  1. Jezz! 3 years since I posted on this section?!!! 'Bit' of an update then. Well I've always been lurking on here and always with corrados, 3 at the moment...all off the road.... :epicfail:  Still have MJI 3995 but under a sheet outside :( one day when all the corrado parts are FULLY obsolete, I will fully restore her! Had a charged vr6 (ex Tom Ingrams) which I later sold on to my mate - kris669 off here. Still got the 3 litre which still sits in garage after engine wiring loom going up in smoke. And with all this ive been 'just_say_meths' agony uncle through his G60 project which he will be revealing soon, just a shame ive never had the time to manually help out! Still have my TT which I replaced my Mk4 Golf with. I had a wee play with bentleys, white vinyl wrap and spending every spare minute transforming the black leather to satin red! She'll be up for sale soon though. But to the new beast! To everyone thats knows me will know that what started off as a bit of a pipedream, that then went onto an ambition, eventually a target is now finally.............reality! Only had the car just under 2 months but even with limited driving (thanks to the weather) I'm still buzzing, smiling and having the odd chuckle to myself ( no not lost the plot just yet! ) at the power delivery which makes the hard graft and saving up all worth the while. Three years ago after a year into business I set a target, a target for a car I've always dreamed about and above all make it happen! As those who are self employed know that your business is not a job, its a way of life, and it takes up 95% of it, so at times a target keeps you on track and makes you remind yourself why your doing it when your having one of those bad days! Like most die hard dubbers you always have a soft spot for the Stuttgart machine's. A 911 Turbo for me was always the one, mainly a 993! At the time they were in my price range....but the world of the aircooled porsche second hand market can have its weird and wonderful ways and today they are now approx 7 - 10K more than they were back then! A dated interior and not the most daily of supercars swayed me off also. So what would offer good looks, reliablity, and be a good practical daily with also having that bonkers performance of the 911 for my specific budget? In my opinion it had to be the 996 Turbo. Long story short, plans were to buy a standard 'best I could afford' manual 996T in black, yellow or grey. I purchased coilovers that were once on this car, previous owner gave me excellent buying and tuning advice then around 1 month later asked if I was interested in buying his very own car. Way over my budget, but with over 25k been thrown at her, excellent history and alot of the mods I was going to carry out already ticked off, it was hard to say no! Rough Spec is as follows: GT2 Front Bumper Mashaw GT2 Rear Spoiler 6pot 375mm Front brakes + Rear brakes 19" BBS LM's GT2 K24 turbos with the Bell cored coolers and Forge divertor valves SFS boost hoses and F pipe Miltek exhaust and manifolds Remapped 997 GT3 short shift GT3 roll bars Adjustable rosejointed drop links front and rear Adjustable Camber Arms Moton Clubsports with uprated topmounts. Looking forward to a track day once I get the hang of the engine and drive coming from the rear, hard to get your head round when you have been used to it all from the front! Really interested for a rolling road too, should hopefully be between 500bhp - 550 bhp. Sorry for the very poor Iphone pics. Planning a few road trips so more photos to follow in up coming months. Cheers

    ATE Brakes

As above, I have an ATE big brake kit fitted to my Mk4 Golf, I bought the car with them fitted with no paperwork/receipts. Does anyone know who is the official suppler in Britain? As im requiring a pair of front brake pads. Googled them and it seems they are a German company with various foreign offices. Have tried Richard at Venom an no can do but has been very helpful. Number on the pad is 1123625 if this is of any help and I have a traced outline of the brake pad also which could be faxed/emailed. TIA Michael
  5. B****r! Thats disappointing, is it still worth a stop on route? You dont know the contacts Jim?! ;)
  6. Planning a European trip with a mate, leave this sunday. So getting Ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam as we have done in the past, we are heading to Hanover, to get a night there before Wolfsburg factory, etc. We are passing Osnabruck so wonder if there is anything for the Karmann factory/musuem, I know a few of you were there a few years ago? Any info on this at all? Also any input on road trip also? After Wolfsburg back to the ring for third time so dont plan to do too much there apart from the obvious, then Stuttgart for Porsche musuem. Next onto Strassburg ( Bugatti musuem/factory around here??? ) then onto Nancy - dont know why exactly? Reim GP circuit, Spa circuit to take in before heading to Brussels/Rottardam via return ferry at Amsterdam. Cant stretch too far off the above as 1 week and car were using is a Supercharged RR, yep thats right, 300miles to £110 of fuel, nuts...yes, but what a vehicle to take it all in! 8) Thanks!
  7. Knew I was right!!! Looks stunning mate! 8)

