  1. That was nice of them! I'll no doubt build the shelf myself as I'm in the trade anyway, cheers though Ideally you want to build enclosures for all your woofers, this includes sub woofers and mid-hi woofers usually (coaxial speakers) located on parcel shelfs etc. The reason for the enclosures is to stop forward and rear generated sounds becoming out of phase with one another, effectively putting a dense / solid barrier between the directional sounds being generated. Enclosures help to eliminate distortion and echoing, allowing for a tighter and punchier sound. They also help to balance the system, especially if you want to run and get the most out of your EQ. Props on the sound deadening too BTW ;)
  2. Like the stealth shelf with the central VW logo - different. Did you do that yourself? Def looking to build a stealth shelf into mine, although I'll probably encapsulate the woofers on the underside of the shelf some how too for that seamless look
  3. Spoonfed do deliver to the uk last time I checked and delivery wasn't unreasonable, they were even willing to mark the item as a gift to avoid unnecessary duty costs etc (arrange this with them before hand). Would be great to wrap my C up for winter but with no drive / garage at the moment - not gonna happen. A fiend of the family uses these (see below) on his cars but then he really loves his cars! http://www.carcoon.com/carcoon-double-skin-outdoor/outdoor-carcoon-size-3

    Aargh

Had the same thing a while back - if the car wasn't being used it would go flat in 2-3 days. Easy fix - save your matches and get a new battery!
  5. BILLZEEBUB - You sure it wasn't a green Storm? Sounds like Nick's (member banan0r) motor to me although I have seen a slightly tired green C around the area as well (seen once) which as far as I know isn't his. I'm local to the Woodmansterne area myself and have a 16v 2.0 (dark blue, smoothed front bumper - you can't miss it :D)
  6. Don't mind roof racks, in fact some can look pretty rad as well as being quite useful! The bra's though... Really? They're great for shows but that's it. Unless your car's got nipples - Bra's should be nowhere near cars unless they're on the back seat
  7. Stone - Use this instead: http://ifinterface.com/page/page3.php?langid=1 I've always found VAGCAT schematics to be a little crude (although perfectly useful). If you haven't got access to ETKA then the IFInterface system is def the way to go if you want clearer images.

    9a exhaust

CORRECTION: Exhaust opens up around 4000RPMS. Re-checked this morning ;) Can't go wrong with it. Unless of course you're missing the OEM mounts attached to the underside of the car (as what happened with me). The old Powerflow system was thrown on by the looks of it damaging / partially removing the middle exhaust mount. As a result the new Jetex taps the rear axle from time to time (only when Idle) - I'm taking it back to the garage this weekend hopefully to get it sorted out as stuff like this bothers the f*ck outta me. Normally I'd take care of stuff like this but when you've just spent over 400 big ones, the garage can bloody well sort it out! When it's sorted I'll see what I can do re video of sound.
  9. The guys in the Tyre Centre after fitting 2 x new Falken front tyres on my C started laughing for some reason as they were reading the alignment results - I said what's so funny? One of the lads replied "out of all the Corrado's or MK2 golfs I've checked over the years, none I imagine drive straighter than this one!" I let him drive the car out of the garage
  10. 1. I have a healthy obsession for pain and would happily ditch my career to compete professionally in the UFC 2. I drink Earl grey tea because I was brought up on it and it relaxes me 3. I love the smell of my dog's ears (and his feet, if he hasn't trodden in **** of course) Andy H - Ouch. I completely smashed up the whole left side of my body and was trapped (inc motorbike) underneath a long wheel base transit. The van had to be lifted off of me to get me out. Even with multiple broken bones, open wounds, lacerations, bruises bumps etc I still got up and ran over to the twat to share my thoughts on his unannounced u-turn across 3 lanes of steady moving traffic... Adrenalin is a wonderful thing ;) Cops had to come along and ruin all the fun though unfortunately

