well basically its taking your lights apart and painting everything that doesn't reflect light to your desired colour, in my case, black.

In the process of 'joey modding' my headlights. dont fully understand why its called that. just saw it on the golfgti forum. haven't seen any posts on here about it so, ill post some pictures when i'm done. thinking about it, it might be a terrible idea due to the poor light output anyway
  4. where is the thermostat on the g? on my old mk3 golf it was a pain to get to. sorry i meant 70 degrees! and another what is this question.. is this the carbon canister and can/how do i get rid of it? its not connected to anything at the bottom and it came from the circle hole in the bottom left of the pic
  5. right guys cheers for all your information, and the brake fluid reservoir was empty when i got the car, so i filled it back up it took 250ml+ to get it just under max, i think its just abit grubby though cause you cant see the brake fluid line from the outside. also, how do you change the coolant, im pretty sure the dick before me has just used water. and also where is the temp sender as my temperature gauge wont read over 90 degrees. and JMC do you know what parts i can take off then if they are unneccisary? and yeah i know about the induction, but he didnt still have the box, theres not much i can do about it now =[ cheers guys!
  6. oh righty, well when I pinch that pipe. the whistling pitch changes. thought it was unusual, and yeah its a g60. ill go get a wider picture now. ---------- Post added at 12:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:24 PM ---------- sorry about the dirty bay lol
  7. I open my engine bay and see this, just bought the car so i want to put it back to origional i dont like how there is a bolt shoved in a pipe thats been jubilee clipped together, i think it may have something to do with the whistle i can hear sometimes. and maybe something to do with a 'dump valve' someone has fitted, anyway, anyone know where it goes or can shine some light on this? cheers.
  8. what is the best oil to put in a g60, im doing an oil service today cheers
  9. However i think i shall be pestering you guys an aweful lot. first complaint, the handbrake light is on all the time, sometimes flickers then goes off, but then comes on soon after. second is that although the clutch and the gears feel amazing, the shift feels like mixing a cocktail, its kinda a gamble if you'll get first or third, or fourth or second. other than that, loving it!

sorry about taking ages to reply, i was on my phone before and there was far too much to remember while i was typing in this box lol! i forgot to bring any tools to look in the boost pipes, and its 124,000miles. and i was thinking 164 at the fly sounds low as its supposed to be 160 at the wheels standard? would a rebuild fix that you think? and its this one if it helps http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170669460538&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_540wt_1138 oh and unfortunately it has a dump valve, not sure how its fitted but I can only presume that its possibly sapping power. and when I saw the oil that was the first thing I thought as the oil is really important to the g-lader. and I haven't been in a g60 before, but i was in my mates mk2 golf 2.0 16v the other day and it pulled a bit better than that, and that was dyno'd at 140 I think, but like someone said earlier, dynos are all different

well i didnt feel round there but where the oil was was toward the right of the charger, would tappets be expensive to fix? and it got a reconditioned one in 2004 nothing since didnt have mileage though and also its had a chip and remap apparently and was dynoed 2 years ago at 164bhp at the flywheel cheers for the quick response

