similar problem, but with an aftermarket setup... in both rados

dunno why, but they sometimes go for crazy prices on our ebay... not to mention, they don't tell you everything... i've got one and still don't know why the fog light switch is two staged

LOL... this is great... now its turned from americans to europeans to east coast americans+europeans vs West coast americans... i'm east coast as well and have a rado with auto belts (well, down to just the driver side now) and a rado with the racing belts. yeah, there are still some idiots that i think are too lazy to put on the belts, but most of us nowaday are wearing them. Now that you brought up the west coast i'm worried tho. i'm driving my sister out to LA to live after Christmas... maybe i need to put the racing harness in her Jetta.... :lol:

okay, the pushing the button really hard would def not be the way to do it just b/c the relays sound when i push the button lightly and it doesn't matter if i use the drivers side or the pass side button for the pass window, it still doesn't work. what box are you talking about in the door area tho??

first, check the fuse above all of the relays on your fuse panel (it will be sitting all alone towards the middle)... if that is fine, then it may be your window control unit (listen for relay-clicking sound in the rear, drivers side area when you push the window buttom)... good luck and keep us updated

bump... still haven't been able to figure it out... checked all switches ans wires, nothing yet

since i got my rado, it has had a strange problem... sometimes when i go to start it, it just won't start... i hold they key in the start position and after like 7 seconds, it starts... also have an issue with the idle, its usually going b/t 300rpm and 2000 rpm... just bouncing back and forth. any ideas as to what i can try to do to fix either issue would be a great help. TIA

i just replaced the fuse and window control module in my car and now have control of my drivers side window, however my passenger window does nothing, i hear the click in the door and the window control mod whenever i press either switch (drivers or passengers side), but it will not move, does anyone have any suggestions?? TIA

same problem here... but mine is from the PO's wonderful wiring... i took it to a VW mechanic and he said that the window control module (rear drivers side area) is probably cooked... said that that one unit controls both the locks and the windows... so once i find one, i'll let u kno if it worked...

alright, i've messed with all the connections to the fader, the #3 fuse, and even took out the gauge cluster... and then tonite, it worx... kinda... about half way through my 20 min drive home, i hear a click and the int lights are gone, i wait like 20 seconds and click again, they're back on.. the click sounds like its coming from the upper area of the dash as well...

i really really like the look of the AC knobs as opposed to the sliders i have in my slc, i was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to switch the one out for the other and what the process would entail. TIA

yeah, i've scrolled the knob all the way up and all the way down... nothing, and the headlights themselves work. as far as fuses, which ones would be wise to check?? (don't have the fuse cover)

i brought my car to a mechanic to have the wiring fixed up. when i got it back, i had no gauge lights, no AC lights, no lighter light, and no lights for the headlight/foglight switches... can someone help so i can get back to driving at night again

hmmmmm, from what that page u posted looks like, its just adding on another gear, but keeping the same final ratio... i was hoping for something like i felt in the GTI where there was a seperate gear with a different ratio... (dunno, just don't like keeping the rado at 4k rmps at 80 mph)

i searched and found nothing, so now for the Q i test drove a newer Golf GTI with a vr6 in it that had a 6-speed tranny in it.. i was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to get a 6 speed in the rado's??

kewlness, thanx for the input.. the main reason i wanted a remote start is b/c of the convenience that it was when i had it in my last car. and you can wire the kill switch to anything... the clutch, the brake, heck, even the gas pedal. so i would have no fear of the security being comprimised in the car. and yes, i suppose i could get two seperate systems, i just don't want to have under the dash to be too cluttered with control boxes and such..

i want my new rado to be kept safe (esp now that i've pumped alot of money into the system)... so i'd like to get an alarm system that also has remote start and remote window control (as well as door and trunk control) does anyone know of a good kit or of at least a good brand to be getting?? TIA

i'm having a similar issue in that my wiper will only work when the lever is 'up' and doesn't auto return to the bottom of the windshield when turned off.. when i put the lever down, nothing happens at all. also, my left turn signal doesn't pop back into place when i finish a turn... can i get a link to this place?? TIA

I'm pulling from my old scort that had 6x9's in the back and 6.5" ones in the front doors... i'd like to be able to put them all in my rado Any ideas??

yeah, i took it into an authorized place and he is getting it all fixed up for me... as far as the steering wheel, i took it off and put some gear grease over the ring and have had no issues with the sound yet... thanx for the suggestions

FYI, i bought this car a little while ago and am getting to wehre i can put in a replacement system for the crap he had in there.. however, when i took off the door panels, i found that there was a little 4" speaker just sitting in the doors' speaker grill... not supported by anything, and the metal surrounds on the door look far wider then that size... my q is where the speakers are supposed to attach in the doors and what size they are supposed to be. TIA

Okay, to start, I've wanted this vehicle for years, i didn't care which year of the slc it was, it just had to be a corrado slc... so finally, i found one for right around $4k... so i got it (yeay!! cheers of applause and happiness fill my head) The guy who owned it knew little about wiring. the car has about 8-9 wires coming off of each terminal of the battery (yes it has a system, which is wired just as badly) and under the dash, there are dozens of wires that lead to nothing and are just hanging there. I'd love to get this thing back to stock (esp as far as the wiring goes) so that i can get stuff done right. He put a crappy little 'custom' box in the trunk with his amps and then a boxed sub (only thing that looks decent) and a 10-disc cd-changer in the back seat... i'll be ripping out all of this and replacing it once i get the basics working. okay, now for the fun stuff... the issues with it: (corrado pro's plz help) also, forgot to add that while i have wanted this car for years, i've never been able to do more then look at them on the net and drool, so i am totally unfamiliar with this car... i have the 4 inch thick factory repair guide, but still wouldn't mind it if you guys treat me like a newb (at least for this post) TIA 1. Power Windows/Locks Don't work - And when i tried to check the fuse panel i couldn't find what fuses would have caused this. also, the lights on the power window controls are still lit. As for the locks, i have to figure out what was done to them seeing as neither of the knobs are actually attached to anything in the door. and even when i lock the car from the outside, nothing else locks, only the door i lock does... 2. Windshield Wipers - The passenger side wiper doesn't move at all and the drivers side one moves like 6 inches and then goes back down... also, the control for the wipers will only work in the up position, if i move the control down, it does nothing. 3. No turn signal - I don't understand why, but the signals don't work at all.. inside or outside... and the cruise control (on the same stick) does work.. 4. Custom Steering wheel - there is a custome (i think its momo) wheel on the car and the steering shaft is obviously not the stock one.. there is like a little plastic accordian looking thing b/t the junction of the controls and the wheel itself.. however, whenever i move the wheel, it sounds like there is a massive amt of scraping going on right in that area 5. Speedometer Sticks - It is rare (from the one day i've been driving it) but it usually happens when i'm decelerating. the speedo will stick at a certain speed for a while and then suddenly adjust to the correct speed. its happened a few times when accelerating, but mostly just when slowing down. 6. A/C - well, it cools the air a little bit, i'm just wondering if i can use the stuff u buy at an autozone to fill it or if i need to get it converted over 7. Seatbelt Light - It never goes off, it doesn't matter if i have my lap belt on or not, its still lit and is annoying... (humph!) that's all that i can think of for tonite, so if anyone knows anything i can try or can check on, let me know... i'll be getting pix up soon of some of the issues.