    Creative FX

£1800?? Totally Dynamic wrapped my TT white for £850 and its a good job! Edit: heres some pics, no joining lines visable either.
  9. 8) Some good info here, me and my mate were planning a european trip last summer but unfortunately the TT's reliability wasnt filling me with confidence and work took over. Has to be done in the corrado though, but theres always that feeling of breaking down which I only know too well. Ring trip num:2
  10. Sounds interesting.........I think the wheels are compomotives as found on Delta Intergrales!
  11. wow looks good, did your parents send those headlights for you? Get more pics up mate
  12. yes 996 c4s is my new toy had it about 5 months and put about 3K on it over the summer it won't be used much over the winter , but i think the point that i was trying to make is the porsche cost 30 x as much as i sold the corrado for but the smile on my face isn't 30 x as wide , don't get me wrong the porsche is a monster of a dream car but the corrado is not that far away Rob Rob how are you finding the running costs and any nasty parts bills as of yet? did you look into 993s at all? Ive still got corrado Vr6's in my life but now my daily is a 225 TT, cracking car imo, love it! Seems like a modern corrado to me, def needs a remap as corrado feels quicker but overall the TT is an excellent buy for 5-6K. I have shaked the old modding stick at it but the Interior and dash is amazing, cracking timeless design (mk2 TT design i am not a fan of ) quattro and possible 260-270bhp and that audi build quality which made my last mk4 GTi seem a bit cheap. In saying this I drove my ex s/charged Corrado (mates now got it) and i shared the driving down to players show with him, 2 weeks previously i drove the TT down to E38 show and I felt more at home in the corrado, far more comfort, could of driven all day and all night, you just cant beat that driving posisition. After the TT theres nothing else id really want, B5/B7 RS4 or 996 however if funds dont allow I could see the an R32 Corrado getting snapped up or built should I ever find time. Going to be an interesting thread this. 8)
  13. Jeez it's just a VR with a badge!  No Dog guard will stop a Russell, get a cage! Yeah Andy sell the storm and buy a corrado if your putting a dog in the boot!
  14. Nice! RC's in anthracite will look really good against the green.................but ill give these wheels say what? 3 months???
  15. Looking good bruce! Now get the goodies I sold you on it pronto! 8)
  16. amen to that, you've hit the nail on the head Jim, as soon as your 30-45 mins away the roads and scenery start to change, and you start getting more excited, then you end up passing a few nice cars on the way then BANG your there, and everone with you turns into little school kids pointing at this car and the next, and this is still before entering into the car park at the track!!! Photos look really good, the corrado is the perfect VAG car to take to the ring, comfy on the autobahns and perfect for the ring. Your mini sounds mad though! 8)
  17. Well ive managed to get the whole engine loom out, major bad news, as you can tell from the pics its burnt out, but to get the main plug apart meant prising it apart, the heat had melted the plastic, so major bad news part 2, the fuse box side of loom is fine, however the plug/connector has melted? So what are the options, remove dashboard and follow it all the way through engine bay, bulkhead or what are the opinions on a good sparky being able to replace the plug? as after all thats the only damaga from what I can see? ENGINE WIRING LOOM PLUG FROM THE FUSEBOX TO THE ENGINE 1 word....Gutted! :(
  18. Still a good read, why were the cars locked up though? Im sure I read somethings to do with World War 2, however some of those cars are post war time?
  19. Guys you should all have a read of this: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=83401&p=964878#p964878 Be good to get all the scottish corrados together? Please get your name down to try and get a corrado stand on the go. Cheers 8)
  20. Ditto with the wheel situation, ill be running 15s with 288mm setup as with the weight and power ill be running they should be fine, as i get better at using the car and more confident i may feel the need to upgrade, which i can do at a later date......Unless...i see a setup for a bargain price and i cant resist  For plastic/carbon bits try http://www.performance-trim.com/index.html Yeah dont remind me, I was very close to buying a full carbon corrado bonnet from performance trim at Ultimate Dubs, went a way for 2 mins to have a think and it went in that time, I was gutted! :censored:
  21. Im so glad this post has arisen, As im in the same process with the 3litre corrado I have currently. Good winter project for next year I hope. I was going to run 15s with a good 288mm set up as in better brake fluid, uprated discs, pads, lines, etc, etc but it seems reading a few posts this isnt good enough? Im not a fan of running 16s for a 312mm conversion as the tyres are too expensive, and for me 17s ruin handling so I cant believe 18s have been mentioned?!!!! I totally understand that brakes and handling are very important, but 18s to fit big brakes is all well but surely that ruins the handling? Also does anyone know of any firms that do fibreglass panels for the corrado? Also I noticed Steering racks being mentioned, I think my rack is on the way out, what non adjustable rack would work and how would you know that this'd be suited to yourself before fitting??? Cheers
  22. That was the 1st plan for tonight, take the the engine loom off my old raddo and see what happens, but yeah im praying no damage has been done to the other side of the loom or i am well in deep horse sh!t. Water ingress you say? hmm thats strange becasue the old aux water pump was leaking real badly, new aux water pump seems bone dry............ :?
  23. Ok the cars has sometimes been running a little lumpy last couple of months, like only firing on 4 or 5 cylinders, but then it would clear and be all back to normal, I had put it down to plugs, leads, coilpack, as usual time is never on my side so it was on the 'to - do' list. However last week she has been running like a dream every day. Coming from work today with my old man, the car ran really rough, worse than before, pulled into the drive of my folks house (just happened thankfully) and alot of white smoke came out of the bonnet, opened the bonnet to find this! Now I had replaced the aux water pump 3 months ago, but this was no problem in removing and fitting, a few wires have melted by the looks of things, so looks like a that side ( i hope ) of the loom needs replaced. Or could it be water leaking into the wires??? I let her cool down and tryed to see what it could be, i turned the igniton on and the immobliser wouldnt switch off to allow the car to fire up, then the weirdest noice came from around the area, it looked like it was coming from the abs pump but it was actually closer the the engine, it was a high pitched rumbling noise??? By this time I was completely and utterly lost! Now I know my basics but this im stuck on, what has happened to cause this, and what this noise? Recently the oil and temp gauges stopped working, could be linked? I have my old spare raddo for parts so I will try and use the loom that goes to the throttle body, coilpack, etc Thanks in advance.......and for now corrado off the road. :(
  24. GSF and Euro car parts are only a fiver cheaper? My mate is breaking a mk3 golf Vr6, will they be the same???