    9a exhaust

Sounds great, and is way better than my old Powerflow system. It really opens up at around 5000RPM and gets progressively more aggressive. It's not the sort of exhaust that will get the cops attention right away in traffic around town but open it up and well, you'll know about it. If you want to the same Jetex exhaust can be supplied with a fitted silencer to quieten it down (much like the OEM exhaust) if that's your thing
  12. M14 - That's great, thanks supercharged. I've used AVS a few times, they're great for spares actually Jim - The ifinterface is actually better than VAGCAT (sort of). The schematics are similar to ETKA (and way better than VAGCAT) and you can click directly on the drawing itself to hop to the required part number. Feels like a BETA version though so a bit glitchy at times (mines just crashed!) will definitely keep an eye on this one and try on my computer home which is way better than the piece of cr*p I'm using at work.
  13. Looking to do an engine oil & filter change in the next couple of weeks and would like to replace the sump plug washer to ensure a tight seal. Normally I grab part numbers etc from VAGCAT in advance but it looks like their servers are down. Does anyone know the part number for this? If I can order one in from somewhere - even better. Driving to vw just to order a washer seems a tad excessive and I imagine will cost me more in fuel! Any advice on engine oil changes welcome Cheers, C 92 16V 2.0
  14. Hi Jim, Thanks for clearing that up, looks like the the cable and fixings (bar one white plastic clip running along the engine bay towards the cabin) are intact. Should be a fairly straight forward job in that case - if it ever stops f*cking raining!
  15. Great build - I dread to think what this has cost to date though... but really - who cares eh. We do this stuff because we love to and that car's definitely getting a whole lotta love right there!

    9a exhaust

Bought and fitted @ Tuning Werkes in South Croydon. Will dig out the reciept and grab a part number for you later on this eve. No pics yet although I believe it's this one: https://www.jetex.co.uk/jetex/store/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=1908&added=1

    9a exhaust

Just fitted a new Jetex cat back system (not silenced but street legal) to my 9A over the weekend, it replaced my old rusty Powerflow system and is an OEM fitment so bolts straight on. The Jetex is definately better, everything's polished and ready to fit, and it sounds throaty, airy and deep instead of being tinny, loud and obnoxious like most sh*te exhausts you hear theses days - it definitely isn't an exhaust for chavs basically. Cost approx £350 + labour
  18. There seems to be far to much slack in my bonnet release cable since I got my C back from the garage (they've f*cked it basically). Looks like the cable needs tightening via the passenger side trumpet as you guys mentioned. Is it literally a case of loosening off the bolt on the passenger side trumpet and pulling the cable through to increase the tension, then tightening the bolt back up to lock the cable into position? Presume once this is done the bonnet release lever will then rest in its normal position under tension when not in use with the lever pointing towards the engine bay, instead of it pointing towards the driver as it is currently doing (not under tension)? Note: At present there is no excess cable sticking out the back of the passenger side trumpet at all due to the amount of slack in the cable (mechanic yanked the lever I suspect pulling all the tension out of the cable because the trumpet bolt has come loose).
  19. Just a quick update: Car sailed through MOT at Tuning Werkes, South Croydon after replacing Powerflow exhaust system with new Jetex type. My original PF system had to come out as it was damaged, hence why it was failing emissions. I really can say though that Tuning Werkes are a great garage! They're a considerate bunch and nothing is too much trouble. No issues with parts etc as well. Although, I'm pretty sure they broke my bonnet release lever / cabling somehow as the bonnet doesn't close properly now... one side keeps popping up! Strangely, I don't mind sorting this because they done a great job, the bonnet release was always a little dicky any way although it was working. For me, having a healthy relationship with a garage is an absolute must and I'll definitely be taking back car back to these guys.
  20. I've heard it's meant to be a pretty ****e design, gives me an excuse to go over the whole thing and 'improve' it any way ;) To be fair the lever has been playing up for a while, I've had to pump it a couple of times to release the bonnet
  21. Hi G60, I'd like to (and want to) but unfortunately they're convinced it was like that when I brought it in to them... of course it wasn't. I really wish they were just honest about it as they're a great garage. They're also fully booked now until Sat and i need to get it fixed asap. Like I said, only one side of bonnet is locking. Will try and have a butchers tonight
  22. I know the ones you mean, will check this out thanks Jim
  23. BOSCH blades on OEM arms sorted mine. Had this exact problem, changed the blades and now they work great!
