How much more "official" do you want :) Got mine insured as a classic with lancaster and its on a K plate (well it was until I put poncy personal plates on it! Unfortunately the governmnet withdrew the "Tax exempt" status a few years ago back in 1997 and decided to cap it at 1972. So if you have a car older than a 71 then youve got free tax for life, after then I'm afraid you get clobbered lik the rest of us! I remebered loads of mates with aircooled bugs, campers etc all eagerly rubbing their hands waiting for their cars 25th bday only to find out they had been p155ed on by the government! While I sat with a smug grin on my face behind the wheel of my tax exepmt 69 Cal look bug!

Its quit funny that clarksons old banger the SL55 AMG is heading to the seriously uncool section! Its an awesome car but me thinks that Jezzers ownership has damaged its coolability! :)

Cheers Kev, I must be loosing it in my old age, I used to be able to remove strip down and re-install a bug engine in an afternoon, now I struggle with editing a post! Pass me my zimmer frame (supercharged with NOS of course!) :-) I must admit when the funds allow, I will be parting company with the S3 for a 993! :wink:

Even rarer too one with a working sunroof and a working rear spoiler! :?

What do you need to know bud as I have both and drive them reqularly?? As everyone has said they are completely different cars, the S3 is quick and is more snappy than the C, partly due to the 4wd and the 1.8 engine. However there is no substitue for the sound and pulling poer of that 2.9 VR6 lump on full song. I would say its horses for courses, both have their good and bad points but I wouldnt get rid of eiter of them.

I think the one you mean used to belong to a mate of mine who like me has been into his dubs for years. He used to work for Pirelli's in Eastleigh and had a white Mk2 GTi beofre his blackberry VR.....Hopefuly mystery solved :)

Try Lancaster theyre really good, know what theyre talking about too as they are classic and unusual car specialists. Will do the Agreed value, recovery, limited mileage etc etc etc Ive been with various company's over the years and so far they definately offer the best package at the best price!

I was thinkin more the whole german animosity thing... does anyone remember a german/england football match years ago , not sure whether it was world cup or what but a VW(or audi) got trashed after the game cos it was german....harsh! :roll: After Ze Germans dumped the English out of Euro 96 on penalties ( :lol: ) a Russian student got beaten to a pulp by some England fans because he "looked German". I was working as a bar manager at the time of that match and we had everyone in the pub, I was more worried about my Bright Red Mk2 golf parked out the back with DEUTCHCAR written across the back window in big white letters! :roll:

Someone did try to halfinch mine once as they had pull one side and started to loosen it, I obviously got back to the car in the nick of time! :mad: Ive got the Autohaus Wolfsburg Hotz und Heitman ones on the S3 at the mo. And before anyone says anything theyve been passed down the generations of german metal ive owned and as the Campaign has the orignal Stealer plates they got donated to the Audi evn though theyre not strictly true I like em. :D

Im just trying to find a trimmer who is good enough to let me trust them with the Campaign.... :scratch: When I do and I get the quotes off them I will let you know as they will be retrimming the dash and a few interior bits. You may well be ok but the problem I have found with the Campaign is that where the leather was Died Specifically for the 6 cars there is no match anywhere that comes close! I have therefore got to have at least 2 hides specially died to match the existing interior........thats over £300 per hide before Ive even started! :roll:
