  1. Yep, it's moving a whopping 1.5 miles up the road.
  2. Sorry man, just seen this. Hard to say to be honest as we changed a lot of things at the same time. What I do know is that the car was faster after we made the changes and the front end definitely turned in better. Car is still for sale. Huge amount of car and fun for the money. Added a couple more pics to. Cheers.
  3. Updated with price change 17th November 2015.
  4. ** PRICE CHANGE ** For Sale - VW Corrado 1.8 20vT Race Car **PRICE CHANGE ** Many of you will know the car from TS Trackdays, SMRC Sports & Saloons and Super Lap Scotland. The car is fully race prepared and is ready to go racing with all the required safety equipment to MSA Blue Book standard. The car won Class C in Superlap Scotland in 2015 and finished a close 3rd in the King of the Hill Championship. Multiple class B1 winner in Scottish Sports & Saloon Championship. Highly competitive car, very easy to maintain, reliable and ideal for someone looking to get into track days, sprint events or Saloon Car racing and be competitive in class from day one. The car has been developed and maintained to a very high standard, with no expense spared. Words cannot describe the amount of time, research and money that’s gone into getting the car where it is today. The car was originally built in 2008 by JabbaSport as their Corrado G60 turbo demonstrator. I purchased the car in 2011 and first raced it in 2012. The car has been constantly developed and modified since then. In 2014 JabbaSport installed a new custom built 1.8 20v Turbo engine. The car is currently SORN but V5 available and could be returned to road use if required. An outline of the specification of the car is: Body 1991 VW Corrado G60 chassis External re-spray in Ford Arctic White in 2015 Custom Livery - wrap and vinyl - can be removed if required by new owner Sunroof delete Custom arches Lexan all round – except windscreen - vents in door windows LWS Design Lightweight bonnet with MkII Focus RS vents LWS Design Carbon Fibre tailgate Lightened doors Lightweight mirrors External pull cables for battery cut-off and fire-extinguisher Modified front bumper to improve air flow to engine and oil cooler Appx. 970kg wet weight. 5. Thanks guys. I know, but you know what it's like, call it a 4 year itch! I can assure you, this won't be my last Corrado project, but need a new challenge for the racing and the winters are very long up here so need something to get my teeth into!
  6. Well, I'm gutted to be saying this, but it's time to take on a new racing project so the Corrado is now for sale with a hefty spares and tyres package. I've had awesome fun building and racing the car and tears will be shed if she goes. The Panjo thing doesn't like me for some reason so here's a link to the for sale advert: http://trackscotland.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7999 Thanks to all who have helped out and taken an interest in what we've done, it's much appreciated. We'll be back with something else, hopefully equally as bonkers fast. Thanks!
  7. I had an issue with identifying the right Lambda recently, no part no's or anything to go with and a mix n'match engine & loom. These guys were very very helpful and sorted me out just in case you get stuck: http://www.lambdapower.co.uk
  8. Thanks! More than welcome if you can make it to any track days I do!
  9. Thanks mate. Calipers are CP5040-2/3's. Currently using Pagid RS4-2's. Work from the off well, very consistent but not quite got the bite or pedal feel of the PFC01's I used before. I wanted to try something different from the PFC's which were great pads but felt like bite came in two progressive stages, awesome stopping though.
  10. Cheers man! Yeah, hehe, they do come in quite handy! Those AP's keep really cool though.
  11. So, long overdue an update on this one. 2nd half of the season has been quite challenging. Quite a few wet races and I still don't have a solid wet set-up, really need to work on that. At our August race meeting it was clear something wasn't quite right. Cars I would normally keep pace with were getting away from me and the AFR's were looking a bit dodgy, very rich when on open loop. So, we started a diagnosis. Bought this neat wee kit off Ebay and hooked it up to the inlet to see what the pressure in the system was doing. Pressurising to 1 bar, the system couldn't hold any pressure. We could hear and feel two boost leaks, both coming from the inter-cooler. Damn, 30 mins later we had this: Also found a wee crack in the bottom of the radiator whilst we were at it. Both items are custom Pro Alloy Motorsport jobs so spoke to them the next day. It was clear I wasn't going to get new items in 7 days but they were incredibly helpful and agreed to do what they could. 4 days later a freshly welded radiator and inter-cooler arrived back allowing me to get to the end of the season and sort out new items after that. Got the car put back together on the Wednesday and headed out for a track session on Thursday to test. This allowed me to try a new camera angle on the splitter: So, September race meeting was the following sunday and rocked up delighted that we once again had BOOST! Then........ It was damp. Trying to get some heat into the tyres on the green flag lap I nailed it in 2nd to light them up. Some nasty noises began. I started race but quickly slowed as it was clear something wasn't right. After a long wait at the side of the track got back to the paddock and found that 2nd gear had gone taking the output shaft with it. Crap. This was not good as I had 6 days until the Superlap Scotland Final which I did not want to miss. So, no fecking about, got the box out of the car.... One of the advantages of having the engine mounts relocated is that we can get the box in and out without any clashes with sub-frame and the drive shafts can stay on too. 30 mins later we had it out. As you'll see, there was a nice chunk out of the casing where the "dog bone" mount attaches. Torque baby. No biggie, but another job I needed to get done. After a phone round the houses, finally found a really nice bunch of chaps at ASK Transmissions in Falkirk who were recommended by a racing buddy. They agreed to open the box and turn it round if they could. Now, earlier in the year I had bought a cheap CCM 02A box from a VR6. I had always wanted to try a longer 1st and 2nd gear so this was a good opportunity to try my gear swap. 48 hrs later, I had the box back in my possession, nicely welded and with my new 1st and 2nd gears in there. Total result and great service from ASK Transmissions. Box back in, wipe sweat from brow, prepare for the weekend. Sunday arrived, it was dry, WOOP WOOP! To celebrate, I stuck on the white wheels. Had some pretty stiff competition on the day. An Ultima GTR was running in my class and also a c. 470bhp Impreza and well as the Time Attack Astra and 997 Turbo. Ended up 2nd in Class for the final which gave me the overall Class C win and 3rd in the overall championship. Not bad for a 25 year old Beetle. Some pics from the day: Squeaky bum time at 130mph.... Final race meet is next Sunday, 4th October and than the winter plan will commence! Cheers for looking!
