L reg Rado Northwick Park, Harrow way this evening 8 ish. Hi
-
I think that sounds about right. My locksmith was a bit more expensive but then he had to gain access to the car. I also got two keys from the locksmith.
-
When I lost my sole key, VW were a waste of time. After over a month, I was told the car was too old for them to provide a replacement. Auto locksmith managed to get into the car, made up new key, coded to the transponder. I also have a TOAD alarm. If you email TOAD with the serial number and proof of ownership of the car (IIRC) they'll email back the pin code for the alarm. For me it arrived the very same day. Coding a new TOAD fob was dead easy - mind you the fob wasn't cheap - abt £50 I think. Cheers Jeff

That is one smart looking Rado.

Another Corrado owner here desperate for a bonnet release cable! If anyone can help please let me know Cheers Jeff

Hi Ben, Radorocco from the Scirocco Register here. Welcome to the forum and Corrado ownership. They're great little cars. Wish you all the best with your new (ad)venture! Cheers Jeff

Travelled from London to Edinburgh for my Corrado, London to Yeovil for my Dolomite and London to Warrington for the GT6! Haven't been disappointed in any of them. Maybe I've just been lucky!

Bonnet is only releasing on the passenger side. Any advice on best way to get the driver side open? Thanks in advance Jeff

Is the rear suspension the same on a 16V as on a VR6, looking at options for a replacement et up on 16V (ex-coilover of some flavour) Cheers Jeff
-
Am looking for complete rear suspension set (shocks, springs etc) Thanks Jeff

Quick shout out to the Rado (VR6?) northbound 7.45 M1 tonight Watford ish. Was a bit focussed on the road and didn't really notice you until it was almost too late. Was so surprised to see another on the road. ATB Jeff

All systems are go! Alarm pin code entered, fob coded in and have now managed to drive the Rado for the first time in months. One slight problem though, was whilst unlocking the passenger side door (with key), there was a bit if a clunk as something fell down inside the door and the lock barrel came of of the door! I guess some retaining clip or screw wasn't done up correctly, after the locksmith had put the lock back after taking it out to cut the new key. Now to get the door card off and have a look but the central locking does lock/ unlock the door. Cheers Jeff

Yay - Box located!!! Tucked up under the dash above the centre console. Now to see if I can get the pin code from the serial number. Here's hoping. Cheers Jeff

Chhers Jim, spoketo Stealth but not easliy done with the 16V ECU (although the VR6 no problem), however, finally some good news! My friendly neighborhood auto locksmiths have managed to open the car, cut 2 new keys, located the transponder chip and coded them in. Now the final step - onto the TOAD alarm! I gather from TOAD that they should be able to give me the pin code so I can programme in some new fobs so now I just need to find the alarm box (fairly sure it is behind the glove box somewhere) and get the serial no. Cheers Jeff

Cheers Geoff, we were just back from Cornwall staying over @ Caterham Travelodge for an early start to Brands on the Sunday for the BTCC. I love my Rocco but can't wait to get my Rado back on the road!

Just remembered, Saturday 4th April a blue Rado on M25 Just before eastbound junction 6 about 7pm looking very smart, I was in the jade green Scirocco MK2 followed you off a jct 6!

OK I am rapidly running out of ideas/ options with this. It transpires that VW cannot supply a replacement key as they no longer have the key serial numbers for a car of this age (1995) Cannot seem to get a 2nd hand lock set (none of those available are the immobiliser transponder chip type which was fitted to my car) Options seem to be 1) hoping VW can supply a replacementlock set but I dread to think how much that might cost.2) Just scrap the car If anyone has any suggestions as to alternative courses of action please let me know Cheers Jeff
-
Roger, unfortunately I have no idea what the access code is! Cheers Jeff

The Mk6 wife

Hi, I am in the unfortunate position of having lost my solitary key and alarm fob for the Corrado causing untold aggo! So I have ordered some duplicate keys from VW (hoping that the car still has the original locks) and I have no reason to suppose otherwise as the key I had fitted everything. More unfortunately the car has a Toad AI606 alarm (fitted in 2009) and I only had one fob. DOH! So once I can get access to the car, I understand that I could either a) get some progammable fobs for the existing alarm but I will need to get the serial number off of the control box to see if TOAD can find out the pin code or b) simply replace the control box - whihc will presumably come with fobs. For either I will need to find out where the control box for the alarm is, anyone know where these tend to end up being hidden in a Corrado? Finally I will need to get the car recovered to VW to hve the keys coded in. What a palaver! Thanks Jeff

Recently got the Rado out for its winter duties. When nearly home, I noticed that the battery light was on. Sure enough the alternator/water pump/crankshaft belt had come off - looks like a frayed edged had snagged somewhere and pulled the belt off otherwise the belt looks sound. Strangely although I'm sure it's routed correctly, it seems to be about an inch too short to re-fit. Maybe it's me being a bit dumb but I am completely baffled. Any pointers on fitting a new belt as it probably should be replaced (or indeed refitting the old one fir the moment) ? Thanks Jeff

Sounds a great choice Jim, I love the MK2 shape, don't recall seeing many in blue. My GT6 becomes tax exempt this year, yay! Cheers Jeff

As per signature really. GT6 was our first. We were inexorably drawn into a car club on the South Coast my father in law was heavily involved with. We got fed up going to events without a classic, so ended up with the GT6. Next up was the Dolly. My daily shed - a Rover 416 expired, getting replaced by the 1850. I must confess the Dolly wasn't my first choice, I was originally thinking of a Mk2 Triumph 2000 but finally decided it would be a bit big, so settled on a Dolomite. Had always fancied a Corrado but could never afford one until now, so that was next. Finally, I have always, always had a soft spot for the MK2 Scirocco, since my first - a 1983 CL back in 1986. A decent looking GTX came along and proved irresistable!! I am now utterly sworn that the Rocco will be the last. Doesn`t stop me looking wistfully at the classifieds though :D Cheers Jeff

What I did to my Corrado today? After 6 months I finally drove the bloody thing again  having finally sorted out my seized rear calliper/ carrier etc which I do not think I could possibly have done without the support and advice of forum members, so huge thanks to everyone who helped. Ermmm.....now on with the other side :D Cheers Jeff
