  2. Nice work there...Is it worth getting some Battery Acid Absorbing Mat. I have seen them in Halfords before.

I don't know not seen them before, what acctually causes a battery to leak in the first place.

I'm just loving that I purchased the car with 12mths test, and this was the battery tray.... I'm happy this had been the only major issue to correct.

  3. Been looking at a route earlier today just gonna double check Helmsley parking then we are good to go. BBQ might be a bit cold option. I Dunno, later in the year if its warmer maybe, I have a cracker and it fits into a VW Boot.

Future events could Inc a BBQ. Might have 10 or 12cars for this outing. Mint or what,!

  4. Hi guys,

Thought I'd put this as a mini build thread, it also shows how much damage a battery can do to the tray with just a little acid.

I purchased the car last month and I've been very happy as the car had been garaged for most of its life and looked after with a lot of vw dealer receipts, even for tyres from dealer. the car was let down only really by a previously leaked battery. As a secure battery is a must for MOT it's an unavoidable job.

As seen in the picture I had previously treated the area to protect the rust setting in with a little grey rust spray, then using a angle grinder separate sections were cut away, and some galvanised sheet cut to the separate sections after a little shaping in a vice. We spot welded each sheet on a corner and pushed, shaped to fit each of the areas using a Mig welder. The last small job was to drill a new fixing and welding a large nut onto a newly drilled hole for a battery clap seemed the best option.

It's a very nice and neat job and I'm so happy the damage was only to the to area of the battery tray/inner wing. Lastly I coated the area with a little more grey protection.

    Job Done.

Hello, and thank you so much for posting your interest. It is my personal task to dig every enthusiastic corrado owner out of the woodwork. I've been searching this whole forum and spreading the word.

It's a real shame your not free to make the 17th. Please don't worry as with the interest that's already been whipped up, I'm certain we shall be sorting a number of meets throughout the year, and maybe gate crash a few shows as a group too.

Please PM a few contact details as I'm currently collecting all I can. I will then forward you my mobile and email and ill keep ypu posted with every date in the diary, as they appear.

That goes to all owners reading this tread that haven't messaged me already.

So pleased with all this interest.

    Michael

  6. I think I'll def widen my search to include all VRs. I'm most fussy about bodywork - if I can find one that's really good on that side, I can live with fixing other faults. So: great bodywork, original spec, leather. Pot of money at the ready. :thumbleft:

My Pal has two Mystic Blue Vr6 storm one has been his from new and has only 24k yes thats 24k, the only addition was a Multi Lock the other he bought of a local guy a few years back, it's also in MysticBlue that's got i think 90k and full history. I'm sure he's ready to sell. he originally thought he'd keep it,but I think as they are both garaged he's looking to sell to free up some space.

    Let me know.

  10. Thanks mate. I was tempted to do it on my Golf but all the lights are rounded and its a pain in the ass, but with the Corrado ones being square and flat should be easier. Did you have to take the glass off or did you fit it on the car?

    Hi mate,

I removed the whole fitting, with mine being a late car it's a different fitting to yours I think, the fog on your car is a separate housing and removes itself separately. When its time, I'd do the indicators and fogs together if I were you. Very easy tho fitting it over the whole front face nice and flat leaving enough around to cover all the sides, i then stretched and pulled the lamin-x around each of the corners using a small setting on hair dryer to soften and smooth. (Indoors) Then I pressed around all the side nice and neat.

Very easy and great protection. Had to go all French as I'm a newcastle utd fan :)