  12. Motorsport look = £80 wrap. Rust and durability I get, but GRP at a fraction of the cost would surely be a better option. Playing devils advocate, I have bought quite a few bits from LWS, really like their kit but wings are not the place I'd be forking out the big cash for. Just my 2p's worth.
  13. I really don't see the attraction of CF wings. If the originals weighed a tonne then maybe, but they don't, far from it. Do we know if LWS are gonna do a GRP version of these?
  14. Hi all, I need a new brake servo to replace my original Corrado G60 unit. I want a new unit but there is a 6 week order time on them. Are there any other options for me that are a direct replacement and can be used with original G60 master cylinder? Thanks.
  15. Likewise, you buying a faulty used a car with a Jabba chip in it doesn't really tell a full story. It's like all internet bull****, you only tend to hear about bad experiences and one side of the story at that. As you well know, Jabba have loads of experience with G60's and many happy customers as well as some disgruntled ones, like any tuning/garage business if you look at internet chat. They're still in business too..... Just offering a different opinion.
  16. Well, I'll buck the trend, I wouldn't go anywhere else but Jabba for my engine work. I spent a lot of money with them on my 1.8T build. It has been faultless to date and has had the **** kicked out of it.
  17. I wouldn't bother personally. All it adds is weight and more things to go wrong. I still fancy a RWD mid-engined space-frame Corrado, Harvey Rice would be my first point of call after the lottery win.
  18. Right, I've done a lot of testing of road legal track tyres so I will chip in my bit. Firstly, I'd recommend having two sets of wheels/tyres, one for road and one for track. If you can't do that and need to have one set for mostly road then avoid: Toyo 888 Kumho V70 Yoko A048 They are all great tyres and offer the best grip for road legal use but will get chewed up on the road (once you get enough heat into them) and if it does rain you will die, fact :) On the Corrado I have found Yoko AD08R (note the "R", slightly softer than the previous version) to be the best balance of grip, wear and dealing with rain. I can't believe I'm about to say this but don't overlook the Nakang NS2R, very decent tyre for the money. All of the above are more "grip" focused tyres so expect them to wear a tad quicker if mostly used on the road. If you're just looking for "the best branded road tyre" see other comments above I can;t help with that. My last 2p's worth, at 400bhp I have found the sweet spot for best grip in dry and wet is 205/40/17 or 215/40/17 on an 8 inch wheel. That is, when you can get the power down, as on anything less than slicks 1st and 2nd are practically useless and 3rd is dodgy on rough surfaces/in the wet when giving it large beans. Enjoy!
  19. It's not the same, but I have to say I love beating more modern high power Jap/Ford type stuff on the race track. 26 year old car, no ABS, no TC, solid rear beam, no active yaw control nonsense etc. They also spend more time with their bonnets open than closed which pleases me greatly :)
  20. I wouldn't get too bogged down in the "only adjust from the offside" thing. We have never done that on the race car, nor on any previous Corrado's. Eibach camber bolts are a solid, quick solution if you want more camber but you'll unlikely need them I'd have thought with a 100mm drop, adjustable top-mounts are another solution. Bear in mind with a 100mm drop the wishbone geometry will be miles out so even with well set up tracking it might not feel "as it should".
  21. Just go to a local specialist, they will know what to do. This thread has the OEM VW settings: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?49945-Camber-adjustment
  22. Hi mate, I have a single skin fibreglass bonnet I've never used. You would need to add some reinforcement though, very light and very flexible. PM me if of any interest.
  23. Cheers guys! Nah, no sponsorship, I'm the only sponsor! Wanted to get the car developed and hopefully start to win some things before going out with cap in hand. Livery I shamelessly pinched the idea from the Polo WRC as I thought it looked good. It's just a wrap so can be modified if I did pick up a main sponsor. Next SLS event is televised live on Motors TV in July and a couple of folk have suggested they'd like logo's on the car for that so will see if that develops into anything.
