Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!
biggerbigben replied to biggerbigben's topic in Members Gallery
Rolex, Thanks mate. I wish I could have it finished for Inters, but I don't have the time or the ££££ to finish it off in 13 days! Wait for Edition 38, it should be done by then! Only the interior needs finishing now, and a few bits and bobs... :D -
-
Fair play, I'm implementing custom bits for the rear so that I can have it totally adjustable to suit the occasion... track day or show.. hopefully that will work out ok..

That pic in the bottom right of my sig pic is quite low, the tyres are almost in line with bottom of the arch.. At that height there is a bit of camber there. x2 people I know that have 4wd corrado's (uk) had the same problem as me. One of them had 16" porsche splits and it was so bad that he has made a completely new rear subframe, the other guy has done similar. I am following suit.. If you have yours higher up then you will only have a little camber. I could see it ever so slightly from your pics, it takes a trained eye.. :? If Phat wants his low with wide wheels he is going to struggle, thats all I'm going to say about his car. Yours on the other hand will be fine if you keep it as it is. Also the lower you go the more the rear CV's are put in over drive as the drive shaft angle gets worse. If you fit 18's imo you won't get the best out of it on the track if thats what you intend to do... My 2 pence worth.. Ben

coolio...

still '0' miles...

yep :) Put the bumper on and see what it looks like, are you using standard 15" wheels?
-
Mate the rear beam can only fit in one place once mounted to the factory mounting points! My car is a bit lower than yours, in your pics I can see your car is sitting much higher than mine.. anyway doesn't matter too much any more... watch this space..! Well done both phat and coxy for doing a grand job anyway!

cheers guys, shouldn't take too long to finish it off inside.. Door cards need some attention and under trays and basically smart'ning it up. Got to find another seat from somewhere as well. Then off to the trimmers after Worthersee/Inters! -

Smoothing bumpers, and relocating front number plate
biggerbigben replied to mrbeige's topic in Exterior
yep, use a large soldering iron, cut some plastic out from another old bumper so its the same material. Use the soldering iron to get the piece of plastic you want to weld into place and do the best you can then cut up some strips of plastic and feed them into the joins with the soldering iron, then sand down and jobs a good'un! Its not too hard mate, I did my rear bumper towing eye, see my gallery for out come! Good luck.. not sure about the line at the top of the bumper, prob have to fill it a bit..? -

Time for an update I think, I've been working hard on the interior all weekend, put 24hrs in, in 2 days, completely knackered now!! Anyway I've fabricated some sides for the tunnel and begun to mould the rear of the tunnel to fit flush with the corrado rear bench armrest. Bear in mind that it all needs tidying up so it may not come across as being very neat! I've started to mould the passengers side under tray but as you can see its still in basic form. I made a mould for a new end to the dash on the passenger’s side. I also starting making the vents, which you can’t see as, they are hidden in between the 2 parts of the dash! I fitted and modified the standard TVR glove box in the middle, but need to fit the mk4 heater box behind to be sure it will clear ok.. Anyway more to come in a couple of weeks might get near to finishing the interior with another productive weekend like this one..! Leather has been bought and the trimmer is standing by (decided against doing it myself as I wanted a really good finish to complement the car and the 4 years work!) Here are a few pics… -
shouldn't be too difficult depending on which runners you use but thats coming from a nutter who has fitted a TVR dash in his corrado...

looking good Jay! Paul told me about your aircon pipes hitting the bottles etc, thats a shame.. you'll figure something out though.. I have been working on my interior today, left hand side of the tunnel is almost finished (down to the carpet), excluding under tray.. Anyway good luck for tomorrow! I'm going to be up early, need another 12hrs on it tomorrow to make any sort of progress! laters.. -