just went to view a g60, sorry if this is in the wrong section, everything was good except for when i got there the car was already warm... are g60's renouned for having any cold start issues? also there was a little bit of oil under where the charger is. felt under the charger couldn't feel any coming from it though, also the oil was fairly black. the car pulled very well as the guy liked to show me around some of the most twisted ever :bonk: also when people say what bhp they have is that at the flywheel or at the wheels? anyone enlighten me on some things, dont wanna buy a dog.
  13. I was thinking about doing that, but I would feel like i was putting somone out of their way, although there is another rado in cromer that i might need someone to look at, it has a pinking issue but is going cheap and i kinda wanna know why lol. and sorry mate, i didnt mean to offend! is that part replaceable? or have you got a bit of welding to do?
  14. so take that off at the charger end? and if theres alot of oil the charger has seen many a better day? also, that is ALOT of rust! i hope the one i go to see doesnt look like that! haha
  15. Im going to see it wednesday so ill have a look at that. how does it come off? jubilee clip? or just a pull? anything else i should look out for, besides the obvious?
  16. the car is 2 hours away, 4 hour round trip! so I was trying to get as much information. although the person has agreed to meet me halfway im going to have to go have a look see. cheers for all the advise by the way guys so i need to look for oil leaks around the charger?
  17. yeah if it was a worn pipe it wouldnt be too bad. well its owned by tlc-g60 on this forum, i did a bit of research and i cant see many posts about bad things, just no charger rebuild and a bit of surface rust
  18. didnt know where to post this really, but here seemed best. im looking at buying this corrado, thing is its about a 4 hour round trip. so been asking the owner a few questions. the car has done 90,000miles and has never had a charger rebuild, i asked her to get the mfa boost results as shown on this list i found on a website Start engine Move the MFA selector to "2" Press and hold the MFA end button (keep holding) Stop engine Start engine Release the MFA end button. Press the MFA End button one time. You should now see 550-750 readings fluctuating with idle. Anything higher than 750 is probably not right (a vacuum leak possibly?). Much less than 550 is probably too much timing advance. Run the car to the redline in 3rd and 4th gears noting the highest readings you get Running a standard 78mm pulley you should see 11psi if the charger is in good nick but a charger with a smaller pulley should make more than 11.6 EURO Hg(#'s of boost/vacuum) 200 - 23.7 400 - 17.8 600 - 11.9 800 - 5.9 1000 0 (Atmospheric pressure, charger is bypassed?) 1200 2.9 psi (You have a major boost leak) 1400 5.8 psi (Your charger is in very poor condition) 1600 8.7 psi (Your charger would benefit from new apex strips) 1800 11.6 psi (Good for stock pulley, needs new apex strips if 68mm pulley) 2000 14.5 psi (Good for 68mm pulley on stock charger) 2200 17.4 psi (Good for 68mm pulley on heavily ported charger) i got an email back from her saying this: Hi john, I took it out but if I'm honest I didn't dare take it up to red in 4th. It's s bit bonkers because I'd be doing 100mph over. But in 3rd it went to 820 and then again up to 1250 right near the red. I'm sorry if this doesn't really help. in all honesty, going over 100 is ridiculous just wondering if anyone has anything to say about this cause, the information in the email would suggest a 'major boost leak'. could getting it refurbed fix this or would it be well and truly shagged? cheers, john
  19. cheers. It might just be the grille but I think the older front end looks more dated, the newer one just appeals more to me. its only in the lights and grille. or maybe the one im looking at just needs the lights cleaned? lol
  20. haha, your probably right, changine the grille sounds easier!, whats different about the fogs and indicators then? they look the same. sorry about all the questions, i dont wanna f*ck anything up! lol
  21. cheers for the quick reply, are all the parts interchangeable? cause its more the lights and grille, maybe front bumper that i would want to change. its just the one im looking at buying has about 500 slats in the grille :thumbleft:
  22. Right, im looking to buy a g60, and i cant find any g60s in the newer style, is it possible to make the front end of the older models the same as the front end of the newer ones? sorry if this has been asked before, i did try looking cheers
  23. up to £2500 a g60 lowish mileage (nothing above 125000) based in hertfordshire. i was looking at this one from this forum http://the-corrado.net/classifieds.php?do=viewitem&itemid=551 but i have to wait about a month to get the funds, which is slightly annoying me!
  24. cheers for the quick replies, do you know where the buying guide is, i just did a quick search but couldnt find it lol. ---------- Post added at 04:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:21 PM ---------- beat me to it, cheers ---------- Post added at 04:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:22 PM ---------- also, what are the differences between the newer and older shape g60s?
  25. im really looking for a g60, can anyone tell me on things to look out for, or opinions on them cheers!
