wears down the piston rings, buy with caution, headgasket would normally cause the water to pressurise
  3. Smart Car if your things can fit into it! or viewtopic.php?f=12&t=92980
  4. I dont know what to say as i have experience in the garage trade i'll try to offer a balanced view. 1: Laquer peel this is just one of them things you have to grit your teeth and bare they are not going to admit it, and considering the hassle its not worth pursuing unless you have evidence the paintwork was ok. 2: PAS pump i think this is a total bodge and this should be taken off, you can make things fit but it doesnt mean its the right one, he obviously had one sitting around and wanted to sell it hence he put it on your car. How many VW are there that would use the same pas pump if he rang around even GSF Eurocrapparts he might have found one. It could be they've used a lever bar to get the pas pump in position and rested it against the sump, but i would think the sump is abit stronger to get dented by a lever bar. 3: The timing belt kit would normally come in a kit with tensioner/s you should be able to see fresh tipex marks on the crank pulley and camshafts the condition of the belt should also be new take some clear photos of the timing belt and keep as evidence. Ask to see their invoice from the supplier for the parts and the box for the timing belt kit, with a car that sort of age they should've recommended changing water pump too. 4: You should've wrote paid under protest on the invoice and finally why didnt you use your borther in law in the first place?
  5. For the pulling to the left i'd recommend 4 wheel alignment, when the car is lowered the suspension leg has to come off, the toe and camber are all over the place, IIRC the tracking only does side to side movement and they only adjust the track rod end.
  6. I'd probably be inclined to say its similar to the 1.8 8v engine but you need someone with EKTA to check the part numbers, have you tried German Swedish or Euro Car Parts? Theres also Big Boys Toys C&R and other VW places to try i managed to get hold of one last year for a g60 so i dont think there was any problems of short supply.

    1990 G60 Help

If they have an ignition amplifier check that, its a small part near bulkhead i've seen a similar problem on a mk4 gti.
  8. yeah i was expecting Mclaren to do better but lets see.
  9. Calm down dear, its just a commercial :|
  10. Welcome to the forum, depends what you classify as fix it up, if possible try to go for the spec you would want i.e engine colour etc. Its worth waiting for something you want rather than spend money on something you dont really want.
  11. Well i the one i drove was a Y reg back in 2005 about 4 years old, im not saying the handling was bad infact it was very good, but it did seem to have massive amounts of torque steer even on motorway speeds in 5th gear when you put the foot down.
  12. I've driven a 182 had it for a few days, the build quality aint bad its better than Peugeot/Citroen but nowhere near as good as german rivals. It was a fun drive however there was two much power than the chasis could handle so uprated bushes and mounts would be a good idea. These cars run hot and the engine just about fits in the engine so all the components on the engine deteriorate with the high tempratures Hoses, rubbers, Coilpacks etc.
  13. This is a how long is a piece of string question, The Corrado is becoming even more extinct so where mint examples can command a high price and the lower end would fetch sub £2000. I'd expect an average 16v on a g plate to fetch between £1000-£1500 if its in good condition but yours would be worth more as its had the g60 turbo conversion. I think at the moment people are hanging on to their cars or buying newer fuel efficient cars so prices would go down unless some is specifically looking for a g60 turbo then they would be prepared to pay more than market price. All other factors Mileage, colour, condition, owners etc can influence price too.
  14. The catalunya race was good not as exciting as Shanghai, but i feel gutted for Lewis Hamilton having a blow out on the 65th lap. I was hoping for a batttle between Hamilton & Webber, damn those red bulls are fast!
  15. I know what you mean, similar thing happened to me now the roof and bonnet (where it had been resprayed) have glazed up and would require respray to sort out. I've been told when they do a respray the new primer can react with the original primer or zinc coating. How you doing Furkz?
  16. Was thinking the same thing! Tell him your name is Gordon Brown 10 Downing St London xxx xxx Bank Details. Bank of England Threadneedle St London EC2R and say the payment must arrive before 6th may as you may be away after that

    Alfa GTV's

My friend had a GTV 2.0 and another had a 3.0 V6.they both were pretty good, not as many electric faults as they expected although on 2.0 ecu broke down. They are not that well built so trim starts to rattle and break. Space in the rear is only adequte for children. The 3.0 used to go through tyres quite quickly i dont know whether thats down to the geometry or the way he drove. One thing is for sure, you'll miss the vr6!
  20. Hi Do you know which circuits were used for the immobiliser when the alarm was put in? It seems a coincedence that the alarm was put in and the is now not starting, im not saying that the alarm people messed it up but maybe when they took the dash panels out or whatever they did they could have disturbed something which may have created a fault later. Have you checked all relays fuses etc?
  21. I can understand where your coming from but for me its other commitments which are taking up my time and not giving me the time or motivation to do anything to mine, but when i see other Corrados i cant help that feeling...."Yeah thats a damn fine looking car" and when i do get time to drive it it does still manage to put a smile on my face.
  22. Unlikely (but not impossible) to be battery if it was fitted new at christmas and driven since. Check earth connection by using a jump start cable one end to battery negative and the other end to good earth point, inlet manifold gearbox casing etc.
  23. Hi, nice work on the car, i may be able to help you out with the dash. I'll make some enquiries and update you.
  24. Hi, Does anyone know if Dav (pureklass) is still trading? I had a number for him but it doesn't work and also the websites off now aswell.
