my friends old track car.. Your images may only be up to 800 pixels wide..... :censored: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/V ... 009473.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/V ... 009481.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/V ... 009482.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/V ... 009609.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/V ... 009608.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/V ... 009613.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/V ... 008418.jpg laps our local track quicker than single seaters  fun cars and like mk1s mk2s endlessly tuneable

My friends company specialises in them, mainly turboing them but almost any spec engine conversion and he is a huge fan. The 1.6-1.9 debate is a bit like the 8v-16v mk2 golf debate, the 1.6 205 seems revvier and the 1.9 is torquier yadda yadda. Either is a fun car but the 1.9 is a quicker car and comes with better standard suspension and braking equipment an MI 16 or more modern S16 is a good conversion but the 2.0 8v turbo from a 406 or similar is an easy swap promising almost 200hp and a QUICK car(a conversion he has down to hours as opposed to days almost...)or if your really adventurous S16 turbo or supercharger, his last track car was a detuned to 400hp 2.1(diesel crank, forged everything)16v turbo that was good for over 170gps'd mph

Today turned into a clusterbomb as well, expecting it to not be straightforward is one thing but wasnt ready for the abject failure status it ended up. Went to a friends garage sounds of silence(they do custom stainless exhausts)tried fitting the rears first, first problem being the mk4 calipers I had never had banjo bolts and the ones supplied in the goodrige kit didnt fit. Settled for starting to fit everything then onto problem 2,the rear dust shield for the mk4 is nowhere near fitting, ditch that and refitted the knackered corrado one, problem 3 the mk4 carriers do not fit on the corrado hub, fitted the bearing to the disc and fitted that while working out the best way to notch the carrier when, problem 5,it becomes obvious that there is no way the disc and caliper is going to line up.... phoned paul)good mate,ex head vw parts guy at local dealer)at dingbro(local auto factors) for advice but he was in bed dying so really appreciated him chatting to try and work it out but outcome was run down to ding and try mk4 discs out for size although nowhere had I read of this being an issue.....sitting down at ding with all manner of discs out I phoned back to sounds and got ben to try the mk4 caliper on the corrado carrier and surprise surprise everything starts lining up  back up to sounds to try and find suitable bolts ended up running down to BSH to try them....nope,nothing that small, tried the marina as lots of boats use banjo fuel fittings....'nothing like that at all' from a little toad of a guy...tried mcalpines as I was passing on the off chance....nope,tried unipart and eddie walkers....nope,tried jim allans motorbike shop(where I sourced the missing banjos for the goodrige kit).....nothing that big (M12x10mmx1.25pitch)....into sounds again to get slaughtered, phoned pugeot(closest dealership)to try and blag some random pipes but never knew of any cars that ran M12 banjos so got told to go chase myself...phoned my brother and got numbers for skoda, seat, diamond engineering(local bolt specialist)....diamond...a banjo what??? we just have normal bolts mate...skoda....theyre just shutting sorry....seat,the parts guy was brand new, looking up and chatting numbers and cross referencing stuff tried a few different models and settled on a phase one leon shares the same fitting, ran through and checked the mechanics never had any kicking about in their boxes to save me buying the full hose but struck unlucky but gave me two options for hoses but ill need to go try them in person and they wont be in till next tuesday.... back to the car and basicallly refitted all the standard stuff so I could get home and bled the brakes as the whole result of the day was I got the smallest braided hoses that go from between the body and the axle fitted Job for monday is to order A. new rear caliper slides(rado ones are ducked) B. new rear caliper carrier bolts(rado ones are ducked) C new rear dust shields(rado ones are ducked) D. new mk4 rear caliper flexys(to get the banjo bolt) E. pick up missing front banjo bolt from my mate icy(supplied the fr.calipers) F. ail less

