  1. has anyone tried this as i would like to have a go at doing this some time in summer, anyway from what i've heard from people who have fitted them into mk2 golfs the best thing is to use early mk4 clocks (why?) and use mk3 golf ventilation ducts to line up with the dash. i have a h reg 1.8 16v corrado so it runs the speed of a cable rather than a sensor on the gearbox, could i convert this to a sensor and will it be difficult. just like the mk4 golf dash looks so much nicer than the old skool corrado dash. thanks bobby
  2. yeah, what exactly does the mechanism include the handles, rods and the lock that bolts to the side of the door, is this everything, and if the passat has central locking does this mean it plugs straight in? thanks

    slow rev drop

after sorting out my hewadgasket on my c 1.8 16v is seems that the car seems to rev through the range fine but is slow to come back down the rev range, i've adjusted the idle screw as the engine was running a bit fast on tick over but was advised not to screw the idle adjustment screw all the way in. anyway adjusted some contact swith on the throttle body so when the accelerator is released the part of the throttle thing presses on this contact swith and this has helped to drop the revs quicker, what is this swith. Is there anything else i should check that may be causing this problem, some fuse piping. i have replaced the accelerator cable :?: p.s does it matter which way the two pipes go under the fat rubber pipe that connects the throttle body to the air meter (the bit where a power rhor goes) as theres two pipes that connect underneath and i'm not sure they are on the right way. any ideas on how to do a basic idle set up would be great, ie disconnect what from the coil etc thanks Bobby :D
  4. saw a nice yellow corrado just when i was coming into huddersfield yesterday afternoon (24 th) had a cut out on the fron bumper and was sat in traffic, was in my mates golf so didnt flash the lights.
  5. yeah had a guy reverse into my mk4 polo which had just come back from the body shop that week! (flared arches and a whole lot of flushing), anyway stopped to let some people cross the car park in tescos and this guy in a new punto just reverses straight out of his parking space into my bumper whilst tying to straighten his parking up. the cheeky guy then continues to walks off into tesco, so i followed him with some mates and said, "excuse me mate, u have just reversed into my car and your gonna have to pay for it". Then took the guy over to see my bumper, which had cracked the paint. He replies with ," its nothing" :x . after some persuasion got him to go to the cash machine and pay up, as the guy was drunk and he knew if i called the cops he would be in the sh*t. anyway moral of the story is don't park near the trolley bays, and park in two parking spaces if possible, i have even parked totally the wrong way a couple of times, as i get seriously  when people just dent your car and drive off. oh yeah and what bodyshop do u use paul as the ones based in leeds charge premuim rates and are all to kind when it comes to applying tubs of filler to repair dents. :(
  6. my car ain't even a g60 but i'll be willing to put that in my window!
  7. 21 have now got a 1.8 16v corrado have had four mk4 polos  and a mk2 golf, gonna have to stump up 1500 to insure the corrado and thats tpft with 1years ncd!! :(

    locked out

spent a good 2 hours yesterday trying to get into my corrado  , as the central locking has died some time back. After a few hours of manouvering an old metal rod i manged to pull the door open using the interior door pull, but in the proccess i've killed both door handles (got a bit annoyed) didn't help with me having removed the door pins either :( . so does anyone know what other handles can be fitted up front, vento, as i do'nt want to replace the corrado's ones with ones that will end up doing the same thing unless i have no other choice  p.s anyone chucked the old vw central locking system and dropped in wire activated central locking, if so how hard was it? :?: Thanks Bobby :D

    too much pressure

ok cheers guys, does anyone know if the powersteering pump has to be removed when taking the lower elbow off the waterpump to get to the thermostat, also seem i now have a slow leak near the water pump :( , so i'm thinking the seals have gone are these easy to change and where are they located (have a new water pump for a 1.8 8v but not sure if its the the same). any help is much appreciated thanks Bobby :D

    too much pressure

oh yeah this problem had occurred before the head was skimmed and rebuilt and was probably the cause of blowing the head gasket and lack of coolant:(

    too much pressure

after getting my top end rebuilt on my 1.8 16v kr lump there seems too be a build up off pressure that is causing the top hose going into the radiator to get hot quick and build up pressure real quick where as the lower pipe coming from the radiator stay fairly cold and doesn't build up a lot of pressure, any ideas of what it could be it was suggested that the thermostat is jammed. the heater in the car blows warm and the wateer pump is returning ok aswell. how easy is it to get to the thermostat. :?: p.s anybody know how much a complete dizzy is for a kr engine? :-P thanks any ideas are much appreciated :D Bobby
  12. the yellow mint corrado flushed front bumper belongs to the guy who works in gsf in leeds and a dark green one in the same carpark with cream leathers had big oeittiger (or however u spell it) stickers on.

