What Wullie said! :)
-
I have an even better one than that, it involved a T5 police Volvo upside down in the pub carpark at midnight, after clipping a kerb and going airborne. It flew over a 3 foot wall and skimmed the tops of 6 cars. The two armed coppers were walking around dazed carrying Heckler&Koch weapons around their necks. I had to convince them to sit down on the wall and wait for help. They told the newspaper it was a minor accident!
-
I used to workout at a gym where some coppers did, they liked to talk about work related stuff. One was driving a panda car and going through a red light, hit an old couple in another car seriously injuring them. He confessed to me that he was "bricking it" as he was speeding and had no blues and twos going at the time and he knew it was his fault. When it came to court he got off and the old couple were blamed! A woman PC spoke in court for him and said that, when she went on shift she was always relieved when she knew "Knob end" (not his real name) was driving as he was a fantastic driver! I read the quote in the paper.....made me want to puke!
-
I've not been intouch with him since he and my sister split. He worked for Audi VW for a long time. Always ringing me and saying I've "stole" this px it owes £50 or whatever, bring the cash and it's yours. Dealers don't want what they term "runts" on their forcourt and it costs to put them in the block (auction) so if you are friendly with them and will take all the crap (as they see it) and have cash, they are happy.
-
It's like I was saying, If they give you £1000 px you are getting at best £500. That's the way they work. Suppose the deal was on a car costing £3k, you hand over your car and £2k. But in reality £2.5k cash would have bought that car from them. So if you had sold yours for only £1k you would be better off. I've had cars off my ex brother in law for £50 and sold them on for a grand. The £50 was all they owed, the previous owners thought they had got around a grand in px! It's just how the motor trade make a living.
-
So how come you wouldn't let it go fo a grand cash? You would be in a better position than a supposed £1000 px allowance.
-
Probably......but with a cardboard "model" he built!!!!! My wife just said it would get all soggy!?
-
Tell em about the honey mummy!!!!!!
-
Haha! Stomp on em more like! And drink em under the table!
-
My sisters ex husband was in the motor trade so I know how things work. If you trade it in they will actually be giving you nothing for the car, no matter what they tell you. If you try to sell to a trader you will get less than the £500 you were offered. If you have to sell you have to take the best offer, the motor traders term it "taking your medicine"!
-
Good luck with the sale it looks an interesting car if I were staying in this country I would be tempted in making an offer!
-
They do employ some intelligent people then! Lol If you see a big lass carrying a Torro Rosso front wheel, tell her you know her uncle!
-
I think it's cos you are cutting and pasting to change font size? Just re-write it. I sold my VR6 to a member on here the other week, I only owned it for 7 months but my plans changed, I lost on it but I know it's gone to a good home and will be well looked after.......as I said sometimes you have to sell and move on.
-
Just looked at your ebay ad, there seems to be a problem with the wording as it's all overlapping! The previous ad gives the feeling of agressive desperation, I know you can get knobheads and chancers looking for a bargain but I find it's best to politely turn down their offers. I was looking for a landcruiser a few weeks ago, made an opening offer on one on ebay. I got a refusal and a nasty message telling me my offer was a ...king insult! My offer was a starting point and I was prepared to negotiate upwards to around twice as much. I told him this and told him he was a c**t......then I bought one from someone else!
-
Can you use a spanner! Lol
-
Make sure you post the link on here, If we lived closer you could put it on my drive no worries. No one on here live near you and have room to park it for a while? Where's the ad?
-
You are a bit stuck then. If you do sell cheap let someone on here have the bargain and not some trader that will give you a couple of hundred quid for it and treat you like hes doing you a favour. Can't you get a garage to rent from someone where you live, lots of people have them empty and would love £40 a month rent?
-
Not surprised with the calibre of people formula one teams employ! My older sister's two kids are involved in motor racing. Her daughter works for Toro Rosso, and was previously off side front wheel for Toyota and Lotus. Her son is a partner in a club racing outfit. Neither knew one end of a spanner from a screwdriver! At the age of 16 her son didn't know what a vice was, despite the fact their dad was in the motor trade and was always fixing cars up at home! Ok so they did engineering at uni, but had no aptitude for mechanical things before this.

I have known a few people that ended up paying "we buy any car" to take it away! They give you one price on the web site then less when you get there. They have a £50 admin fee that you pay too! Put the car on here, lot's of pics and honest description. A lot of people won't travel to Scotland as they see it as a long way.....I would travel anywhere for the right car! If you are as desperate as you sound to get rid ask for best offer and move on.

I was looking through the pics I have of my previous cars and wondered if anyone on here owned them? Blue G60 J556 RNH (I bought this in 1993) White VR6 K3 JCR ( Bought in 1995) Green VR6 N93 CKY ( Bought in 1998...) The G60 had been on a private plate but the previous owner kept it.......H1S VW........nice plate! The White VR6 had the previous owners initials JCR, high on the miles but every service stamp in the book was done in Germany. The owner lived in Wakefield and worked in Germany......Looooong weekly commute! The green VR6 was ultra low miles and never saw a winter road while I owned it, sold it to go to Oz in 2003. Any info on how they are now would be nice :) I will blank the reg numbers if anyone is concerned. MJ P.S Is this where I find out I was the first person on here to own a Corrado?????? Lol
-
Thats actually not too bad Kip. If you take away the value of the cars now and divide the rest by 15.....that's a cheap "hobby". I know people who spend more on beer and cigs. A person has to do the things in life that make them happy, if they possibly can. As the saying goes "here for a good time not a long time"! By my reckoning you spent less than 2k per year......20 cigs a day would be more than that! :)
-
Lucky you walked away and no one else was seriously injured. Always amuses me in these situations where terrible fortune ends in a very lucky escape, people say buy a lottery ticket.......in my mind you just used up your good luck staying alive.

Nothing wrong with updating a car and wheels are a good way of doing this. After all manufactures work down to a price for things like suspension, brakes and wheels, so it's a good way to improve things.
-
I hope you have a long and happy relationship with "Sharky" :) ---------- Post added at 08:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:47 PM ---------- Danny I am with you on the wheels.....I was never keen on them, they came with the car. I was going to put "Dotz Mugellos" (think thats how they are spelt) on. I reverted to the Speedlines as they did look heaps better.

I saw the car in the flesh when I bought some spares from the guy selling. To be fair he didn't look like your usual "Arthur Dailey" used car sales man. He looks like a mechanic with a proper workshop who also sells cars. He has his own Aqua blue VR6, wouldn't be surprised if he was on here. Looked like the kind of place you would get a decent personal warranty....as much as anyone can at that mark up. I didn't look the car over too close but I would have no probs buying from him. The price looks fair and after all everyone needs to make a living.