I was merging from a non-right of way although I was in front with lights and indicators on and in a merge and its due regard to give way so god knows but my lawyer says 'he ran into your ass so hes up the creek mate'. Repair wise its dependant on the insurance approved bodyshop I guess and the guy that done my 'sat is and has already said ....'to you' it would be a 250 fix and i can hopefully gather other 'friendly' ins. quotes' im not out to huck over the ins.comp, I just want to keep my car now so any bodyshop I go to will know I will provide an oem bumper if need be(really not required)and if they want to go to a quarter then ill go on to the next bodyshop if need be
-
its really just took a couple bites in the swages of the arch and gnarled the corner off the bumper really, its all easy fix stuff but depending which assesor sees it because its a rear quarter on an old coupe im a bit worried
-
company that own the truck that hit me are insistent that however little the damage it needs to go through the insurance :( Still going to fit the brakes and hope for the best anyway...finished the rears, loosened all the brake nipples but one of the rears is shafted so will need to get one before friday,a collection of copper banjo washers as the goodrige set was short and a mk3 sized front brake fitting as ive only got the one of them and the gr set comes with mk4 sized fittings piktarz
-
already sourced a late bumper but its the rear 3/4 dings that worry me. Depending what the truck drivers company want to do it could be written off pretty easy even though its a simple fix
-
sorry for the rubbish pictures but my phones battery died as the corrado also nearly did....heading home from work merging with slow moving rush hour traffic at the bottom of the motorway slip road, moved over into a gap between a pugeot and a truck, pugeot slowed to let the car in front of me in then picked up again, truck never and collected my rear quarter and almost spun me right round :( I felt the car skewing and steered into it and started feeding in gas as the truck never felt like slowing and almost got jammed clean under the front. Going via the bodyshop for a quote tomorrow morning then ill contact the trucks company and see whats happening and go from there
-
just read all your thread...you really havent caught many breaks :( good too see your sticking with it and taking it to the next level. Does the overhead crane at your workspace still operate would be handy for engine swaps lol
-
first day back at work and I do my own stuff all afternoon haha gave them a clean, ready for paint tomorrow or thursday came home after chasing up C+R about my hoses and when they would get here and..........they were behind the door waiting on me getting home lol so thats everything bar the painting ready for fitting on friday

I think theres 43 pages worth on one photobucket account for the jetta build alone,I usually take lots of pictures lol. The mk1 golf started as a 1.1 carb changed it to a 1.3 carb then fitted a 1.3 polo digifant injected motor before doing the KR conversion so thats got a rake of photos too. closest my jetta ever got(built and stripped it three times over the years)cant post the pics as theyre over 800 pixels wide :( http://s44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/V ... 1QQtppZZ16 had it almost completed, just needed a bit wiring but it had picked up a couple of scratches and stuff so the plan was to just do a windows out and jams sprayed again but I found too much of the original gambia red and a couple bad bits of rust from when it sat in my brothers garden storing for a couple years so decided one last build, stripped every nut and bolt and got the shell sand blasted so when I get back round to it it should look like it came from the factory in dragon green

we use P2G quite a lot and on occasions there have been issues, worst being a handler in a bad mood with no respect wrecking a set of wheels but customers complain about carriage costs otherwise so its a no win situation. They can be slow to respond to any problems though and I think its at basis in the hope that due to the value of some items some people will just give up

I think since dave redone his yours and seans are my favourite stateside corrados. Whats the plans for yours now or is it hush hush?

Kinda shy on pictures but we got there... bout 6pm we had most of the internals removed and disconnected while it was still dry then the snow started, managed to get the dash out and stopped for a breather highly detailed picture to show positioning of frozen scotsmen in idiocy mode...think this was about half ten and we just had the new matrix in,starting to rebuild up the heater box assembly and bones of the dash 11pm'ish,dash in and wiring roughly back in place, matrix connected in bay,car started and double checking plugs are all working and lights are all working, heater is all working 12:30am,home kettle on,picture for posterity I usually take more pictures off stuff like this but it was just a bit hectic :gag: Huge thanks to my mate who gave me a hand and use of his drive which was fairly sheltered :salute:

Hi,what bit of Glasgow? I work on the southside just shy of Braeheid :D
-
left and went over to my mates at the back of 2 but he'd been held up so never got started on work till half 4 and we had to swap the wheels on his mk6 over first as he's trading it in,started mine about 5pm'ish,it was cold(minus3)but clear and we got a decent start on it but halfway through getting the dash bolts out it started chucking it down with snow  persevered, cursed, cursed some more, cursed a lot :censored: ,got the windscreen dash bolts undone and the matrix out and stopped for coffee and a hot roll... went back out after the break and got stuck in to rebuilding it and finished buttoning up the lower panels at 11.30pm still snowing like a mofo. 20 minute drive home took an hour as the roads were insanity but no turkish bath and plentiful heat once again  took two pics but my camera was severely dying so it was very rough highlights ill try and get them up tomorrow but right now time for a brew and then bed

youll need to open up the bolt holes so that the wobble bolts can function properly but its an easy fix. Ive been looking for a 17" set to polish for a while
