  1. i also have kept the VR off the road today and now she has a nice snowy jacket!! the main reason for this is due to my location and the lack of traffic keeping the snow from settling on the road! but that hasn't stopped my from going out to play in my MK3 golf tdi with a full set of semi off road tyres which make alot of fun specially around the 4x4's they look at you and wonder how you are getting round so well specially when you go past them!!!!

  2. air gun is the easiest way, as it was i didn't need to change the pulley's i just left the vr one on there and placed the belt in the right grooves, the only thing i did have to change was the 2 pin plug as the seat one has an oval end, and the vr is totaly square. other that than that a straight fit,

on another note i'm having a 120amp alternator rebuilt but got a qoute for a new one can't remember if he said it was 130amp or 150amp for £130 plus the dreaded vat not a bad price but can't stretch to that at the moment!

  3. i fitted a 2.8 polished manifold to my vr and found it to be a bit better than the orginal, my therory behind this is, the 2.8 has a smaller plenum in width, so i assumed that the air flow would be more direct to the to each cylinder! and not just circulating in the larger 2.9 plenum, i may be wrong and i'm sure a guru on here will be able to put us right?

  4. And here we go again with a bit more to add to the weekend projects! Finally got the wiring sorted on my vdo gauges with much appreciated help from the forum members but mainly david wort and jsc999, but me being me went a bit further with install! i took the vdo gauges apart and cleaned them up but whilst they was apart i took the original lights out, i stripped these down to change the bulbs for led's and with a bit of tricky soldering did manage to get them all back together, and i must admit i am really pleased with the whiter lighter from behind which has now given me the urge to do the main dash!

  5. ok thanks guy's but have a slight issue with dave saying the brown is earth and jsc saying G druck is feed from sender, because they are they the same wire eg brown goes into the numer 1 slot whcih is marked G druck or am i being thick there!?

i also have another tech issue on the pressure switch it is marked g and mk i think? my question is which one for the gauges and which one for the buzzer or do you think it would be ok to just connect and find out!!

  6. have recieved the pressure sender switch now and have installed it, no problems there, but i do have a problem with the wiring for the VDO gauges the wiring diagram that i found on here does not corrispond with wires that i have on the back of the unit and was hoping some would be able to shed some light on where they go for me? the wire colours are

    All brown

    Red and black

    Brown and white

    Black and white

any help will greatly be recieved

next job will be wiring the bugger in with the vdo gauges! so please don't dissapear i may well call on you all again

    once again many thanks

  8. many thanks for that, looks like i will have to get my self a new sender which is a bit of a bummer as i have recently replaced both switches!

can any one give me some pointers as to where i can get the said senders? i know it's lazy but it will save me time trawling the forum and the web!
