About a gazillion miles south in swansea, but welcome!

I think the 5k+ estimate is entirely plausable I'm afraid. Personally I'd stick to the VR6 engine rather than the turbo, I think it's the heart of the car and what gives is such personality - the muscle car grunt delivery. I accept a lighter turbo lump will probably drive better in the bends though. The R32 conversion sounds nice, but I'd always be thinking "why didn't I spend the extra on the R36" so to be honest I'd be looking at either end of the spectrum... The R36 I assume will come with the 2yr/20k service intervals too?? Really interested to know the costs and what you decide to do.

Read the title and thought it was a generic question. Was going to say (a) you crash and (b) you crash slower :)

If I do it I'll be getting the whole interior done including the door cards etc at somewhere like MJ's. I want to get the car into as near new condition as I can so even if I bought a leather set with cards etc, I'd still want a retrim. I think the welding of the subframes from my existing seats might be a great idea, os use the mounts as OSV mentioned. Either way the mounting is certainly do-able.

Definitely two sides to this story I think. They might not be millimetre perfect, but to be honest as you say portent, retrimmed in black leather they would fool me! I'm sure if the side bolsters were a touch bigger then a good trimmer would be able to reduce them slightly, and seal up the extending seat base squab for originality. My big concerns are around mounting them, but that custom mount might be the answer. I'm not slave to the originals in terms of comfort also, so happy for the OEM+++ style lol. My wheels are testiment to the "looks standard-ish" nature. I've seen these Fiesta seats as low as £100 per pair with sagged bolsters, but as I say I mainly want them as a basis for a new foam/trim seat. ---------- Post added at 04:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:52 PM ---------- Also would there be any issues with mounting the seat belt clips etc? Would I take my existing ones over and mount them?!?!?

Hi guys I've found a set of Recaro's local to me from an RS Turbo, and apart from not being electric or heated (which to be honest suits me) they look pretty much the same as the ones I see dotted all over this forum except they are around half the price. Can anyone confirm if they are the same model or not, and whether I'd need some kind of custom/fabricated mounts for them? I'm thinking whatever I buy I'd need to retrim the rears to match so I might as well get something as cheap as I can and trim the whole interior in one go, with the 'correct' corrado OEM Recaro stitching patterns etc. Here are a pic of the seats from a Fiesta RS and from a Corrado so you can see what I mean about them being very similar...

I'll be hitting 78k in the next few weeks I think.... -
You feeling ok? To quote Face Off "no more drugs for that man". Perhaps you could do it, but probably easier with a Rallye 4WD system or by doing down the Awesome GTi route of twin engines and twin front diffs to handle the power?

Took a good look at my old tyres today on the 15's and amazed I got by the MOT with them! They have cracks going right around the grooves and look like they have suffered with age as they are rock hard even when deflated they completely hold shape! Got to say car is running like a dream now with the wheels on, and I got a great compliment from a guy today when he said "Nice VR8 mate"... Big wheels = 2 extra cylinders!

Yeah, had a bit of a shocker last night though, the adjustable pin for the steering angle came out while driving. Just looking on here and my bentley manual for advice before I have a go at fixing it... I have a Weitec coilover kit ready to fit when I have the time and bravery, and I think once the kit is fitted along with the splitter it'll look pretty much finished from the outside. Here's a quick and dirty mock up... Next up for me will be my longer term plan to respray the car in flash or possibly the new VW salsa red and look to have get a recaro interior along with a retrim in leather. I've seen a ton of Ford Cosworth recaro seats online at a fraction of the VW costs and they look the same to me. Must be someone who makes a subframe to fit etc???
-
Also I don't know how but the car feels a lot lighter to drive now, maybe the old wheel weights were a bit off or something? Full lock is no problem as are bumps and the ride quality (unsurprisingly on the "stilts" setting). Also got my 50mm splitter to fit this weekend.

Wheels are on, but I REALLY need to fit the coilovers now...
-
I have one but the top piece of plastic that you rest your arm on is cracked. Yours if you need the rest though?
-
It's a tricky one. To be honest I think you might be better off looking for a 4-500 + swap deal on some standard seats and lowering the price?
-
Gutter man, it's an absolute peach!!! If you have any parts you wish to sell on let me know I'm in the market for an exhaust and always looking for extras ;)
-
Makes the headlights brighter, the standard lights are pretty rubbish. The wipers are best replaced with Lupo units as they give a better sweep etc too. Failing that just get used to driving and enjoying it :)

Have a look at these: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product_list/c_path/9_1215/spd/digital-media-receivers.html

It's like a time warp for me this... I sold my first VR for a 96 E36 Evo, estoril but with black vader leather. Went like stink, though preferred the feel of the Corrado and all these years later I have one again. If you love big power (and RWD fun) your going to seriously love it!!!! -
Not sure but it could be worth having a look here mate to see if any of the instructions for the immobilisers give any pics? http://www.clifford.com/Support/Guides.aspx

That white A3 with the Bentley wheels look stunning! -
Do you want it for CD or ipod or both? A lot of units these days are solid state media only. Brand wise I think they are all much of a muchness at the lower price points, but I've always run Clarion or Alpine in the car's I've modified. My old VR6 came with the original Sony and was ok too. I'd recommend another Clarion to people but the styling these days is simply awful. I think any of the major brands will suit your needs (Alpine, Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer etc). If you want super high sound quality have a listen to the latest Nakamichi decks, but they aren't cheap!

Hi Ben, it's a deal! Mine is in the same condition as yours, both just needing a bit of back to black. I'll PM you now... Pete.
