Paint stripping, DIY or leave it to the experts?
dazzyvr6 replied to Linus Van Pelt's topic in Suppliers Forum
why would the want to remove all the old red paint?unless its in a really bad way, they would normally just give it a quick rub down, primer it then spray it in your colour -
thats why i said best to get someone to hold the drive shaft while you tap it off,no need to use a big hamer, you only need to tap it off
-
leave the drive shaft on the car, best get someone to hold the drive shaft while you tap the cv joint off

its pretty easy, and you got the splitter so thats a start, the ball joint itself is only held on by 3 13mm bolts, but on mine 2 of the bolts snapped to i had to replace the clamping plate, the part no.is 1HO407365 and they cost £15+vat each
-
think they are called speed clips, and you can get the from somewhere like halfords :)
-
also check that the 5th injector/cold start valve is working
-
well if you said that yours were knackred in the first place then i/we would of understood your question better :) ,first of all are the clocks the same style as yours?what year/model is your car,the reason i ask is because on my car there is no speedo cable just a wire block, dont know if its the same as a 16v or g60.. to remove your clocks first remove the surround(4 screws) then you will see 2 screws near the top of the dials, remoce them and the clock will fall forward, then just unclip the speedo cable(if its got one)then the wiring block and the vacum pipe then just lift it from the cradle
-
so whats your problem then exactly??just take them off and put them on yours
-
i just use my etka :D
-
nice one phatvr6,btw your mk2 was one of my favourites, stick some pics on here to show everyone your last creation :D

alright chris,i also found vw just stick anything on,whilst taking my door cards off i noticed they used a mixture of phillips head screws and just one torque type screw and it just happend to be in the most difficult to get out place :?
-
first of all check the wires,if they look fine the the stereo unit it shot
