  2. Hi It depends on what your definition is for bits and pieces. The shell is the same on g60 & vr6 you wont need to modify this in any way. the subframe which the engine sits on is different & amybe the engine and gearbox mounting too. The hubs and driveshafts are different and other things like ECU wiring coil wiring etc. I think the subframe is bolted on so no welding required. If the fire burnt through any of the fuse box or other wiring then you will have to change this too. Its probably cheaper to buy a 16v for this conversion or another vr6 would be easier. hope this helps
  3. Thats furkzs car i believe, he knows how to keep his cars top notch. i've driven both Audi and BMW coonvertibles and i have to say the BMW much better to drive especially a 325i manual, compared to the Audi 2.6.
  4. Love the colour its gorgeous, but not sure about the black bonnet though.
  5. Hi sorry to hear bout the accident, stupid probably too busy putting her make up on. :bad-words: As far as insurance goes you can go through a non fault claims company ( she can either admit liability or the NFC will see it as her liability and get the claim going). Her insurance company will send out an assessor to value your car and see whether its repairable or a write off. If you need a car asap you should contact the Non fault claims company and they'll send you one out fairly quickly.
  6. Nice shots, the bodyworks gleaming :) Is that neons under the car or did Micheal Jackson walk over the pavement?
  7. As far as i know i might be incorrect the TDI badge at back should have DI in red or some say GT TDI and engine number/code and KW power this should 110 (110kw) would tell you that can be found on the white sticker inside boot.
  8. I got a classic Impreza WRX (saloon) too but the only thing i like about it over the Corrado is that its more practical to get in and just drive whereas with the corrado youre quite low down have to slow down for humps etc. They are two very completely different machines but both good at what they do.
  9. Have you checked for earth or corrosion? if you have a test light/probe connect it to an earth point and make sure your getting an earth/positive current to the bulb, the positive is the centre tab that sit underneath the bulb the earth is the tab on the side.
  10. I know what you mean, the sharp handling of the Corrado is good when u need it but i do prefer a comfortable non bumpy drive now, must be getting old!
  11. I used to like these cars untill i drove a friends one (with a Koni suspension kit), they feel like a boat compared to the Corrado! They are marginally more spacious and these last models in the dark purple colour looked fantastic . Try and drive one that has been lowered or has a different suspension before you sort the handling out as being used to a corrado it may dissapoint you.
  12. Im about a year late to read this thread, but i cant believe people haven't noticed something about the A5 the rear side window has a similar shape to the corrado...id chop the boot off and pretend it the new corrado! I think the car is stunning the more you see it from different angles the more it looks better

I apologize about the delay in communication, i did email everyone that i thought didnt recieve the looms when i returned to the forum lat year. I had emailed swfblade asking for his full name so i can recall the transaction. I dont whether it was a case that the email didnt go through as i sent it using my phone.
  16. "its had a complete engine rebuild with almost everything engine related replaced." Was the inlet manifold taken off the head? if so were new gaskets fitted? "i cant see a gasket not sealing...ive never had an issue with one before this car, however will do a compression test to rule this out, the blye temp sender and the black one have been replaced with VW ones after the gsf ones didnt let the car start, isv seems to tick, will see if i can borrow one to rule this out aswel...would this affect cold start really??" I agree but dont think its the head gasket the starting problem sounds more like the inlet manifold gasket sucking in too much air. Were all the vacuum hoses put back on correctly? You could rule out the leak by applying water mix with fairly liquid around the joint of the inlet manifold against the head Regards
  17. In my experience depending on the height of the car, the rears do tend to rub. I've run 215 tyres on the rear with 9inch borbets and needed to get arch work done (folding the arch lips). I have heard of people stretching 205 over the 9 inch wheel but i wouldnt do it personally. IIRC if you have the standard springs and shock set up on the rear the wheels may not go on or may rub so i put coilovers before using this the wheels. Its alot of headache but the results do look good. Hope this helps
  18. HI Guys just an Update on this thread. There are a couple of tips i'd like to share with you guys as winters approaching and we'll get more rain. The level of water will flow from the front to the back if it has been accumulating for some time, e.g water leaking from the front will eventually flow to the rear and vice versa. If your road/driveway has a slope or your car is lower on the front or rear this will also affect where the water accumalates. There are three (main) sources of water ingress on the car. Doors: These will mostly let water in when the car is moving or during heavy downpours and the membrane is not present. The door has small drain holes at the bottom and water usually runs out of these along the kick panel and out by the door opening. Two: Scuttle panel the scuttle lets in water if the seal is not tight or the clips have been broken which fasten the trim to the body. This type of leak would not be be visible under the dash because the water would just run and accumalate on the floor. You can seal the trim with sealant but i think duct tape is better as it'll totally cover the gap. Three Sunroof: The sunroof has a channel on each four corners and which feeds water into a pipe which drains externally. If these pipes become blocked then they can cause water to leak inside, its best to blow them out with compressed air or a small pipe/bendy rod. The channels can themselves become blocked. For example the sunroof is packed with grease to lubricate the sunroof channels but the grease can sometimes accumalate and fall into the water channel (as they are quite shallow) and this will obstruct the water and it will overflow run along the roof lining to the back of the roof and drip down the side all the way to the floor. The best way to trace a suspected leak from the sunroof is to drop the headlining. If you do take of the pipes from the channel use a sealant when reconnecting them Other tips are to use talcum powder around the suspected area of the leak and this can confirm water coming in. Hope this helps
  19. I prefer calamari myself :D
  20. Yeah, agree the non turbo versions are sluggish, but the turbo dispatches were good in their time and there wasnt much that could compete for the same price & engine. The Peugeot Citroen diesel engine was probably the best in the class untill Germans and Japanese caught up. I drove a nissan 2.3 vanette or cargo and i swore never again, it was that slow!
  21. Welcome back mate! So its part two now? Is the ace cafe meet still going on?
  22. Generally Very Good Vans Parts and Aftersales much better with Citroen & Peugeot , Early ones were either XUD or WD4 mechanical injections, no problems with these, but in your budget you could easily get a HDi Version which are abit more refined. Make sure the cambelt & tensioner has been changed at schedule. Toyota Hiace, D4D very good vans but check condition of turbo and smoke coming out the back, these can suffer from oil pump clogging up eventually damaging the turbo, probably the result of poor servicing. Mercedes Vitos are very robust and are good to drive. With any van do the usual checks service history etc, the later common rail diesels can be expensive on parts especially (renault/vauxhalls) and if you run them low on fuel they can sometimes bring debris into the fuel rail which shows up as an injector fault on the diagnosis, therefore requiring the unneccessery cost of replacing injectors. If your planning to do many miles it maybe worth getting out the AA warranty. Hope this helps
