  1. You can get a product from caravan shops that sits in between the coils and stops them compressing

     

     

    Haven't used them myself but remember my old man fitting a set to a talbot horizon back when we had family holidays in the caravan


  2. Most cap head bolts are rated 12.9 grade

    You will struggle to get a 12.9 grade with zinc plating on as the process to add the coating alters the strength rating by a small amount.

     

    Where as 10.9 bolts are available in zinc plated but these are normaly hex heads

    Brake ends are due to be sent direct from the company that used to supply me with BRAKELINES!!

    But as I no longer deal with them they are being slow, they also have a set of braided lines to send back to someone on another forum but are being slow about it, the guy I used to deal with has left, quality has gone down

    At least it accessible so you can remove it and get a new one made

     

    Shouldn't cost alot

    Here we pay £0.70 an end plus £1 per foot of pipe

    That's made up at a local independant spares shop, though its just a straight pipe that you need to carefully bend to shape

    If you don't like what I write then then don't read it, but lets not forget that when you first got the car you blamed two very well known and established members for bodging the brakes on the car before you purchased it, two users who are well respected so I really don't think your comments count for anything, personally I don't think you or your mechanic are all that competent.

     

    As for my comment about 205gti and good ridge, that is purely to point out that one of the biggest most respected names in the business are not perfect, I previously owned a 309 gti so visited the 205 forums at the time.

     

    As for keeping a stock of the fittings it's really not needed, they can be supplied as and when required but I only supplied lines to that spec on very small quantities.

     

    As has being proven and written by several well known and respected forum members there is no issue at all with fitment of the rears


  7. Well I have just removed the banjo end on one of my brakes.

     

    Banjo bolt - 10mm diameter

    Banjo end ID - 12mm

    There you go then, the company that supplied me have fitted the rear type ends on, explains why the orginal bolts are slack.

    An easy enough fix, just undo the end and screw a new smaller fitting in to its place which I can sort out monday


  8. And yes I will defend the products I sell as I know how well made they are, how much time the company that make them spend developing new product lines, they have all the ends made to there own specification.

    They supply all manner of top level Motorsport teams with everything from brake lines, fuel lines, fia fuel sampling rigs and oil cooler lines, not just with in the uk but worldwide.

    They exhibit every year at the autosport international show, so they really are not a dodgy company but one who know what they are doing and make them to exacting standards.

     

    As for not being an enthusast, I have being displaying my cars on various club stands for the last 15 years at all sorts of shows, winning several best in club awards etc

     

    And all those of you looking at fitting good ridge , good luck with that they have being making lines for the 205gti for 25 years and they still don't fit correctly, the fitting in to the bracket on the front line has to be filed out.


  9. I wonderd how long it would be before clumpy piped up.

     

    You took your hose to a local place to you to be looked and discoverd it was merely a miss seated olive in the socket, now these are made in a jig thing (not by me, by a professionally company) this ensures that the braide is split correctly, the olive is then pushed over the ptfe liner and the two parts if the union screwed togeather forming a seal.

    It is VERY rare for this to go wrong in manufacture ( but being heavy handed with it by pulling on the hose once the fitting is in place can easily damage it) and cause a leak, but it is very simple to rectify (as I'm sure the hose specialist told you) would of taken the company under a minute to rectify, certainly doesn't make the hose no good or dangerous once it is sorted.


  10. Swampy - out of interest can you measure the banjo size / hole ID of these hoses and let us know what they are...

     

    I've just done a handlebar replacement / upgrade on a BMW S1000RR bike which involved extending a banjo connection slightly - the one supplied in the kit was for an M10x1 bolt and the ID of the connector was 10.03-10.05 according to my digital calipers (suspect it might be 10.0 dead in reality) and the bolt fit was snug with no play - how it should be!

     

    As Kev says, the only difference is the thread pitch of the bolts with the mk3 / mk4 ATE calipers so should not affect the connector ID

     

    I could if I had a set here or a set of vernier available to me.

     

    Items such as these are made to order.

    I have got a set to fit BREMBO calipers to a citroen c2 here, these also use a 10mm banjo bolt fitting, having measured that the bolt has around 1mm of movement possible, it's by no means tight but also not excessively loose.

    I have supplied lines with this end (for Peugeot fitment BREMBO) for the last six years and not had any issues.

    An m10 banjo and bolt are all made to the same specification, just the pitch and length vary (as I have said many times but everyone ignores)