    negative camber

whilst my c has been off the road i have fitted a 80mm drop kit but after dropping the car back down of the jack it seem that the wheels are quite angled inwards into the arch, i take it this can be sirted by a tracking and allignment session, or should i be worried? is this gonna wear my tyres out quickly? just got to figure how to get the car out of the garage now without killing the sump  !! thanks Bobby
  14. used it but being a smart git i did a cross shape so when ive come to putting the pulley back on things went downhill, as the pulley lines up to the marks in four different positions  , don't know what i was thinking when i marked it up (it was 11.30pm though) . any ideas on how to line up the pulley now , is it just set the tdc mark in the gearbox and then set the pulley with the mark lined to the arrow on the timing belt cover? thanks Bobby
  15. thanks for the offer much appreciated but the car is in pieces i managed to get the pulleys of in the end though. :D what garage do u work at mate? As its good to know when i have another problem with my corrado. Bobby
  16. ok thanks, i will go investigate, i think i set it so the centre pistons were at tdc!! head was timed up before i put it on though. the lower crank pulley tdc mark is a joke, its so small. :x
  17. after rebuliding the head on my 1.8 16v i put the head back on timed up the the new belt and tried to turn the engine over by the lower pulley but it wasn't having none of if it :( ! so i took the timing belt back off and checked to see what was wrong, after turning the lower crank pulley i was definite it was something up the top end causing the problems. so after setting the piston in the centre positions i tried to move the flywheel to turn the cams over but it doesn't want to moveeither way back or fowards? any ideas i don't really want to have to start stripping the head off again, so i'm thinking that the cams need to be released and put back in agian, although the timing mark in spot on. all this hassle is making me think this car is more troublre than its worth!! thanks Bobby :D
  18. ok, will have to get my corrado down to some of these meetings when it gets back on road, and i find the 1.5k to insure the thing (and thats tpft!!!)  . How do i join the CGTI any webpages? :D
  19. when changing the timing belt on a 1.8 16v is it nessecary to remove the water pump pulley as i've removed the crank pulley and tried to remove the water pump one by using two allen key sockets but they keep slipping :( , is there any way i can jam the water pump pulley as it doesn't make it easy when it keeps rotating. i've managed to get one of the three allan key bolt out just two left. Just out of interest what is the pulley just above the crankshaft pulley (its under the timing belt pulley) is it and oil pump pulley?? one last question can someone give me quick guide on timing up a 1.8 16c corrado, does the lower pulley need to be put back on at a certian position (i have marked it when i removed it). thanks Bobby :D
  20. after closing the door yesterday on the drivers side the central locking has gone dead, so after taking the door card off realised that the vacuum pump had come off the central locking mechanism so put it back on, but it still isn't working. I'm thinking its a wiring problem as the central aint working from ant other lock now. it did work for a second when i had a fiddle behind the fusebox then went dead again. so is there any checks i can do to test whats working and whats not. thanks Bobby
  21. i'm sure the guy with the deadly black 16v (jim i think) that was featured in the golf is from down here aswell remember talking to him at dms in leeds, we were in the a4 convertible (if the guy see's this). when and where are the dub meeting around here Phatvr6 i've heard your in charge of all that stuff for west yorkshire?
  22. am i right in thinking that the standard offset on the earlier corrados ( h reg 1.8 16v) is around 35-38, as when i bought my corrado the alloys that it came with have an offset of 18!!! the funny thing is they fit nicely in the arch and look flush with the arches (a bit in). after trying my deep dish 15's off my polo (et35) the wheels looks lost they sit way too far in. i have dropped the car a lot (60mm>) and it seems ok with the low offset but rubs on the inner arch on full lock at the front, however i don't like the wheels and would rather have my dished 15's on instead, so i was wondering what offset you guys are running and with what drop on 15's. oh yeah can i get 15mm spacers or do they only go up in tens? thanks Bobby :D
  23. I'm from the roundhay area and it seems theres a fair few of u guys from down here too.

    typical aint it

ok thanks that could have beeen a costly mistake  , and one to add to the growing list, thanks for that advice henny the corrado guru
  25. i was thinking if it comes to this i would be able to leave the gearbox in place and just remove the lump complete as the gearbox seem ok. I've helped a mate do a mk4 polo and we dropped the whole subframe and struts along with gearbox can this be done done on the corrado or does it just make things more difficult :?: . How many corrado have u had then henny, just out of interest? Thanks again bobby
