1. Have decided to sell these. They are in very good condition having been restored to a high standard. The inner sections have been shot blasted and powder coated in light grey. The inners are Matt black and flaking a bit but don't show when fitted. The outer lips are in good condition and just need a good polish to come up very nicely. The tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1's with 6mm on two and 4mm on the other two with rim protectors, high quality rubber which does not come cheap. All four wheels have genuine BBS Silver centre caps. Looking for £350 but open to offers.
2. Cheers Hasan, had a look and connections look fine tbh. With the VSS fault code coming up do you think its most likely to be the sensor at fault? Have seen this on ebay which looks to be the one :http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120736484639?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 For £25 and a bit of time i figure its worth a shot... Having driven it with this problem for a while now it's 2-3 that's the issue, 1-2 and 3-4 are fine. I now have to give it everything to get it to change from 2-3. Also Stone, I think you might be right about the garage not being honest. Wiping the ATF dipstick on a tissue it's more of an off red/brown than a tizer red, i think they just topped it up a bit as you suggested and charged my mate £150 for the pleasure! Think i will replace sensor first, then change the ATF and if no joy after that will be looking for a nice low mileage manual box!!!
3. Thanks Stonejag, spolier seems to be OK and no problems with speedo but I would say it is becoming more erratic on the gear shifting and getting 'clunkier' too... Where is the auto box ecu located exactly? Will definitely have a good look tomorrow at the sensor and wiring.
4. Update! Finally got VAG COM done and it's coming up with Code: 281 Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) fault - is this located on the auto box?
5. Looking for a complete mechanism in good working order. Thanks.
6. Approaching Storm...
7. I think he only had it done because he was having issues with the auto box, that said I have all the history for the car from the original bill of sale and there is no reference of it ever having been done before. Had full VAG history up to 50k and has now done 90k. Would VW have changed it in the first 50k as part of the servicing plan do you reckon? I checked the ATF level when I got it and again last week when it started playing up, definitely not low, but I would say it is a dirty dark red from memory. Think i will see what VAGCOM has to say first and then change it depending, can't believe it needs doing again after 7 months and under 2k of driving :( Thanks for you advice mate, much appreciated.
8. Now you mention it Stone it does chug a little bit when coming off the power, it seems to always be looking to change down but reluctant to change up now matter how i am driving it. My mate who i bought it off said he had a few problems last year but when the fluid was changed back in November it was fine. I have had it since January and it's done under 2000 miles since then and it's been all good until last week, how long is ATF supposed to be god for?
9. Cheers guys, guess it's time for VAGCOM. fla i am in West London but the car is currently at my parents in Norwich as i was up there last week when the problem started so i decided to leave it there. Will get it back down soon and would be up for a vagcom session!
10. In the last week it seems as though my auto box is stuck in sport mode. It will only change up through the gears when i boot it, if i drive quietly it is very reluctant to move through the gears. Anyone had these issues? It had the fluid changed last November, am i right in thinking there is a control unit separate from the ecu? Any ideas appreciated.
11. I am also having the dreaded sunroof issues. Motor is fubar'd and when i try and open it manually with the allen key it only tilts on the drivers side properly, there is a massive scratch down the passenger side of the top panel, i presume this mean the cable/mechanism on the passenger side is knackered? Does anyone have the part number for the passenger side repair kit?
12. Just got quoted £53.05 per arm and £33.56 per blade from Robinsons in Norwich - STEALERS!!!
13. OK, am away all weekend but will take out controls next week and post pix, cheers mate.
14. Hasan, Followed you guide on replacing thermal fuse on resistor, still only got speed 4. Is this the next thing to look at, when i turn the dial between the speeds it feels quite loose, doesn't really 'click' on any of the speeds...
15. Do you have a part number for the motor fitted to Storm with diavia a/c please? Mine only works on speed 4
16. If the heater motor on a storm with the Diavia installed is only working on speed 4 what most likely needs replacing, is it the resistor or the motor itself? Thanks
17. Hi, I am still interested, are the control wheels you mention easily available? I go up and down the M11 most weekends so could swing by and pickup fairly easily.
18. Just had something similar today, battery was disconnected for a week or so, re-connected it, went out for half an hour drive and running fine. Nipped into a shop, came back and she just fired up and then died immediately. Was stuck for over an hour, kept on trying to start her with no joy. 2 hours later my old man turns up with a tow rope and she fires into life.... He was not happy!!! Does disconnecting the battery upset the ecu or is this immobiliser?
19. Are the control wheels easily available? Am interested if still available, could pick up Friday evening?
20. Hi can I take the VR Green Cotton filter - how much on postage? Thanks
21. Thanks for the input. They are FK springs i got from Venom. Think I will go with the best shortened dampers I can afford and see how I get on. I know VW spent a huge amount of time/money developing the suspension for the VR, but my rear ride height is pure comedy... It is a Storm on original (I think) shocks and springs with 98k on the clock so it's probably due a set of OEM replacements anyway. Anyone tried these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200735023487?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 just to bring the back down a touch?
22. Hi, am trying to sort ride height (on a budget) and have purchased some 40mm lowering springs, assuming will this be too much for standard length shock absorbers to deal with but didn't want to go down the cheap coilover route...Any suggestions for a good balance of stance and ride quality?
