  1. yeah the ignition is definitely spot on now. The problem is that I paid £2k for the work to be done. He has guaranteed the work for 60k miles. I have only done 4k in it. The thing is, i dont want this guy to get away with taking my money and then palming me off to someone else when he should of done the job properly first time round. The intercooler looks physically fine. Thatsa why I cant understanf he is blaming it on that. I guess that why people take their car to specialists. I could have a nice vr6 with the money Im throwing at that car.
  2. The only way i can descride it is that the car doesnt have any boost at all. I like its not turbocharged. The guy who owns the garage is a complete ****** so I would believe a single word that comes out of his mouth.
  3. Hi all, I was wondering if it is actually possible to break an intercooler without physically breaking it? The reason I ask is I have a MR2 turbo as well as my corrado and made the massive mistake of giving it to a horrible local garage to have the engine and turbo rebuild. I got it brake and the ignition timing was out. Then got it back after sorting that problem and blew the weak head gasket they had put in it. Now im convinced the turbo has gone as it doesnt spool up anymore. The guy at the garage said that its not the turbo, the intercooler has gone. Is that even possible? Im really not that upto scratch with FI cars so any help will be much appreciated. (no hairdresser jokes please, ha ha.)
  4. Tom (bananawhip) was running his aqua blue vr that day. doing about 15 sec. My corrado was sitting in the visitors car looking sorry for itself :( Corrado forum should have a car area there.

    Oettinger?????

hmmm, I need to do some serious searching. Look wise the engine bay is indentical to the normal one. I am going to speak to scotts and see if they can find any history on it. I will also post some engine bay photos to see if I have missed anything that you guys might recognise.

    Oettinger?????

If you can find that out a would be in your debt. Its quite exciting when something like this shows up on your car.

    Oettinger?????

boost monkey, you are star. Thanks for the translation. The engine looks physically identical apart from the exhaust manifold. Me and my friend tom (bananawhip) are thinking that there are some dif cams.

    Oettinger?????

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After reading that thread alarm bells are going off in my head. 90% of the service history in my book is a Scotts in London! Anyone with any other info please post!

    Oettinger?????

Well strangely it its quite gutless it at the bottom end.............. but 4k plus it has a surge followed by a second kick just over 5k. Very weird? I'm thinking that there might be some performance cams sitting under the rocker cover.
  10. Thanks for the thread Dirtytorque :)

    Oettinger?????

Hi all, Hoping someone will be able to shed some light on a few secrets my car seems to be keeping from me. I have popped a photo below of a sticker I have on the bonnet in the engine bay labelled Oettinger. Does anyone recognise this label and more importantly what the hell it means? :confused4: When I bought the car it seemed completely originally (appart from some rubbish ripspeed wheels) But on closer inspection there is a 4 branch manifold?!?! Kind of a weird mod seeing as it still had the original exhaust system. Any ideas will be more than welcome. Would love to shed some light on this....
  12. Hello Guys, Really sorry to dum down things from the last couple of pages. But its come to the time where my current 16v engine will need a rebuild. I would love to go FI. So my question is what kind of power could a rebuild standard engine cope with? With just the bare essentials changed (spacer gasket etc). I will be honest im not looking for silly power gains but enough to put a VR to shame. Also does put FI on a 16v seriously shorten the life of the engine? Thanks Mike
  13. I heard the 50mm inlet gives you a little more poke at the top of the rev range. I am gonna look at the open 2L would be a good way to go.
  14. Hi David, Thanks for the advise. Yes it is the KR (should of said before) I see you have done alot of work on yours. I was thinking a port and polish would be a good option. Have you notice a huge difference with the changes you have made? I may just go the route of having the current head rebuilt as I'm not particularly interested in performance gains. I just want the engine to run smootly with no oil burning. Mike
  15. Hello all, My 16v is burning oil now and I think it is time to look at having the valve guides sorted. I have been looking in the search and it looks like there maybe a couple of other options available to me. I have heard people talk about using a 6A from an audi instead of a 9A. I have to admit that I'm not in it for power gains. So I'm more interested in which option will work better for MPG and ride. Also I wouldnt mind a bit more torgue if its at all effected. I'm open to all suggestion, not just the above. Also if there is anything that you think is vital to do or change at the same time please let me know. That you everyone for you help. Mike
  16. That ad did catch my eye. Gotta say that the best golf ad was the 'singing in the rain' one.
  17. Hello Andy, If you havent touched the boss it can only be to things really. I think it will either be that its not earthed well enough or the horn isnt working. Mike

    Erratic revs

Hi Dic, In the past I have had probs like this on my golf mk2s. so prob same on the corrado. It was the idle control valve. But on a chrylser I wouldnt have a clue! Good luck though. Mike
  19. Hello Guys, Saw this thread whilst searching and it sound like the same problem im having with mine currently. All the ign comps have been changed along with new fuel pump and filter. Still exactly the same problem. The car is turning over and will finally start after some kicking and screaming. This morning though it wouldnt start so im gonna give it a good kicking tonight and see if that works.
  20. wow compared to the list above, i took the easy route. My lowering consists of lowering springs from GSF and my mates garage to change them in. I didnt even change the bumper stops!!!! oops
  21. yeah i work alot of 6 days a week and unfortunately my C is my everyday car.
  22. Hi all. Thank you for all the replies on this. The photos have really helped me make my decision. Did it all in one 7 hours. Prob could of done with letting the laquer set for a little longer. Anyway, what do you guys think?
  23. here are some pictures of the exhaust. fits really well and sounds nice too. soory the pic are dark.
  24. Yeah, will do. It has just arrived today. I will keep you posted. The bore does look alot larger than the standard set up.
