  1. I had the same issue with an early pump, all the seals turned to goo and gunked up the fuel tank. I don’t think the rubber components of the early pumps were ever available.
  2. Fires in Corrados are thankfully rare. I do remember one of the Campaigns having a fire in the dash. Have you posted on the Vauxhall Zafira forum?
  3. There is very little which can fail on the swirl pot. It’s usually the inner pump which fails. The problem is that it usually comes supplied as a complete unit. How wasteful!!
  4. I also purchased these fuel line clamps from Ebay. 9-11mm size is perfect for the swirl pot to lid hoses. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MINI-FUEL-LINE-304-STAINLESS-STEEL-HOSE-CLIPS-DIESEL-PETROL-WATER-PIPE-CLAMPS/222439718697?hash=item33ca70bf29:m:mldTcloVxke3NsIktaDQVwA&var=521302934463
  5. That’s the sort of money Corrados should be Commanding today, based upon similar classics from the same era.
  6. I’m pleased to report that my fuel pump arrived safely today. Having visually checked the original VDO pump against the Johns pump they look identical. I just need to put time aside to fit the new one. Having ordered the new pump, the one I have fitted is working perfectly. I guess it’s just a matter of time before it packs in.
  7. Leather rear cards and cloth door cards would suggest that the interior has changed from factory. Very nice seats though. I would be worth putting the car in for an MoT. It may pass you never know. If it fails, it will give prospective buyers an idea of what work needs doing. £5k is a big gamble for most people.
  8. A good example of a Corrado is a good example. The Storm badge and premium is perhaps becoming less relevant.
  9. Question- Will you take an offer? Reply - No but I will include the wheels!
  10. That’s a beautiful paint job. A cracking car for someone to love, enjoy and cherish.
  11. If all goes to plan, I will be fitting the Johns pump with the VDO sender. I provided the part number of the original later VDO pump and 4 bar pressure rating to J.P. to which they gave their response. HTH.
  12. Whether you buy just the pump with a one year warranty or the Johns unit from Buy Car Parts with a two year warranty, the choice is yours
  13. Here’s the response from JP regarding the availability of the later pump... “Hello, thanks for your mail. Unfortunately we do not have this item in our range. I apologize for not being able to help Have a nice day Mit freundlichen Grüßen Henriette Schultz”
  14. Mine was almost definitely fitted with an early pump as I have owned the car since it was a few years old. I have opted for the complete pump and swirl pot assembly as it works out over £20 cheaper than the pump alone. Option 2 would be to just replace the pump.
  15. Yes it seems to be a bit of a minefield. My VR is an early (94) model to which I am going to fit a later pump as I have a VDO sender. Not sure about the Bosch units. These pumps https://www.fuelpumpsonline.co.uk/fuel-pump-for-volkswagen-corrado-vr6-29-p30311-24905-p.asp have the same part number if you want to swap just the pump?
  16. A Mk2 Cortina 1600E, paid £640. It’s still on the road today, but sadly not in my possession.
  17. J.P. has advised that they do not manufacture a pump assembly suitable for the VR. Buy Car Parts Tech Dept has confirmed the following pump is suitable https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/lnk-4930287 I have just purchased a pump from Buy Car Parts with an option to return if it is unsuitable. Just over £40 all in.
  18. I have a Pierberg fitted at the moment. I also have a spare VDO pump and sender which I have successfully taken apart today. The replacement with a J.P. unit or the replacement of just the VDO pump will be the way ahead :)
  19. I would only go for the J.P. pump and swirl pot if it was a direct replacement. I have emailed J.P. with a parts query.
  20. I have just figured how to remove the plastic casing. After holding the two tabs in with watch screwdrivers, I was able to pull the pump free, which then left a plastic inner sleeve which simply slid off. Surprised that nothing broke in the process given the age of the pump. Looks like I will get away with getting just the pump. I have also made an enquiry with Buy Parts on Line and wait to see what they recommend.
  21. Bauhaus thanks. The link shows just the pump but without the associated plastic bits which sit at the bottom of the OE pump. There are are couple of tabs on this, but I can’t figure how to remove it.
  22. You should hear the pump prime and come up to pressure when you first switch on the ignition. I have run 12v directly to the pump from a separate battery having removed the supply fuel line from the top of the fuel tank. Fuel should come gushing out so you will need to disconnect the power quickly! Also don’t have the 12v supply too close - petrol and sparks don’t mix! I have to use this method regularly, using reverse polarity first to get my sticky pump working.
  23. I will give them a call next week. I didn’t realise the units were so cheap from JP.I have just noticed the Euro Car Parts stock a 4 bar unit for £120.
  24. Not much luck in finding a 4 bar pump on it’s own. Everything seems to be rated at 3 bar or less.
