  1. If the drill bits are cobolt ones use a slow speed, or they may shatter!
  2. 1990 16v with 160,910miles - no worries! 8)
  3. The other prob with using hifi speakers in a car is that they're not designed to cope with the extremes of temperature and humidity that occur
  4. a nice backside makes all the difference
  5. loom and bulbs definately the way forward 8)
  6. Supercharged, thanks for that, saving worked a treat, had the gist of most of that already but always handy to have as a reference. GIXXERUK, I think I'll just buy the screen wash from VAG without the service thanks, cheers for pricing it up

  10. look like the ones i got in Halfords, don't recall the name as Astrali though, maybe Halfords could help?
  11. No, i wouldn't use them again either, as years before, (when i had a renault19 1.4 energy! first car!)they managed to smash my speedo cable changing the clutch, and then helpfully point it out as a fault they had encountered during the course of their quality grafting. C@nts
  12. Supercharged, you mentioned on the aero wiper thread awhile back that concentrate mixture is important to stop the lupo blades from chattering, and then didn't share the info  , as i now have lupo blades what mixture ratio do you use for the summer then? Don't keep it a secret!! :)
  13. venom do vipertech kits in 30,40 & 60mm drops i recall as well as more expensive stuff!!!!!!!
  14. tell the tw@ts( i won't be using ever again) that i got to change my clutch a few years ago, they managed to jam the fan switch on the wrong way round which meant the first time i caned it the fan came on blowing rather than sucking and basical stopped any flow through the rad. Top coolant temp of 120c, oil at 134c  stood infront of the car to pop the bonnet with hot air blowing on my legs and i sussed it pretty quick! mess everywhere, but no lasting damage luckily  could have bust the headgasket real good!

    Idle too high!

my 16v has done this since i put a webber redline porsche 924 throttle body on it. it's intermittent and partly due (i think!) to a weaker spring and having to run the throttle cable to operate in an anti-clockwise direction so the run is slightly different. Also it stuck at 2500rpm on tuesday, so maybe after 160k i could treat my motor to a new cable, a quick blip sorts it but i'm getting pissed off with having to do it as i pull up at traffic lights and junctions cos all the nova and corsa boys start getting twitchy  Don't know how much a new cable is?
  16. If you pull up and down on the fan, looking at it as it was fitted, you'll probably find it's got axial play, ie along the line of the spindle. A temporary fix is to give it some percusion adjustment, ie hit it! :) . The aim being to reseat the plastic fan bit on it's spindle. When i say temporary it lasted at least a couple of years, needs another tap again now, it's started squeaking when i brake, that's how it started last time  Just got to get off my arse  !
  17. Personally if the car is that good why not just keep it? you know all it's history and everything is sorted now, if you do sell it you might end up buying another that bites you in the arse. I'd keep and enjoy it for what it is, a fast mint little Vee dub! 8)
  18. Yes, I'd happily kill the f$%king lot of them, Cnuts
  19. sorry, can't help, not got VR6 experience, but it can't be helping things surely?
  20. I can't see it either. and then it appeared as if by magic
  21. Insert key in the ignition, drill a 3mm hole, in line with the key, 12mm from the edge of the alloy housing nearest the key, "until stop spring of lock cylinder is visible, approx 3mm deep". then compress stop spring with a punch or similar and pull out lock cylinder with key. quoted from Bentley 48.5 hope this helps, better late than never.
