  4. I ended up salvaging some from vw breakers, but as I said was only a temp fix, monroe have sent correct springs now so all is good. :thumbleft:
  5. Ive been running a 2.8L golf vr engine in mine for about 8 months, and seems quieter than the 2.9. Only thing that I saw that was different is the timing chain, and rocker cover which is plastic and I think helps eliminate cam noise.
  6. Im only after early vr6 spring seats as a temporary measure until Monroe source the correct springs for my car, they are standard springs so not fussed about not lowering it enough. I was just wondering what other models of vw use the same early rado upper spring seats. ---------- Post added at 10:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:43 PM ---------- Im only after early vr6 spring seats as a temporary measure until Monroe source the correct springs for my car, they are standard springs so not fussed about not lowering it enough. 7. Got some new suspension the other day from Monroe, and they sent me springs for the early vr6's and mine is a late vr, so the upper seats are incorrect. They are trying to source the correct springs for me, but until then I need to get some older upper spring seats. Does anyone know any good part numbers? and if the same parts were fitted to other models (such as mk2 golfs, mk3 golfs) cheers Ali
  8. Monroe send me the wrong springs for my car which is a vr6, and one of the springs wont stay seated and keeps popping off! Im after the larger front upper spring seats off a 1.8 16v, 2.0L 8v ect as a temporary fix until they can send me out the correct springs. Text or call me on 07446693821, I live in carterton, Oxfordshire cheers Ali
  9. Up for sale is a set of bilstein b8 dampers and progressive eibach springs for a VR6. Selling as im fitting standard springs and shocks back on the car as I prefer the ride. The springs and shocks have been on the car since September 2012 and have only covered about 3000 miles. Never been on a track day and are in excellent condition. I am fitting the standard suspension next week so when I remove the bilsteins and eibachs I will get some pics up. After £400 for the springs and shocks any questions please text me on 07446693821
  10. Trying to fault diagnose yet another auto spoiler control issue on a 95 vr6. Got a G68 Vehicle speed sensor (intermitten/no signal) fault so changed the VSS which mounts onto the gbox. Cleared the fault code took it for a drive, no auto spoiler and the g68 error code came back, anyone had this issue before? My speedo works fine, blue/while wire isn't plugged into the back of my stereo, need to remove the error code really so I can rule out the VSS. The VSS was brand new from the states, only thing I can think of is that the part no of my old one was 191.919.149.A, and the new one is 191.919.149.D Fits fine and looks similar but im not sure if they kick out different pulse signals which could confuse ecu. cheers
  11. Sorry Sensor no longer for sale, as ive found the sensor is missing the tacho drive.
  12. Selling a VR6 Vehicle Speed Sensor, the one that is mounted top rear of the Gbox. Ordered 2 from america and only need one. £50 Can post or arrange pickup, im located in Oxfordshire 07446693821
  13. Up for sale is my 1994 Vr6 in Twilight violet Had to rewrite the advert due to an editing muckup the car has 143000 miles on the clock as had a load of work done last july when I took the car off the road and removed the engine and subframe ect. Mot due date is 19/07/2013 Serviced by VW May 2013 5 months tax work done to the car includes: -All engine ancillaries changed (power steering pump, water pump, oil pump, alternator, aux belt and tensioner) -steering rack has been replaced as well as track rod ends -all subframe bushes replaced as well as engine mounts (rear gbox mount is upraded mk4 tdi mount) -Lower swing arms have r32 bushes fitted with genuine vw ball joints -When I had the engine out I refurbished all the engine bay wiring fitting proper loom tape. -Also fitted a mk3 golf vr6 2.8 engine with 90k on clock, unfortunately I don't have any service history with the engine, but it is smooth and quiet and put out 194 bhp when put on the rollers at stealth racing, and uses very little oil. -bilstien b8 dampers fitted with eibach progressive springs -All discs and calipers all round have been changed, fronts uprated to 288mm brakes and all calipers are brand new. -Rear bearings have just been done, and front wheel bearings were done 1 1/2 years ago -has a pioneer head unit with blue tooth, and hands free, with pioneer 6x9 speakers at the rear. -Headlight wiring loom upgrade has been fitted -All drive shaft CV joints have been replaced -I have replaced numerous coolant pipes, including the crack pipe, small pipes which connect to it which are hard to get to, thermostat housing and thermostat. -Window was changed at the end of last year -Cat 1 Clifford alarm fitted the heater controls all work, as do all the electrics (sunroof ect) however the rear spoiler auto control doesn't work but it works on the switch I have a Vehicle speed sense unit on order and this will hopefully fix the problem. The bonnet has stone chips on it and the rear arches are just starting to go, but seem solid. The Sills are solid and have no signs of rust The car is located In Carterton Oxfordshire, but can drive up to stockport if someone is serious about buying. After £2900 Overall the car is excellent and will be sorry to see it go, any questions please call me on 07446693821 Here is a link to the advert on pistonheads for pics: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...6-1994/1411546
  14. Hi folks, got a g68 vehicle speed sensor (gearbox mounted one), no speed signal on my vagcom, which is why im hoping that my spoiler wont go up and down in auto (works in manual) Dash speedo still works. Anyway having a search on google and having trouble finding a 2nd hand sensor, or a part number for a new one. Does anyone know a good number? and if vw still sell them? cheers.
  15. Nice one cheers for the help.
  16. Cheers for the info, any idea of any particular brands of white grease? I assume you can get the stuff from halfords.
  17. Does anyone know the correct grease to use on the vr6 cable operated gearshift linkage? Cheers

    VR6 Misfire

Check your coolant hoses, mainly the ones that connect to the rear of your cylinder head, i had one go on me last year and it sprayed water into the spark plug holes and caused a misfire, happened to a mates golf vr as well.
  23. Im currently replacing x2 front hard brake lines that run from the ABS block to the L/H and R/H felxible lines, but having a hard time sourcing the plastic clips that hold the pipes in place which are situated on the firewall between the brake servo and the abs system, anyone know of any good numbers or web site i can get these, will try and get some pics up later if i can. Cheers
  24. Sounds to me like your coilpack, had a mate with very similar issues on his mk3 golf vr. Did it when warm (96degrees C) would do it for a few seconds then be fine, swapped his coilpack for mine and ran fine, nice easy fix all be it a bit costly. Make sure you get a quality coilpack, his had only been on his car for a year and went belly up.
  25. Cheers for the offer, really after the same colour as mine
