  1. Oooh. The 1 near the headlight switch is 357 957 087 and I can get that easy enough (found out it's shared with mk3 polo) The other one is 535 957 087 ... and that's where I'm really struggling!
  2. Did the dash blank go? If not, PM me your paypal and I'll have it. Cheers.
  3. I'm after the rectangular blank left of the headlight switch and the rectangular blank below the fogs/rear window switch. These are for a late (94) car. Need to be in good condition (not scuffed or drilled) Both mine have fallen victim to alarm light/switch/whatever and have 1/4" holes hacked nearly in the middle. Let me know if you've got any. Cheers!
  4. you might wangle an underseat sub into the centre console. (just a thought - never tried it) I've got it in my head that a couple of people have fitted them in the hump of the rear seats (assuming you have one).
  5. I'm probably preaching to the choir, but I'd look at wires in the front doors 1st. Expect to find breaks in the cables between the doors and the pillars.
  6. Another +1 for the SGS... I bought one last summer. I kept 1/2 the handle off my (also historic Halfords effort) old jack to double the length of the SGS's VERY short handle. Being able to swivel the handle's a fantastic thing in a tight garage/driveway near the hedge etc!
  7. replied. Pics of the other 3 tread depths for you (a smidge blurry in the artificial light, but you get the idea!: Edit: Collected today. Cheers
  8. Hoping the low price gets them out of my music room soon(!) Bobby: No problem. You have dibs. Let me know.
  9. These came on a set of wheels. I popped them on the car to make sure there were no issues, before having them removed in favour of some more "season-friendly" rain tyres. Not the grippiest in the cold weather, but certainly not as bad as some(!) All 4 have even wear, no repairs, no chunks missing etc etc. Ideal for "MOT" wheels, summer toy, stopgap, get a sale on a set of wheels or just run them on your daily... Specs are. "Dayton" brand. 195 50 15 (82 V) I'm after £40 (cash or paypal) collected from Coalville LE67. (easy for M1/A42, or I'll be over Lincoln way on Saturday with the mk2 guys, so could meet up for a "nailed on" buyer)
  10. Hey! Small world, long time and all that! My 'rocco went a few years back in favour of a B4 passat, and we got hold of a 2L 8V 'rado earlier this year. Yours is looking good!
  11. You should be able to (slow!) charge your battery through the lighter socket if you've got a plug lying around. Trim the plastic cable outer back a bit till you can get to the metal core, then as above, pliers (or mole grips) and assistant pushing down on the front should get it open. I think the S shaped bit on the end that's tumbled off yours is only meant to be crimped on - should be possible to do again with a bit of ingenuity!
  12. If it's staying at that height, I'd say 15"s, but not those 15"s - I'd go OEM and pick up a set of sebrings or estorils. If it's going lower, the 16"s'll be spot on. (ours is on 40mm APEX springs/bilstein shocks and Seat sheriff star 16"s with 195 45 16, but it's HARD... Handling's lovely though!)
  13. Jenolite changed (for the worse!) a few years ago... Like JC, my Dad always had great results, but the modern stuff's just not the same. We've started using Bilt Hamber's products instead, which seem to do what Jenolite used to do. A lot of the classic car guys rate the POR 15 stuff too (I've never tried it) I'm also a fan of Corroless "rust stabilising primer" ... That really works too. (though I use a twist knot brush 1st to get rid of heavy rusting)

    Brakes

I'd add that it was optional on GLs too (my B4 TDI GL certainly doesn't have ABS)
  15. Whether it's the bases, or the seats themselves, corrado ones go lower than the scirocco ones.
  16. No worries. Vagcat is a VERY useful site - all the part numbers and diagrams are on there... it's free too... just a forum to sign up to.
  17. 1 end of the clip that retains the cable outer kind-of hangs down - pull that (away from the cable) and it'll flick off. (a magnet can be handy when you find it's lost forever) They're not the most obvious of clips to use, so make a mental note of how they re-attach before you're lying upside down in the footwell swearing at them(!)
  18. It's possible that the mountings for the cables have broken on the back of the control panel, meaning that the controls don't even try to move the flaps in the distribution box... I've epoxied and cable tied a couple together in the passat with good results(!) These diagrams from vagcat should give you an idea of what you have/what's missing! 19. A standard setup working properly has PLENTY of blow, certainly not "asthmatic through straw" ... If you can hear the fan working on all speeds, the fan's fine. Next, check the foliage guard in the plenum chamber isn't full of leaves etc. (do these have pollen filters? I forget! - if so, that's where it is, and if blocked, the air flow is reduced) The next thing is a pig of a job - the flaps inside the heater air distribution box... Easy to do when you get to it, but a dash out job. ... Upshot is they're galvanised steel flaps with big holes punched in them. From the factory, these were covered in foam - the foam breaks down, ejecting itself through the dash vents, leaving big holes in the flaps and low air pressure through the vents, as it's unable to "switch" between hot/cold and the various positions. As for "upgrading" to later heater controls - they're a MUCH weaker design than the slider type, and have a huge price premium as they're corrado (and B4 passat) specific (mk3 golf/6n polo look the same, but are different!) and prone to breakage. ... We have a mk1 and a mk2 golf, both with excellent slider controls, and a late corrado and B4 passat, both of which have required bodge repairs to get the controls working. Upshot is that for me, I'd get the standard setup working and leave the slider controls in!
  20. I saw your location, but have no real idea how things are over there(!) Anyway... These guys are near me - I've never dealt with them myself, but a neighbour (ex truck mechanic) speaks highly of them: Item name: Heather Radiator Services Street address: 1 Main Street, Heather Postcode: LE67 2QP Town or Suburb: Coalville (Leicestershire) Country or region: Leicestershire GPS coordinates: Telephone(s): 01530 262 494 Fax: 01530 262 494 I can't easily find a website for them ( no surprise - it's a small old fashioned place!)
  21. Possibilities: Catch mechanism needs lubricating, or has grease on it that's gone solid. (clean old grease off with gunk, or WD40 etc, and apply white spray grease) Stretched cable. Loose release handle. Misaligned catch. I suppose the bonnet could be a bit wonky on the hinges - but if it lines up with the wings and the panel gaps are right, then it is right.
  22. I'd expect a radiator place would do it. If you can't find one, ask your local motor factors - they tend to know who does what!
  23. ^looks nice! No,the mk1's off the road for the winter - I've not really been on the mk1 forum much recently... Pretty much just use it for the local meets bit!
  24. Hey! Yep - That's me. Good work getting your bro a corrado. Any pictures up yet?
  25. A little while ago, I was reading on one of the audio forums about fake Hertz speakers on ebay etc... Not the obvious item to expect to find fakes of, so may be worth being a bit wary!
